Teresa Sullivan, president of the University of Virginia, said all the right things when fraternity members at her school were accused of gang rape: she followed the PC playbook and nobody could fault her for missing her lines. She automatically assumed guilt, and was fast off the mark to let everyone know that the university opposed rape and stood with rape survivors (as if that was ever in doubt). She didn't wait for the facts, she dropped the presumption of innocence, and ran with the hounds. The wrongs described in Rolling Stone are appalling and have caused all of us...

Link http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-7715-Portland-Civil-Rights-Examiner~y2009m9d29-Brodhead-urges-Michael-Steele-to-reconsider-his-proabortion-views There is at least one Politician in Oregon who isn’t following the downhill slope of Moral Relativism. Stephan Brodhead has publicly called for Michael Steele to reconsider his position of Pro-Abortion Candidates. Call it Pro-Choice if you like, it is in reality, the ending of a human life. Michael Steele on Sept 17th gave an interview to the Columbus Dispatch stating that he “absolutely” believes that there is room in the GOP for a Pro-Abortion candidate. “I absolutely disagree. The Republican Party is the party of life,” said Stephan Brodhead, who is running in Oregon for District 1...

St. Helens, Oregon Aug. 14th 2009 It seems that Oregon Congressman David Wu's St. Helens Health Care town hall was not as controlled or manipulated as his Seaside event which I also attended. But again the venue was much too small, and once again hundreds of voters were left outside. This time van loads of immigration reform activists came very early and garnered two complete rows in the small town hall meeting area. Instead of asking about health care, they asked David Wu about immigration reform. They then reminded him that they were voters and requested that he support legislation...

Today's Guest Author is Stephan Andrew Brodhead who is running for the House of Representatives in Oregon's Congressional District #1. _____________________________________________ Health Care is at the top of the American consciousness this summer. It seems that just about everyone has an opinion on it, and there are many people who are passionate about their beliefs on both sides of the argument. As a candidate for the House of Representatives District 1, I feel it is my duty to honestly listen to as many people as possible who feel strongly enough to attend Town Hall meetings that are taking place all...

Monday August 10th saw Oregon and Oregonians truly leading the Nation by example with the outstanding good grace of her citizens. GOP Candidate for Congress Stephan A. Brodhead joined a crowd that at its height saw an estimated 1000 people engaging their first amendment rights of free speech, peaceful assembly and the right to redress their grievances with their representative in Congress. While walking through the milling crowd waiting outside the McMinnville Police Station, Steve handed out approximately 200 bottles of water to anyone that might want or need it in the over 80 degree heat. During the lively spirited...

It’s a wonderful thing isn’t it? Government passing along taxpayer dollars to train high tech workers? Our District 1 Representative David Wu, is attempting to acquire 500 million over 5 years to train high tech workers to learn to write software for the Healthcare industry with the 10,000 by 2010 legislation. Isn’t that just lovely? Well, not exactly. (snip) So, to sum up this insane waste, David Wu is attempting to acquire 500 Million dollars to train people who are already trained and already looking for work but cannot find it, in an industry with no demand for it.

As the founder and sole member of the Sheldon Award Society, I am dedicated to identifying the worst college president of each academic year. So far the presidents or chancellors of Berkeley, Georgetown, DePaul, and countless other universities have copped the Sheldon. Somewhat mysteriously, none offered to resign. snip The last of our three finalists is president of Duke, Richard Brodhead. Because Michael Nifong made himself such a spectacular villain in the lacrosse case, Mr. Brodhead escaped without much criticism. But here is what Mr. Brodhead did: On hearing the first reports, he abruptly canceled the lacrosse season, suspended the...

DURHAM, N.C. — Duke University President Richard Brodhead apologized Saturday for not better supporting the men's lacrosse players falsely accused in last year's highly publicized rape scandal. "Given the complexities of this case, getting the communication right would never have been easy," Brodhead said. "But the fact is that we did not get it right, causing the families to feel abandoned when they were most in need of support. This was a mistake. I take responsibility for it and I apologize for it."

On March 28, 2006, the four co-captains of the Duke lacrosse team accused of gang-raping an exotic dancer met with university president Richard Brodhead. One of the captains, David Evans, emotionally protested that the team was innocent and apologized for the misbegotten stripper party. "Brodhead's eyes filled with tears," write Stuart Taylor Jr. and KC Johnson in their new book on the case, "Until Proven Innocent" (420 pages. Thomas Dunne Books. $26.95). Brodhead "said that the captains should think of how difficult it had been for him." The misbehavior of the players, said Duke's president, "had put him in a...

Durham, NC -- I join with everyone who cares about justice in welcoming the North Carolina State Attorney General’s announcement that the remaining charges have been dropped against David Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann. This announcement comes at the end of an extraordinarily painful year for the young men and their families. They have carried themselves with dignity through an ordeal of deep unfairness. Let’s be clear about what was said today. The Attorney General did not dismiss the allegations on narrow, equivocal or legalistic ground. He determined our students to be innocent of the charges and said they...

DURHAM - To press forward in the Duke University lacrosse case, District Attorney Mike Nifong must rely on scanty evidence while deflecting serious questions about whether he broke the law or violated the ethics rules governing prosecutors. Nifong has acknowledged that the case now hangs on what the accuser says from the witness stand in a hearing scheduled for February. Meanwhile, pressure on Nifong continues to build. The State Bar has received multiple complaints demanding that he be disbarred. A congressman has called on the U.S. Justice Department to investigate him. And when the case returns to court, Nifong might...

3."Colin Finnerty’s parents contacted (Duke Univ. President) Brodhead to ask for permission to transfer credits from other colleges. . . Brodhead refused to meet with them despite several requests. Finally, the person in charge of the annual giving program told Brodhead that, unless he agreed to see the Finnerties, he would resign. Only then did Brodhead agree to meet them. In the meeting, Brodhead remained intransigent and he and Mrs. Finnerty got into terrible argument. The Finnerties walked out because Brodhead started insulting them." (excerpt from a statement at Talk Left by an offical spokesman for Friends of Duke Univeristy)

Note to Editors: Duke University President Richard H. Brodhead sent the following email message this evening to the university’s students, faculty and staff, as well as to the parents of undergraduates As you may know, we learned from reports in the news media last evening that an organization known as the New Black Panther Party had announced that it plans to hold a demonstration at the Chapel Drive entrance to West Campus on Monday morning, May 1. These reports indicated the group intended to enter the campus and that they may be carrying guns. Guns are not permitted on Duke’s...
