To make it on stage at the September Democratic presidential debate, candidates must have 130,000 unique donors and garner 2 percent or more in at least four polls approved by the Democratic National Committee. Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard, progressive mega-donor Tom Steyer, and New Age author Marianne Williamson each met the donor requirement but will apparently fail to hit the polling requirement.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) has said she won’t be dropping out of the 2020 Democratic presidential race after she narrowly missed the cut for the upcoming third Democratic presidential debate this month. Addressing voters’ concerns on Aug. 31 that she may pull out of the race for the White House, the 38-year-old congresswoman said at a town hall in Atlanta: “Hell, no!” “I started hearing from a lot of people in the media when they said, ‘OK, you didn’t make the third debate. Are you quitting?’” Gabbard said, after failing to make the lineup of 10 candidates put in place...
  • ‘Top-Tier’ Harris Leads Gabbard by Less Than Margin of Error

Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) called herself a "top-tier" candidate in July while mocking Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D., Hawaii) for her low polling, but in a new survey Harris leads Gabbard by less than the margin of error. Harris received just 5 percent support from likely Democratic primary voters in a new Economist/YouGov poll, down 4 points from the same survey last month. Gabbard was right behind Harris with 3 percent support, meaning Harris's advantage is within the poll's margin of error of 2.6 percent. Gabbard ripped Harris at July's CNN debate for her record as California's attorney general, specifically...
  • Why Kamala Harris Hasn’t Caught Fire in the Democratic 2020 Race

Kamala Harris entered the presidential race with impressive credentials -- a popular black woman with an inspiring story who hailed from a large Democratic state and drew accolades for her fiery questioning of President Donald Trump’s nominees. Yet despite a shot of adrenaline after confronting front-runner Joe Biden in the first debate, she has failed to catch fire with Democratic voters who are torn between a nostalgic fondness for Biden and a revolutionary desire for Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren. Harris’s attempt to replicate her feat in the second debate backfired among Democrats who say she went too negative on...
  • (Tulsi) Gabbard's lawsuit puts Google on the spot

Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard has renewed the debate surrounding the outsized influence of tech companies in American politics with her lawsuit against Google. Ms. Gabbard, a U.S. representative from Hawaii, has alleged that Google’s decision to temporarily suspend her advertising account after the June Democratic primary debates was tantamount to suppressing her candidacy. Her lawsuit accuses Google of violating her First Amendment rights, for which she is seeking $50 million and assurances that Google will not censor or restrict her account further. Google has countered that Ms. Gabbard’s account was flagged for “unusual activity” and suspended “to prevent fraud...
  • Bloomberg Could Win Dem Nomination

Bye bye Biden. As Joe stinks to 19 percent and 22 percent in the latest Monmouth (8/26) and Economist/UGov (8/21) polls, putting him in a statistical tie with Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren for the first time, there is an opening for former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in the Democratic primary. Here’s how it might come about: Step One: Biden fades into a tie with Sanders and Warren (already happening) and then falls to third place. Biden has no way to come back. He is the candidate of events that happened between 2008-2016. If the past is not...
