A Tennessee lawmaker issued a dire warning after claiming to have seen classified UFO footage that hasn't been released to the public. Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., speculated extraterrestrial life forms could have technology that humanity "can't handle" during an appearance on the "Event Horizon" podcast. "If they’re out there, they’re out there, and if they have this kind of technology, then they could turn us into a charcoal briquette," Burchett said. "And if they can travel light years or at the speeds that we’ve seen, and physics as we know it, fly underwater, don't show a heat trail, things like...

I bought a portable charcoal grill and have yet to use it. Amazon used to sell it. They called it the Volcano Grills 3-Fuel Portable Camping Stove/ Fire Pit. https://www.amazon.com/Volcano-Grills-3-Fuel-Portable-Camping/dp/B000FDKXN6/ref=pd_rhf_se_p_img_7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=BEAS5KJCCASC1P6K82BV I don't want to set it on the ground as I tend to it. Fun at campsite, but I want to give my squatting muscles a rest. So I was wondering what kind of table I should set it on. I have a Cabela camp kitchen, but the surface is melamine and they show a propane stove in the picture. I have used hibachis at parks and the picnic tables...

Charcoal lattes, made from activated charcoal and milk, are blowing up in our news feeds Activated charcoal is in everything nowadays, from our toothpaste to our ice cream cones. But now you can find the gritty black stuff in your cup of morning joe. Charcoal lattes are a thing now, and are trending on Instagram (probably because the sooty grey color makes for a particularly superb social media post). These drinks are — surprisingly — not even made with caffeine: Instead swirls of charcoal are mixed with creamy milk to create a frothy wakeup call that’s even trendier than your...

I used this again this week (with great results) so I want to share, since we're all paying the first $6000 dollars out of pocket now for healthcare. My little girl came home from school Wed and one of her eyeballs was red. Throughout the evening, it got worse. She started to get the eyeball snots in the inside corner, and along the lower lashline. I sent Hubby to the store for activated charcoal. This is the exact product he bought at CVS, around 10 bucks. It can be found in the aisle by the Tums and Maalox, because it's...

In a first-of-its-kind enforcement operation, and eight months after it was promised, inspectors closed down no fewer than 32 illegal charcoal facilities in northern Shomron-Wadi Ara. Much of the charcoal sold in Israel is produced primitively and illegally by Arabs in the above region, causing tremendous air pollution. However, the Civil Administration announced last October that it would close down most of the pirate operations – and yesterday, it finally did so. The operation was carried out at the behest of the Environment Ministry, was presided over by Environment Minister Gilad Erdan, and was implemented by personnel of the Civil...

CHURCHVILLE, VA—My colleague Bennie Peiser, of Britain’s Global Warming Policy Foundation, offers some of his latest man-made global warming news: The Sunday Times noted on May 22 that the UK government has agreed to cut its greenhouse emissions 50 percent by 2027. As a result, “Tata Steel last week announced it was cutting 1,500 jobs at its Scunthorpe and Teeside plants. The company, which employs 21,000 in Britain, has held high-level talks with government in recent weeks over its energy plans. . . . A WOMAN suffered burns after a self-styled prophet forced her to clench BURNING CHARCOAL as part of a bizarre healing ritual, a court heard. Phathisani Khoza, 23, admitted a charge of assault before a magistrate in the Midlands town of Gweru this week. He was remanded on US$20 bail awaiting sentence. Magistrate Meo Rubwe heard that on August 16 this year, the victim, Yvonne Dongo, attended a church service conducted by Khoza at a house in Mtapa Section 4 suburb. Prosecutor Michael Mhene said during the service, Khoza started praying for Dongo. In the middle of the prayer, the court...

The battle of the sexes is sizzling this summer. Elizabeth Karmel — one of the few women in New York to helm a top grill pit — rakes male cooks over the coals with her new “The Girls’ Guide to Grilling” (at stfsavortheflavor.com). In it, she claims that women are just as good — if not better — at taming the outdoor flame. “The great thing about being a woman in the male-dominated world of grilling is that in the end, it’s all about the food, not about fire-building or pounding my fist on my chest,” says Karmel, executive chef...

Third: Neither of us know very much at all about grilling -- an understatement if there ever was one. (Though your's truly is a pretty darn good cook, if I do say so myself) Finally: a) We live in an empty-nester apt. and so be we'll be grilling from a patio.... into the clear sky. b) Yes, it has to be portable, and have a work surface. UK scientists have traced the history of wildfires by studying lumps of ancient charcoal from around the world. The fossils show the incidence of fires through time is closely related to the level of atmospheric oxygen. Andrew Scott and Ian Glasspool say huge swathes of the planet were ablaze when concentrations of the gas peaked some 275 million years ago. Their research is published in the US scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. "People might think the charcoal they pull out of a bonfire is just rubbish; but look at it under a microscope and you see...

Jul. 03, 2005 Anyone got a light? Jul. 03, 2005 BY DAVE BARRY (This classic Dave Barry column was originally published on June 25, 1995.) Everybody loves a backyard barbecue. For some reason, food just seems to taste better when it has been cooked outdoors, where flies can lay eggs on it. But there's nothing worse -- and I include the Great Depression in that statement -- than trying to set fire to a pile of balky charcoal. (For those of you who actually went through the Great Depression and are offended by the previous sentence, let me state, in...

Now that all is decided except how much French tourists will be charged for parking tickets in post-war Iraq, I want to temporarily divert the attention of my fellow FReepers onto a truly serious topic. I'm talking, of course, about...........grilling. The Lovely Wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary yesterday, and as part of our mutually-decided "extended celebration" of our Silver Anniversary, we decided as one of our little fun things planned to get a new grill. Stop laughing. We like to grill. A lot. You see, we figured that all too often, couples that reach this point have...
