<p>Grammy-winning songwriter Brett James died Thursday in a plane crash in Franklin, North Carolina. He was 57.</p><p>The single-engine plane, registered under James’ legal name, Brett Cornelius, went down in a field around 3 p.m., roughly 270 miles southeast of Nashville, according to flight-tracking data from FlightAware and a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). All three people aboard were killed, CNN reported.</p>
