1984 The film adaptation of George Orwell’s famed 1949 novel of the same name (and current favorite reading material of America’s right wing), 1984 follows a lowly citizen living under a totalitarian regime called Oceania. The novel was first adapted for the screen in 1956, but this version is the official 1984 version of 1984. This version is considered to be the best screen adaptation of the story, remaining pretty faithful to the source material. Stream it. Big Brother is watching.

Contemporary morality, courtesy of Cosmopolitan magazine: Standing before her were eight white men, largely unmemorable except for what they all had in common: Confederate flag T-shirts and penises jutting stiffly out of their pants. She was here to have sex with all of them—she knew that; she’d signed the contract. But Ana Foxxx, then 23, was still trying to process the message, what was really being asked of her, when the director, another white man, pulled her into a side room. He showed her images on his computer of other Black women in videos just like this one. He told...

Krispy Kreme's promotion might be cute, and it's certainly good marketing, but it's deeply irresponsible.Starting this week, customers with a COVID vaccination card showing they have received at least one dose of the two-shot vaccines from Pfizer or Moderna, or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine may redeem a free Original Glazed doughnut.“Krispy Kreme also will continue to encourage everyone to share joy and take care of each other by launching ‘Be Sweet Weekend,’ offering guests who purchase any dozen an additional ‘Be Sweet Dozen’ to safely share with a friend or neighbor for just $1,” the company...

Hello, happy weekend, what did you do last night? Because Lindsay Lohan was chilling in Mykonos when who should wander in? That would be Tiffany Trump, aka the daughter of President Donald Trump, man who is currently running the United States. Lindsay hit up Instagram to share a now-deleted photo of herself and Tiffany hanging with their mutual friend Andrew Warren at a fundraiser for victims of the Greek wildfires. And for reasons you can go ahead and file under "huh, okay," LiLo went ahead and tagged POTUS in her post....

Walmart is removing the sex-obsessed, pro-abortion women’s magazine “Cosmopolitan” from its checkout shelves. The retail chain announced the change this week after considering concerns raised by parents and conservative groups about the content of the magazine, USA Today reports. “While this was primarily a business decision, the concerns raised were heard,” Walmart spokesperson Meggan Kring said. “Cosmpolitan” often displays scantily clad women on its front covers, along with headlines promoting risky sexual behavior and other objectionable content. It also regularly advocates for abortion on demand. Inside its pages, Cosmo has criticized late-term abortion bans and justified eugenic abortions of disabled...

The nation's largest retailer has bounced Cosmopolitan from the coveted checkout aisle following a years-long campaign targeting the women's magazine for its "hyper-sexualized" covers and content. Walmart said Tuesday that it was removing the magazine from checkout lines at its 5,000 stores across the country. "Walmart will continue to offer Cosmopolitan to customers that wish to purchase the magazine, but it will no longer be in the checkout aisles," the company said in a statement. "While this was primarily a business decision, the concerns raised were heard." Those concerns were raised by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, which compares...

With just ten days to go before he is sworn in as America's forty-fifth president, the political establishment went nuclear on President-elect Donald Trump Tuesday with a double-barreled blast of “leaked” “intelligence” reports by CNN and BuzzFeed. The documents contain explosive, but unverified, opposition research that alleges intel ties between Russia and Trump and also claims Russia holds sexual blackmail material over Trump. One of the most outrageous unconfirmed allegations in the report claims the Russians recorded Trump watching Russian prostitutes urinate on each other in a Moscow hotel room previously occupied by President and Mrs. Barack Obama. Now this… Buzzfeed, Cosmopolitan, and...

Although Clinton didn’t end up becoming the first woman president of the United States, she broke a major barrier by becoming the first presidential nominee of a major party. She did so by putting women at the center of her platform, offering progressive policies like enacting paid family leave, raising the minimum wage, and fighting for reproductive rights.

The political world convulsed Friday. Seemingly out of nowhere, the FBI lurched into the 2016 presidential election, a truly historic development that dragged Hillary Clinton's emails -- not to mention Anthony Weiner -- firmly into the spotlight with less than two weeks to go until Election Day. So what does it all mean? Here's what you need to know.

