HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — A man blamed for numerous killings and rapes has been executed in Texas for the murder of a woman who was raped, beaten and left to die on a Houston street. Fifty-one-year-old Johnny Ray Johnson was pronounced dead at 6:19 p.m. Thursday. A Harris County jury sent Johnson to death row for the 1995 murder of 41-year-old Leah Joette Smith.
