A woman member of Iraq's Governing Council has been shot and seriously wounded. Akila al-Hashim was hit twice in the stomach, once in the shoulder and once in the leg outside her home in western Baghdad. Ms Hashimi is in a serious condition at an American military hospital after undergoing surgery. Iraqi officials say at least one and possibly more people have been arrested in connection with the attack.