I shouldn’t be surprised that Cosmopolitan, a magazine devoted to exploiting women as sex objects, now has a video taking its sexism to a new level. In the new video “Couples Talk about Gun Ownership,” women are shown discussing guns and gun-control issues with their significant others. Within seconds, the viewer is aware that Cosmopolitan believes women think guns are scary “death machines,” men that own guns are probably domestic abusers, and the Second Amendment is worthy of nothing more than an eye roll.

It’s very common for people to believe that the issue of abortion is one to avoid discussing at all costs, since people’s minds are completely made up on it. This seems even more true if the pro-choicer in question is a decades-long writer for Cosmopolitan, a women’s magazine with a very positive attitude to casual sex and abortion. Sue Ellen Browder proves this logic wrong. “I told a lot of lies in that magazine,†she says now. “We were making up fantasies of women that were jumping into bed, but they weren’t doing it as much as they are today....

The cutting edge of print journalism that is Cosmopolitan labeled the Kardashians as “America’s First Family” on the cover of its 50th anniversary issue in November. Needless to say, America (i.e. Twitter) does not agree with this sentiment, and has taken it upon itself to educate the half-a-century-old magazine. According to Uproxx, 16 pages of next month’s issue are dedicated to the family clan made famous by sisters Kim and Khloe‘s exploits in reality television, smartphone apps, and many, many other business endeavors. At this point, the Kardashian family is no longer a family — it’s a brand. Whether or...

The granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst, of the multi-national media empire Hearst Corporation, and the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) are launching a campaign that demands Cosmopolitan Magazine be displayed behind blinders or in an opaque wrapper and not sold to minors. Victoria Hearst, who is also the founder and president of Praise Him Ministries in Montrose, Colorado, and Dawn Hawkins, executive director of NCOSE, will be joined by child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist and author Dr. Miriam Grossman on Wednesday, April 22 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. to launch their new campaign titled “Cosmo Harms...

The Army made her feel “like a joke” — but they couldn’t keep her silent. Chelsea Manning — formerly known as Bradley E. Manning — the ex-Army intelligence analyst sentenced to 35 years for leaking a treasure trove of secret documents to WikiLeaks, has given her first public interview with the press from military prison in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Speaking through the mail to Cosmopolitan magazine, Manning opened up about her recent experience behind bars and her lifelong desire to live as a woman. “I don’t know how [this struggle] shaped my life and who I am, but it’s absolutely...

Say what you want about pro-life incrementalism, but one thing about the movement to ban abortions at 20 weeks is undeniable: it has exposed just how entitled abortionistas feel to the “mainstream” mantle even as they refuse to give an inch from their extremism. Last week, Cosmopolitan’s Liz Welch relayed the testimony of Vanessa Riley to the Texas legislature opposing the state’s new protections for pain-capable unborn children. Her “devastating” account is supposed to prove how these “harsh” laws “can prevent women from getting the care they need. Riley defines herself as a pro-choicer committed to never having an abortion...

The August issue of Cosmopolitan arrives on newsstands next week. Nicole Weider, a former fashion model, a purpose-driven young Christian woman, believes the “obscene” magazine should be wrapped in a nontransparent plastic bag. “This publication has steadily declined,” she says, “into a full-on pornographic ‘how to’ guide for teens and vulnerable young girls.” Indeed, Cosmo’s August cover entices readers to venture inside its pages with promises of “52 SEX TIPS,” as well as one of those how-to features Nicole mentions, coaching women on how to “TURN HIM ON FROM ACROSS THE ROOM,” and a helpful article for ladies wondering what...

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Republican Senator Scott Brown made a crack about Democrat Elizabeth Warren’s physical appearance on a radio show Thursday morning. According to the Boston Globe, the senator was responding to a crack Warren made during Tuesday's debate. When Warren was asked about Brown using his centerfold spread in Cosmopolitan magazine decades ago to pay for college, she said she “didn’t take her clothes off” to pay for school. When the WZLX disc jockey asked Brown for a response, he said "Thank God," which elicited laughter from the DJs.
