Yesterday my friend and fellow law professor, Dale Carpenter, published an op-ed that claimed religious liberty will be unharmed if we embrace same-sex marriage ("The rites and rights of marriage," May 9). My friend and colleague, Mark Osler, gives good advice in his recent commentary "May inevitable year of debate be constructive" (Oct. 15). He counsels Minnesotans discussing the marriage-protection amendment (commonly misidentified as the gay-marriage amendment) to avoid insulting those they are in conversation with, and to "argue toward the principles the other side professes." Check out the video that FOX news was referring to about the Congresswoman and the Pledge of Allegiance where she omitted the, "under God", phrase. Her staffers said she was just breathing and it looked like she left it out, but this video proves she is a liar. She doesn't even have the idea that she might be atheist to fall back on because she has been using her Catholic faith as a campaign point in her re-election bid.
