FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A Florida public school employee who faces firing because she allowed her transgender daughter to play girls high school volleyball assailed those who outed her child, saying Tuesday that the ensuing investigation destroyed the girl’s life. Jessica Norton said her daughter was thriving at Monarch High School in suburban Fort Lauderdale before an anonymous tipster notified a Broward County school board member in November that the 16-year-old was playing on the girls varsity volleyball team in apparent violation of state law. The 2021 Fairness in Women’s Sports Act bars students who were born male from...

Authorities in Florida released bodycam footage Friday of what police say is a shootout between three deputies and a Broward County Transit employee. Sheriff Gregory Tony said at a news conference that the suspect, 59-year-old Rafael A. Molina, went into a locker room after work and changed into his regular clothes. Surveillance video then showed him holding a lunch box outside the locker room, Tony said. “He’s just basically waiting,” Tony said of the footage. “What we are referencing as ambushing. Prepping to execute, [kill] one of his colleagues.” ... Tony said that when one of Molina’s co-workers exited the...

In 2021, the Florida legislature passed, and Governor Ron DeSantis signed, the Fairness in Women's Sports Act, which prohibits biological males from participating in women's sports in Florida schools or clubs, and assesses civil fines for any school in the state, at any level, that violate the prohibition. The law was celebrated by many seeking to protect women's and girls' spaces in athletics. Apparently, however, one high school in Florida decided to test that law. And they just found out it has exactly the teeth that the legislature and DeSantis promised it did. Florida athletic board bans transgender volleyball player...

VIDEOA very INTENSE lightning storm started rolling into Broward County, FL a little after 5 PM on July 6, 2023. I heard the roar of thunder in the distance at that time and checked LightningMaps.Org which revealed a chain of lightning strikes going off in the Everglades west of me. I immediately drove to a nearby location about 10 miles west of the Atlantic and just south of Tamarac and went up to the third floor balcony of a building. I set up my cell camera on a tripod and pointed it almost due west to catch the incoming lightning...

hey’re not escargot-ing anywhere. State officials placed part of a Florida city under quarantine Tuesday as they race to eradicate the invasive, parasite-carrying invasive giant African snail. The 3.5-mile section of Miramar in Broward County — located just 11 miles west of Hollywood — will be covered in a metaldehyde-based molluscicide to exterminate the insects after a giant African snail was found in the area earlier this month. Residents will be able to move out of the treatment area freely but are prevented from moving any plant-based supplies that could harbor the mammoth mollusk’s eggs. “Under the quarantine, it is...

VIDEOA very DRAMATIC carjacking notable for two reasons. One because one of the vehicles carjacked was a Tesla and, more importantly, this carjacking and police chase which involved all three South Florida counties of Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach terminated right near where I live. This happened a few days ago and had I decided to go to nearby Big Daddy's for a liquor pickup or to eat in the adjoining Flanigan's, I could have been the one carjacked on the way home.A very DRAMATIC carjacking notable for two reasons. Gregory Tony and his subordinates partner with those who wish us harm. In 2014, then-Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel set a terrible precedent, when he hired Nezar Hamze, a representative from CAIR, a group with numerous links to terrorism, as a Deputy at the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO). Hamze ‘opened doors’ for Sheriff Israel, by introducing the Sheriff at radical mosques. Five years later, Israel was removed from his position and replaced with Gregory Tony. Yet, not only has Tony kept Hamze on the force, but he has gone much further in his embrace of Islamists, even having them participate...

Prosecutors of Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz called for an investigation Friday after a juror said another panelist threatened her during the deliberations that ended with a life sentence for Cruz's murder of 17 people four years ago at Parkland's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Prosecutor Carolyn McCann told Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer during a brief hearing that prosecutors are not trying to invalidate Thursday's jury vote and reported the threat only for safety reasons and so the Broward County Sheriff's Office can investigate. In their written motion asking for the hearing, prosecutors said the juror told them another juror...

Former Broward County Mayor Dale Holness is, once again, running for the congressional seat recently left vacant with the passing of US Representative Alcee Hastings. He only lost by a mere five votes in the 2021 special election primary to Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, who now holds the seat and is seeking reelection, and to make up for last year’s deficit, it seems Holness is openly courting Muslims associated with terror and bigotry. On July 30th, his campaign sponsored a ‘Night of Appreciation’ featuring Shafayat Mohamed, an anti-gay imam from an al-Qaeda-linked mosque. In Holness’ desperation to win this seat, he is...

VIDEOWith the indictment of Andrew Gillum today it is easy to forget how close this Corruptocrat came to becoming governor of Florida in 2018 thanks to highly suspect late ballots that kept being "discovered" and counted long after the polls closed in Broward County. Fortunately the then governor of Florida Rick Scott put a stop to this nonsense and forced the resignation of the Broward County Supervisor of Elections. However Broward County came very very close to making Gillum the governor over Ron DeSantis and might have done so if the very very delayed late vote count had not been...
