Actor Gary Busey, 78, best know for his Oscar nominated title role in 1978’s Buddy Holly, was charged Friday in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Charges include two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment. Busey was attending the annual Monster Mania Convention in Cherry Hill. Monster Mania is a semi-annual horror film convention for fans that features guest panels, meet-and-greets with actors and horror memorabilia. The charges steam from encounters that occurred August 12-14, 2022 while Busey was in attendance.

Construction for a maglev train line that would take passengers from Washington to Baltimore in 15 minutes could alter a D.C. neighborhood and affect nearby properties for years, District officials said Monday. A 25-year-old Baltimore man who goes by the name of "Butt Juice" was convicted Tuesday of conspiracy to take part in racketeering as part of his gang activities in the Cherry Hill area. Lamont Jones, a.ka. "Butt Juice," faces a maximum sentence of life in prison; his sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 5, according to a news release Tuesday. Jones is a member of the Up Da Hill (UDG) gang and was also convicted of conspiracy to distribute drugs and having drugs with intent to distribute, according to the news release.

A proposed “distracted walking” bill in New Jersey would ban pedestrians from walking and texting simultaneously, with the possibility of a $50 fine or even a short jail sentence. The measure, which has been proposed by New Jersey Assembly Congresswoman Pamela Lampitt, is to try and reduce pedestrian deaths as a result of distraction from mobile devices. The law would ban people from walking while texting on any form of electronic communication device unless it is totally hands free. Those caught could face fines of up to $50, 15 days imprisonment, or both, which is the same penalty as jaywalking.

Benecke admitted fixing two traffic tickets for one of the suspects.
