I really don’t want to be obnoxious or put anybody down, but I have to say it is so very upsetting when I read a suggestion that only an immigrant (”good for all immigrants....I wonder if anyone else..”) would have started a charity hospital. Woeful ignorance which is excusable but not the thought pattern behind it.

The second oldest charity hospital in the US was founded in New Orleans May 10, 1736. The oldest dates from a few months earlier in NYC. Bellevue traces its origins to the city’s first permanent almshouse, a two-story brick building completed in March 1736. Side note, almshouses date from the 10th c in Britain.

Always seemed odd that Blago was sentenced, and his pardon came at an odd time. More typically you'd expect such a pardon in the lame duck period. Is this more 4D chess by Trump?

I'm sure many posters at freerepublic.com understand the difference between a rapid exponential growth and a slow rising logarithmic curve. In fact, logarithmic and exponential are virtual mathematical opposites. This is not a slip of the tongue as Dr. Birx said it at least 4 times last week. M.D. or not, Birx does not know high school math, and she is now partly in charge of the largest economy in the world.

The person fighting for the chapel is my 92 year old mom. I have been a lurker since the late 90s and my husband suggested I should post this here to maybe get some people activated to help my mother save the chapel. Maybe there is someone here with expertise. Thanks!
