Britain will provide 150,000 drones to ​Ukraine by the end ‌of 2026 as part of a £752 million ($996 million) ​funding package, defence ​minister Dan Jarvis said on ⁠Thursday at a ​meeting of the Ukraine ​Defense Contact Group in Brussels. The package, funded by Britain's £2.26 ​billion loan to ​Ukraine, includes 350 air defence missiles ‌and ⁠ground-based radar systems. The loan is backed by proceeds from immobilised ​Russian sovereign ​assets. Jarvis, ⁠who co-chaired the meeting with his ​German counterpart, met ​with ⁠U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and other ⁠defence ​ministers including ​France and Ukraine.

Moscow has come under the largest Ukrainian attack since the start of the full-scale war, with close to 200 drones hitting targets around the Russian capital and setting columns of thick smoke billowing high into the sky. Seventeen people were wounded in the Moscow region, according to local governor Andrei Vorobyov. Hundreds of thousands of Moscow residents are understood to be without power after Ukrainian drones attacked the city.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has denied allegations by Russia that Ukraine launched a drone attack on one of President Vladimir Putin's residences, and accused Moscow of trying to derail peace talks. Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed Kyiv had launched an attack overnight using 91 long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on Putin's state residence in Russia's northwestern Novgorod region. Russia said it would now review its position in peace negotiations. It is not yet clear where Putin was at the time of the alleged attack. President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday shared a video of himself rallying troops at Kupyansk, a city Russia claimed to have taken control of. In the video, the city limit sign for Kupyansk is visible in the background, with intermittent explosions audible. The Kremlin claimed to have captured the city in late November and invited journalists to visit it alongside Russian troops. Zelensky rallied troops and said battlefield gains could influence ongoing peace talks.
