The mother of a first grader punished for handing an “innocent” drawing with the phrases “black lives matter” and “any life” to a classmate of color is appealing to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals after a lower court ruling declared first-grade students are too young to be protected by the First Amendment. After a first grade lesson on Martin Luther King Jr. and Black Lives Matter, a student who felt bad for her classmate of color drew a picture for that classmate to allegedly help the classmate feel more included. The picture had the phrase “Black Lives Mater” (sic)...

Unbiased investigators in the pay of George Soros have just found an unsigned kindergarten drawing by Brett Kavanaugh. And it shows that Kavanaugh did not color inside the lines! Reaction from Democrats was swift. Sen. Schumer: This shows that Kavanaugh cannot follow directions. Sen. Warren: Kavanaugh certainly did this to torment his female kindergarten teacher. Every commentator on CNN: I think we all know why Kavanaugh did not use any black crayons. Brian Williams: I was principal of Kavanaugh's school at the time. He was a mean little kid.

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. - "It's ridiculously blown out of proportion." That's how the mother of the 16-year-old Cedar Creek High School student arrested Tuesday described her son after local police found items at his home that could cause an explosion. "He really cares about people," she said. "He's kind, he's loving, he's brilliant...I think this is fear because of what just happened in Connecticut."

An image said to come from inside an Iranian military site shows an explosives containment chamber of the type needed for nuclear arms-related tests that UN inspectors suspect Tehran has conducted at the site. Iran denies such testing and has neither confirmed nor denied the existence of such a chamber. The image was provided to The Associated Press by an official of a country tracking Iran's nuclear program who said the drawing proves the structure exists, despite Tehran's refusal to acknowledge it. The official said he could not discuss the drawing's origins beyond that it was based on information from...

Daddy, are you mad at me? Those were the first words out of the mouth of a scared little girl to her father when he was released this week after being charged with possession of a firearm because of a picture she drew at school of a man holding a gun - which turned out to be a toy. . . "The kids were scared," said Thaler. "It is a four-year-old that we're taking the information from, but the fact is that this disclosure was very descriptive and very alarming to the officers investigating this." It was a typical day...

I think the violence that broke out this weekend on the Syria–Israel border is a clear indication that the revolutions in the Arab world are engendering more rather than less radicalism and instability in the region. I think they show that another Arab war against Israel is more likely now than at any time in the last 25 years, as Egypt, Syria and other countries reassess their options and come to the conclusion that war and other aggression against Israel serve their interests today in a way they didn’t in the past. I think Israel’s response was weak and that...

Today, bloggers around the world will participate in a protest against terrorists by drawing cartoons of the Muslim prophet Mohammed. Everyone Draw Mohammed Day started when terrorist threats against Comedy Central pushed its executives to heavily censor an episode of South Park, which still cannot be seen on the South Park Studios website. It got off to an inauspicious start, though, when its creator backed out of the event, citing concerns about being overly provocative. That’s a good point to consider, especially if one goal of the war on terror is to push an Enlightenment of sorts onto global Islam. A...

Most people think Billy Pappas is crazy. And why wouldn’t they? Who other than a crazy person would spend more than 8 years of his life drawing a single portrait? And of a celebrity, no less? But that’s what Pappas did. Every day, seven Billy Pappashours a day, Pappas stood in front of an easel, arms steadied by slings and drew, with a razor sharp pencil, what he believes to be the most detailed, precise and life-like drawing ever created. His 14” × 17” work is based on Richard Avedon’s 1957 photograph of Marilyn Monroe. It’s not an iconic photo, but it might show Marilyn Monroe...

NEW YORK – Red and yellow lights shone from the top of the Empire State Building at dusk Wednesday, a tribute to communist China's 60th anniversary that protesters labeled "blatant approval" of totalitarianism and criticized as inappropriate for an icon in the land of the free. The building is routinely lit with different to mark holidays and big events, but opponents questioned whether it's right to commemorate a sensitive political issue, particularly when China has such a poor human rights record. About 20 supporters of Tibet, which China has ruled since shortly after communists took over in 1949, protested outside...

When I said I would give a pleasant surprise to Brityank, I meant I would like to paint a painting for him. Because I would like to thank him for his kindness towards me. Maybe he doesn’t think its anything, But I really care. Because I think I must keep my promise, and do my best, I will do it, and I’m free now. I hope Brityank feels free about this too. Because it is just a painting, and I just need an excuse to exercise my drawing skills. I am so lazy sometimes you know, I like to relax...

See the amazing picture by an autistic artist who drew London from memory after a single helicopter trip This picture depicting the London skyline in fine detail was drawn after just one flight over the city and purely from memory. Stephen Wiltshire, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three, memorised the appearance and position of hundreds of London's buildings in exact scale during a helicopter ride along the Thames. Over the next five days, the 33-year-old drew the seven-square mile panorama, including landmarks such as the Swiss Re tower, and Canary Wharf, on a 13ft curving canvas....

In Arizona an eighth grader was suspended for 5 days from his government school. His crime ... drawing a picture of a gun on a piece of paper. No ... we are not kidding you. This is a government school .. you should know by now that this is what government schools do. The Chandler Unified School District in Arizona actually considered the gun "a threat." Craig Gilbert is the director of secondary education. He says that there is a range of punishments that administrators can give for "implied threats." Unfortunately, privacy laws prevent the public from accessing information including...

A drawing by an 11-year-old girl from Indonesia's tsunami-hit Aceh has landed her a scholarship from Italy. Entitled "Ombak" (Waves), the painting was the work of Karina, an Acehnese child who survived the 2004 disaster. On display in Rome last year, her painting so fascinated Italian philanthropist, Dr. Elio Matacena, that he decided to offer her a 10,000 euro scholarship. "It's a masterpiece," Matacena told Adnkronos International (AKI) at the scholarship presentation ceremony on Monday at the Indonesian embassy in Rome. "It's unbelievable that a little girl could do something so impressive," he said.

SEATTLE — When Boeing names an airplane design after a Muppet, it must be pretty different. Two small teams at the company are re-imagining the airplane in futuristic configurations that sprout wings, tails and engines in unexpected shapes and places. The research, illustrated in internal documents, aims in two directions: low-cost airplanes, and environment-friendly planes that will be quieter, use much less fuel and leave fewer pollutants in the upper atmosphere. In the latter category is the "Kermit Kruiser," a low-noise concept airplane with main wings radically swept forward rather than back, and sporting miniature wings on the front. Then...
