On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Katy Tur Reports,” NBC News Senior Business Correspondent Christine Romans stated that “We’re so scarred by the fresh inflation memories that people really focus on the price they’re paying for things, and they don’t really see the big picture” on economy among other factors like the COVID pandemic and insurance, home, and childcare costs.
Romans said, “If you look at the polls, people say it’s really lousy. And I think the reason is because the inflation scars are really fresh. And what we lived through through the coronavirus pandemic was really awful. And so, you can look at these topline numbers that seem to be so robust, and they are. The International Monetary Fund says we’re the strongest economy in the world. The Economist magazine had a whole issue called ‘The Envy of the World.’ The United States, everybody wants to be like us, except for the people who are living here, who are really distraught, really, about the economy.”

I never realized the economy and prices were unrelated. Thanks for clearing that uo for me.
According to the left, yeah.
Basically they are saying we have it to good and need to stop complaining.
What does COVID 4 years ago have to do with a crappy economy now ?
That episode was a LOCKDOWN.
Retailers shuttered 4,600 stores this year. Here are the stores that disappeared.

Yep, the Economy is on FIRE, Dumpster fire that is
A Facebook friend who I attended high school with says he is better off now than 4 years ago. Well bully for him. If he thinks he is normal, he is crazy. First he is a medical doctor, second, he had a career at an Ivy League college teaching medicine, and third, he still does, at a different college.
Yes, the dude is friendly, nice, helpful, etc. But life from his vantage point is very different, the rough edges are all smoothed off.
Quite honestly, the lives of most of the people I went to high school with don’t have too many rough edges. Other than those created by addictions, divorce, accidental death, cancer.
This silly abortion question boggles my mind. PREGNANCY IS A TEMPORARY PROBLEM. Nine months and it is over. The baby is a person with a right to life under the US Constitution. Adoption is the key. Don’t become a killer in order to solve the “problem.”
Anyway, Joe Burden has ruined the economy and profited his own house and lied about it from all available evidence. We need to boot him and his cohorts out.
My mom is 70 years old. She can’t understand this abortion deal either. She said she always wanted to be a mom.
I love it when these ass-hats talk about inflation “coming down”. OK, reasonably decent news.
That does not mean prices are coming down; they aren’t. It just means the rate of increase has slowed.
Where do we get all of that money back?

Well my “Catholic” liberal nut mom told me having children was a trap for women and to go for a career. I had to figure out for myself how amazing and holy the role of mother is. And once I did, let me tell you, I was plenty livid with my mom for her brainwashing. Anyway all of her four children are parents now and we love our children.
I guess people of her generation regarded children as a burden. That is certainly how we were treated.
No, optimism is still there.
Media gaslighting, federal censorship, Presidential dementia, and being treated like a war criminal if you disagreed with Fauci et al revealed the depth of the media’s disdain for normal people.
In turn, we don’t hate you, Ms Romans; we simply ignore you. You’re as relevant but less smarter than yesterday’s used Q-Tip.
Enjoy being ghosted.
In other words, who are you gonna believe on the economy-NBC News or your empty checking account?
Interesting you should say that. My very Catholic Grandma told me once, Don’t say anything but I would take your father and your aunt back to Catholic charities for all the crap they put me through I would!
Sorry National Bullshit Company but prices to me ARE the relevant part of the economy. They determine how and whether I can survive
Exactly. We had inflation of [well-over] 9%, and wages have gone up only half that amount?
And probably most of that increase is related to stateminimum wages going up, which has caused businesses to hire less.
And he neglects to mention that almost all the “new” jobs have gone to people who were not born here.
I am amazed that more young people are not voting for Trump.
Yea 80% of you are struggling to make bills but you are missing the fact that 20% are doing great get with the big picture. These people are idiots
How do these government a-holes get away with excluding food, fuel and housing and other essentials from their inflation calculations?
I am amazed that more young people are not voting for Trump.
*********
There are certainly a lot of young people at Trump rallies.
Domocrap/mockingbird message to Americans. You’re all stupid garbage, and ladies, you’re weak and dumb.
