WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser said on Tuesday the Black Lives Matter Plaza near the White House will be redesigned as part of a new mural project after threats by Republicans to cut transportation funding if the plaza was not renamed. Republican U.S. Representative Andrew Clyde introduced a bill on Monday that urged the District of Columbia to rename the Black Lives Matter Plaza or have the U.S. Congress withhold federal transportation funds. Republicans hold a majority in both chambers of Congress. Bowser, a Democrat, has been a vocal critic over the years of Republican President Donald Trump....

The House Appropriations Committee DID NOT adopt my amendment to defund the Left’s lawfare against President Trump. Why? Not enough Republicans showed up to vote. Utter disgrace. But the fight isn’t over. Stay tuned.

Months later in September, he still could not provide a comprehensive coronavirus testing plan to the committee.... ...For examples of their mismanagement, look no further than the recent rise of COVID at the border and neighboring communities. Over the summer in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, the number of detainees testing positive for COVID-19 increased by 900%. Imagine how many more Americans have been infected due to the Biden administration’s negligence.......

The 10-member panel on the House Ethics Committee voted Thursday to drop the $5,000 fine issued to Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), who challenged the report by the Capitol that said she failed to complete a security screening before entering the House building. This is the third time a majority of the evenly split bipartisan panel voted in favor of waiving the metal detector fee since the Jan. 6 protest at the Capitol. In May the Capitol Police issued a report that documented an incident where Foxx set off a metal detector in front of a door to the House chamber....

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) called the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol an “insurrection against the Constitution” as some GOP lawmakers sought to minimize the violence this week. The comment came as several Republicans, including Reps. Andrew Clyde (Ga.), Jody Hice (Ga.) and Paul Gosar (Ariz.), downplayed or made false claims about the attack. Clyde asserted during a House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing on Wednesday that calling the events of Jan. 6 an "insurrection" was a “boldfaced lie.” Speaking to HuffPost on Thursday, Romney noted that the mob attack resulted in severe property damage and death. “I was...

Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) on Friday began asking Democratic colleagues to sign onto a resolution to censure three House Republicans who tried to minimize the severity of the Jan. 6 insurrection this week. In a letter to fellow House Democrats, Cicilline said that a resolution will be forthcoming to specifically censure Republican Reps. Andrew Clyde (Ga.), Jody Hice (Ga.) and Paul Gosar (Ariz.) for their remarks at a House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing on Wednesday downplaying and making false claims about the violent attack on the Capitol.
