Supreme Court clears way for Virginia to remove 1,600 alleged noncitizens from voter rolls

Washington — The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed Virginia to move forward with its removal of roughly 1,600 alleged noncitizens from its voter rolls just days before the 2024 election.

The high court granted a request from state officials to pause a lower court order that blocked Virginia from continuing its systematic voter removal program that was launched in August, exactly 90 days before Election Day. A provision of the National Voter Registration Act requires states to complete programs aimed at purging ineligible voters from registration lists up to 90 days before federal elections.

Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson said they would have denied the request from Virginia officials.

Reminder that Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito may well need to be replaced by the next president. It's a choice between Trump choosing their successors and Kamala Harris choosing their successors.

If anyone is still expecting the rest of us to vote Trump in for them, it's time to shake off the complacency. If you can vote early where you live, go vote! If not, make sure you get to the polls on Election Day, don't get frustrated with the lines and make sure you get your vote in.

Lots of whining by CBS in this article.

But, I noted in the CBS rant that they made no mention of the fact that the Voter Motor Act allows removal of people from voter registration rolls if the REMOVAL IS DONE ‘FOR CAUSE’.

For cause removal can include the death of a person or a convicted felon.

Obviously, a non-citizen would be a for cause removal.

But changes made to state voting laws without legislative approval or public scrutiny, as was done by Marc Elias et al back in 2020, right up until days before the election in DIRECT CONTRAVENTION of state laws, is apparently just ducky.

One thing I have not heard from the media is when did these “voters” register. The feds say you can’t remove voters from the rolls within 90 days of an election, but most states allow registration nearly through election day.
