Interesting. I saw that what won PA for Obama was the fact that he won Philadelphia and the four counties around it by more than he lost the rest of PA by. Maybe everything west of Philly and those counties should secede.

Couldn’t be. There were simply not enough Crusaders even to set up a seige. There is no possible way for them to have sealed off the city and conducted a general massacre. Maybe all that remained to fight would have been put to the sword, but even that seems unlikely. The general rule was to keep captives for slaves and ransom/
The First Crusade. The Crusaders split among themselves with one body north of the city and one south. The attacks launched, if I am reading this correctly and remembering my own trip to Jerusalem some years ago, had to have come in a pretty uncoordinated fashion. Jerusalem is not easy to attack as the Romans could have attested. The terrain is dreadful and few medieval battles were fought in cities. Being armored and working your way through blind twisty streets is not a good way to stay alive. The whole story has the smell of exaggeration.

No, the students are just having this dumped on them. From the discussion it appears that we are in a grey area and it is likely that the college will get away with this. Sigh--I really dislike seeing my students in this fix--many of them may have to postpone graduation--but it looks as though the legal issues will outweigh the ethical issues. So we will provide free labor for people.

It is not a class—it is a graduation requirement. It is not even slightly related to a class. I am told it used to be, but no more. It now looks like straight work for no pay.

I just checked—advisors will have nothing to say about which organizations the students choose. In fact, it appears to me that a member of the president’s family may be the one who does the choosing.

Yes, I would guess that almost all organizations will be religious or left. Our partners so far have been the usual suspects—many of them undertake quasi-political actions.

No, I agree, Newt is not the answer. Not only does he have a personal life which paints a target on his back, but he has a tendency to say things in ways that leave him open to flashback. It is a shame—I heard him debate James Carville live and his mind is one of the best in the country, but there is a problem there, too.
