*Proposed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations for power plant emissions could spur blackouts in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) power grid region and cost stakeholders nearly $250 billion in the coming decades, according to comments filed in response to the rule by the Center of the American Experiment (CAE).*The average annual cost to stakeholders of building enough capacity to stave off the blackouts CAE projects in the MISO region is greater than the average annual benefit the EPA estimates its proposals will bring for the entire country by 2055, according to CAE’s analysis.*“This is the regulatory equivalent of studying...

Miller Lite announced this week that it is releasing a limited line of candles, which it is calling “Bar Smells.” This is, obviously, because each one smells like a different type of bar that is special in its own way. There are three scents to choose from including Dive Bar, Game Day Bar and Beer Garden. The first smells like Musk, Tobacco, Pine, and Yeast, which certainly sounds better than the smell of my fave dives, but will have to do! Game Day Bar smells fittingly like Salted Peanut, Jalapeno, and Cracked Leather, and is perfect for the start of...

Eskom’s warning that the country was threatened by months of rotating blackouts became a reality in less than 24 hours. The state-owned company, which produces most of South Africa’s power, said on Wednesday that controlled blackouts could return and last throughout the year. Even more concerning is that the company expects energy availability of the system will keep declining into early next year and probably only recover to current levels in six months. By Thursday, Eskom announced it was cutting 1GW from the grid. It doubled that amount on Friday in an outage that’s scheduled to last 13 hours. For...

Conference of the Parties Climate Change Summit, which President Obama is currently attending. Not only did protesters destroy a memorial left in remembrance of those killed by ISIS terrorists a little over one week ago, they picked up candles dedicated to victims and threw them at police. This is what the climate change protesters have done to the memorial to those murdered last week #Paris. pic.twitter.com/MFGkjWRQfT— Geeza (@Geezajay2013) November 29, 2015 H/T Twitchy

Hope you like increasing prices, everyone! #ForTheMiddleClass https://twitter.com/WSJPolitics/status/627796768328183808 … It’s not like Americans weren’t warned. All in the name of fighting “climate change,” of course. Has that ever really been a barrier for this administration?

As parts of the United States prepare for record-breaking cold temperatures, a YouTube video showing an alternative way to heat your home might come in handy. The video, which we first found on Why Don't You Try This, was made by journalist and boat-owner Dylan Winter. All you need to make this do-it-yourself heater are tea lights, a loaf tin, and two clay flower pots. You can find tea light candles at pretty much any drug or hardware store. A pack of 50 is only $5.99 at CVS, for instance. In the video, Winter places four tea lights into a...

Having trouble deciding what to get the family for Christmas? Well, fear not, my fellow Americans — because President Obama has a full online catalog of goodies that are certain to bring happiness and joy to your loved ones. FOLLOW TODD ON FACEBOOK President Obama’s campaign team has put together a website to remind us what the Yuletide season is truly all about — getting him re-elected. So they’ve decided to offer Americans a collection of special decorations for the “holiday” season. BarackObama.com was careful to use the word “holiday” — but I suspect these decorations are meant for “Christmas”...

A Democratic lawmaker in Nevada has introduced a bill that would outlaw air fresheners and candles in public places. But some critics said the proposed law goes too far – and would even prohibit priests from using candles in Mass. Democratic Assembly Paul Aizley, from Las Vegas, presented his bill Monday. It would set restrictions on pesticides, fragrances, and candles to accommodate people with “chemical sensitivities.”

A windswept, five-alarm fire that killed an elderly Brooklyn woman was started by candles placed on the floor near a bed while a man and woman were having sex after a voodoo ritual, sources said today. Fire marshals determined that the Feb. 20 blaze at 346 East 29th St. in Flatbush escalated to a fifth alarm because of an open door and delays, but that it was all started by black magic. "Time and time again we respond to tragedies that could have been so easily prevented," said FDNY Commissioner Sal Cassano. "This fire had so many of those elements...

For the last week, a group led by Holocaust survivor Eva Kor — founder of Terre Haute’s CANDLES Holocaust museum — has gathered in Poland. The group has toured concentration camps and on Wednesday witnessed the ceremony commemorating the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the infamous Auschwitz camp by Russian soldiers. Listen closely enough here and you can almost make out the footsteps of the hundreds of thousands who perished here. Eva Kor survived until Russian troops liberated the Auschwitz and Birkenau camps on January 27, 1945. But each time she returns to this place – a strip of...

THE PURIFICATION, COMMONLY CALLED CANDLEMAS-DAY. Feast: February 2 The law of God, given by Moses to the Jews, to insinuate both to us and to them, that by the sin of Adam man is conceived and born in sin, and obnoxious to his wrath, ordained that a woman, after childbirth, should continue for a certain time in a state which that law calls unclean; during which she was not to appear in public, nor presume to touch any thing consecrated to God.[1] This term was of forty days upon the birth of a son, and the time was double...

Feast of the Purification(Candlemas) Today is a day of purification, renewal, and hope. On this day, exactly 40 days after Christmas, we commemorate Mary's obedience to the Mosaic law by submitting herself to the Temple for the ritual purification, as commanded in Leviticus: Leviticus 12:2-8Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: If a woman having received seed shall bear a man child, she shall be unclean seven days, according to the days of separation of her flowers. And on the eighth day the infant shall be circumcised: But she shall remain three and thirty...

When you go through the streets you see buildings which are quite different from warehouses or cinemas or living-houses or shops or public-houses. Sometimes they have towers or pointed windows instead of square ones, but there is always something about them which makes you say, "That is a church" or possibly a "chapel." There is also usually a board outside them with a name upon it and hours of "services." Sometimes these churches are open; if they are Catholic ones, they nearly always are. But a man might well feel too shy to go in, at any rate without being...

ADVENTThe word Advent is from the Latin adventus for "coming" and is associated with the four weeks of preparation for Christmas. Advent always contains four Sundays, beginning on the Sunday nearest the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle, (November 30) and continuing until December 24. It blends together a penitential spirit, very similar to Lent, a liturgical theme of preparation for the Second and Final Coming of the Lord, called the Parousia, and a joyful theme of getting ready for the Bethlehem event.Since the 900s Advent has been considered the beginning of the Church year. This does not...
