As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair Jennifer Homendy announced the voyage data recorder known as the “black box’ was recovered from the DALI cargo ship that crashed into the Francis Scott Key bridge early Tuesday morning. On Tuesday evening, Homendy and NTSB investigator Marcel Muise held a press conference to reveal the data on the DALI’s black box, also known as the Voyage Data Recorder (VDR).

The investigation and recovery after the catastrophic bridge strike over the Patapsco River continues, with National Transportation Safety Board officials having boarded the MV Dali and professionals continuing to seek victims of the collapse. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) officials have now removed the MV Dali’s data recorder — like the famous ‘black boxes’ of commercial aircraft — which upon evaluation may contain further information about the cause of the loss of propulsion that seems to have contributed to Tuesday’s disaster. Among the more mundane reasons for the “lost propulsion” that would have left the ship not able to steer...

Thousands of migrants have been camping out beneath a bridge in Eagle Pass, Texas — though you wouldn’t be able to tell by viewing the city’s livestream where the overflow facility is obstructed by a giant black box. The alteration was visible in live footage shared by the border city, which experienced an unpreceded surge of some 4,000 migrants on Wednesday — prompting officials to declare a state of emergency. “I am aware that there are 2,000-4,000 [migrants] under the Bridge and more are coming,” Mayor Rolando Salinas told The Post Wednesday. “We’ve also been in contact with Union Pacific...

Flight data from a black box recovered from a Chinese plane crash earlier this year indicates someone in the cockpit intentionally crashed the jet, it's been reported. The China Eastern Boeing 737-800 went into a sudden nosedive, appeared to briefly recover, and then slammed into the ground in the mountainous Guangxi area on March 21. Today, the Wall Street Journal cited U.S. officials' preliminary assessment - who analysed both black boxes at a government lab in Washington, DC - which they say puts the finger at a person inside the most secure area of a plane. The crew is being...

Investigators did not seek a search warrant for Woods’ blood samples, which could be screened for drugs and alcohol. In 2017, Woods checked himself into a clinic for help in dealing with prescription drug medication after a DUI charge in his home state of Florida. Detectives, however, did obtain a search warrant for the data recorder of the 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV, known as a black box. Villanueva would not say Wednesday what data had been found in the black box.

As countries across the globe are left grappling with the coronavirus crisis, most people are not satisfied with their leaders’ response to the outbreak, according to a new report. Citizens from just seven out of 23 countries rate their governments’ coronavirus containment measures as broadly positive, based on the “Global Crisis Perceptions” index released Wednesday by insights agencies Blackbox Research and Toluna. The research, which surveyed approximately 12,500 people across 23 countries between April 3 and 19, asked respondents to rate their nations across four key indicators: national political leadership, corporate leadership, community and media.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said on Jan. 10 that his country’s investigators have been given access to the flight data recorders that were recovered from the wreckage of a Ukrainian plane that went down in Iran, killing all 176 people on board. “Our team has gained access to the ‘black boxes’, we plan to begin reconstruction of the conversations in the near future,” Prystaiko said. Prystaiko’s comments came as allegations grow that an Iranian anti-aircraft missile shot down the plane. Prystaiko said investigators also have been given access to the recordings of air-traffic controllers at the Tehran airport. Although...

Flight data recovered from the wreckage of an Ethiopian Airlines jet showed “clear similarities” to another deadly crash of one of Boeing’s top-selling 737 Max aircraft last October, according to the French accident investigator that downloaded the information. Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, a Boeing 737 Max 8, went down shortly after takeoff from Addis Ababa on March 10, killing all 157 people on board. That occurred less than five months after a Lion Air jet crashed into the Java Sea in Indonesia during a similar stage in its flight, killing all 189 passengers and crew. Both 737 Max 8 jets...

The flight data recorder contains information consistent with fault warnings transmitted by the Airbus Group SE A320 that pointed to smoke in one of the lavatories and the avionics bay, where key electronics are housed, Egyptian crash investigators said. Wreckage recovered from the plane that crashed on May 19, killing all 66 people aboard, also showed signs of high temperature damage and soot, they said. The findings are the most concrete evidence yet that a small number of automated messages transmitted by the Airbus A320 pointing to problems on the plane weren’t erroneous. They also are likely intensify the investigation...

- Russian submarine strikes - International concern over the conflict has grown with the emergence of IS as a major threat, after it seized large parts of Syria and Iraq and carried out operations abroad including last month's Paris attacks. The jihadists have also kidnapped hundreds of people, including more than 200 members of Syria's Assyrian Christian minority in the northeast province of Hasakeh in February. On Wednesday, IS freed 25 Assyrian captives, including two children, the Assyrian Human Rights Network said. Up to 125 hostages are believed to still be held after successive releases. A US-led coalition launched air...

“If you look at all the code in this car,” Dr. Patel said, “it’s easily as much as a smartphone if not more.” New high-end cars are among the most sophisticated machines on the planet, containing 100 million or more lines of code. Compare that with about 60 million lines of code in all of Facebook or 50 million in the Large Hadron Collider.

Google Chrome Listening In To Your Room Shows The Importance Of Privacy Defense In Depth Yesterday, news broke that Google has been stealth downloading audio listeners onto every computer that runs Chrome, and transmits audio data back to Google. Effectively, this means that Google had taken itself the right to listen to every conversation in every room that runs Chrome somewhere, without any kind of consent from the people eavesdropped on. In official statements, Google shrugged off the practice with what amounts to “we can do that”.It looked like just another bug report. "When I start Chromium, it downloads something."...

Information from the second black box found in the wreckage of the Germanwings flight that crashed in the French Alps confirms the co-pilot acted deliberately and even accelerated as the doomed plane descended, investigators said Friday. "A first reading shows that the pilot in the cockpit used the automatic pilot to descend the plane towards an altitude of 100 feet (30 metres)," said the French BEA crash investigation office in a statement. "Then, several times during the descent, the pilot changed the automatic pilot settings to increase the aircraft's speed," added the investigators.

Warning alarms can be heard "screaming" on the cockpit voice recorder of AirAsia Flight 8501 before it crashed, an investigator was quoted as saying Wednesday. Among the audible alerts is one that indicated the plane is stalling, the investigator told Agence France-Presse (AFP) and the Wall Street Journal. NBC News was immediately unable to confirm the accounts. The reports come a day after Indonesia's transport minister said the Airbus A320, which crashed last month with 162 people on board, was climbing at an abnormally high rate before it plunged and disappeared from radar. "The warning [alarms] kept on screaming, and...

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite being an investigator for almost two decades, analysing the Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ8501 will be one of the toughest challenging for Nurcahyo Utomo, who knew the pilot personally. The National Transportation Safety Committee investigator, Nurchayo said listening to recording from black boxes over and over again can be disturbing and requires utmost mental strength. “Listening to the playback of a black box involved in a crash is not like listening to music or a discussion. “We are listening to a recording that represents the last moments before the crash and it is disturbing. There are times where...

Following the recovery of the two “black boxes” aboard the crashed AirAsia Flight QZ8501, a story on Yahoo! News reports that “Allahuakhbar, Allahuakhbar were the last words [the pilots] said before they died.” AirAsia Flight QZ8501, a flight out of Surabaya, Indonesia and bound for Singapore, took off early Sunday December 28, 2014 in what can only be described as violent weather. The pilots, amidst the storm, radioed in, asking air traffic control for permission to turn left and climb to a higher altitude to avert the storm. A little while later, the plane crashed into the Java Sea, taking...
