Colorado district attorneys warned the governor that he set a "troubling precedent" when he intervened in the Rogel Aguilera-Mederos case. District attorneys warned Gov. Jared Polis that he created “a troubling precedent” in commuting Rogel Aguilera-Mederos’ prison sentence while the case was still pending, saying the act weakened public trust in the law. In a letter to Polis, District Attorneys Michael Dougherty and Daniel Rubenstein — a Democrat and a Republican, respectively — agreed that the 110-year sentence in the deadly interstate crash “was too severe.” But they stressed that by commuting the sentence to 10 years before a judge...

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis on Thursday commuted the prison term of a truck driver who was sentenced to 110 years after a fatal accident in 2019, reducing the sentence to 10 years. The man, Rogel Aguilera-Mederos, 26, killed four people on April 25, 2019, after, he said, his brakes failed on the downhill grade on Interstate 70 eastbound outside Denver. Prosecutors argued that Aguilera-Mederos acted recklessly and made a series of poor decisions before the wreck

DENVER, May 3 (Reuters) - A Texas truck driver who police say caused a fiery multi-vehicle crash near Denver last week that killed four people and injured four was charged on Friday with 40 criminal counts including vehicular manslaughter, prosecutors said. Police in Lakewood, Colorado said they arrested 23-year-old Rogel Lazaro Aguilera-Mederos after he lost control of his tractor-trailer truck during the evening rush hour on April 25 and caused a crash on Interstate 70 that involved at least 28 vehicles.

U.S. House candidate Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera has a long list of accomplishments to bolster her campaign in Florida. But she is perhaps best known for claiming that she was abducted by space aliens as a child. Rodriguez Aguilera is a longshot in the race for the Miami-area seat being vacated by retiring Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. Yet last weekend, the Miami Herald endorsed her for the GOP nomination in the Tuesday primary out of a field of nine candidates. In an interview, Rodriguez Aguilera said she is grateful for the endorsement and that her tale of kidnapping by aliens does...

Excerpted from The Huffington Post: Back in October, when Christina Aguilera was being honored for her philanthropic work as a UN World Food Programme Ambassador, Hillary Clinton was caught on camera seemingly checking out the pop star’s cleavage. And lest anyone thought the photo was fake, Aguilera confirmed that the incident was very real on Friday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” “That looks like it was Photoshopped but it’s not. It was a real moment,” the “The Voice” coach said. “Could you feel her gazing down on your ‘breasteses?’” DeGeneres wanted to know. “She’s such a force in a...

This is really bad. Us Weekly has published what it claims are comments made by Sarah Palin, in which the former vice presidential candidate blasts Christina Aguilera’s performance of the national anthem at Super Bowl XLV. Except the over-the-top “quotes,” which Us Weekly attributes to a Monday radio interview with Sean Hannity, were actually written for a satire website. Again: Palin’s Aguilera comments are fabricated. They come from a satire piece. Only Us Weekly posted the “Palin” comments as real. Therefore, according to the outlet, Palin calls Aguilera a “demanding beauty queen who’s clearly in over her head.” The fake...

Christina Aguilera opened Super Bowl XLV in Arlington, TX by singing our National Anthem, the Star-Spangled Banner, in what may go down in history as the most embarassingly horrible rendition ever performed in public since Rosanne Barr's supposedly comedic version in 1990. Christina not only took the liberty of diva-ing up every single line within the song ... she completely forgot "O'er the ramparts we watched" and tangled up the subsequent lyrics as she proceeded to strangle every ounce of heart and soul out of the remainder of our precious anthem. Instead of the lyrics reflecting the emotional upheaval felt...

Instead of singing the lyrics “O’er the ramparts we watch’d, were so gallantly streaming,” Xtina sang the line “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming.” Aguilera’s representatives sent Speakeasy this statement from the singer: “I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”

The biggest moment any singer can ask for: "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl. And Christina Aguilera messed up the lyrics. At about 51 seconds in, as she was about to sing the fourth line ("O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming"), she accidentally sang a hybrid of the second line: "What so proudly we watched, at the twilight's last streaming." Like a professional, she seemed to know that she messed up, but kept going to the end. Check it out below.

Christina Aguilera's national anthem at Super Bowl XLV was the subject of two popular prop bets -- the length of her performance and the duration for which she held the final note. The line on the total anthem length was 1 minute, 54 seconds, a figure that she was nearly exactly at, according to unofficial times. Aguilera, however, forgot the line in the Star Spangled Banner about "the ramparts." If she had completed the anthem in full, she would have nearly certainly gone over the Vegas line. Her final note appeared to have lasted longer than the six seconds that...

by Steven ErteltLifeNews.com EditorAugust 30, 2007London, England (LifeNews.com) -- The London Guardian caused an international sensation last week when it reported that a leading pro-life advocate who monitors music group and artists indicated singers Christina Aguilera and Avril Lavigne were pro-life. However, LifeNews.com has learned the activist never told the newspaper that. The singers were in the news because Erik Whittington, director of Rock for Life, was upset that Amnesty International put out a CD featuring them and other artists. The album's purpose was purportedly to raise funds for the victims of Darfur but money going to Amnesty International would now fund...

Amnesty International, which formally announced two weeks ago a new worldwide policy backing women's right to abortion in some cases, is being charged with having "duped" pro-life pop stars who contributed their time and talents to a CD released to raise money by the anti-torture group for victims of violence in Darfur. "The human suffering going on right now in Darfur is horrific," said Erik Whittington, American Life League's youth outreach director and director of Rock for Life, an organization of anti-abortion musicians. "To add insult to injury, however, using this tragic abuse of human rights to raise money for...

Let me get this straight. Dick Durbin digs up two instances of enemy combatants being subjected to uncomfortable temperature extremes, rap music, and suddenly we are the Khmer Rouge? Allow me to inform Senator Durbin that there a quite a few people in this country who regularly endure spells of cold that no air conditioner could hope to re-create.These folks are called 'Alaskans,' or sometimes just 'Northerners.'There are also quite a few of us who regularly have to endure long periods of 100 degree plus temperatures. They are called 'Texans.'As someone who has lived considerable amounts of time in both...

INTERROGATION techniques at Guantanamo Bay, including playing Christina Aguilera's music to keep terror suspects awake, have been highlighted in a report. ‘The Real Deal’ on teen sex Media also has to be responsible "The Real Cancun" featured body shots aplenty. COMMENTARYby Joe Scarborough May 20— A new study on teen sex should serve as a wakeup call for Americans. Almost 50 percent of high school students across America engage in teen sex, a large segment of those teenagers reporting as many as four sex partners per year. AS YOU KNOW, all that means more unwed teenage moms, more cases of kids getting AIDS, and more reasons why the federal government is taking more of...
