Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel has warned that Berlin may pull its troops from Turkey following a recent deterioration in relations. WASHINGTON (AP) -- The State Department and Pentagon ordered the families of U.S. diplomats and military personnel Tuesday to leave posts in southern Turkey due to security fears. The two agencies said dependents of American staffers at the U.S. consulate in Adana, the Incirlik air base and two other locations must leave. The so-called "ordered departure" notice means the relocation costs will be covered by the government. In a statement, the military's European Command said the step "allows for the deliberate, safe return of family members from these areas due to continued security concerns in the region."

Turkish police in the southern city of Adana have arrested a suspected female suicide bomber who was carrying nearly 12 kilogrammes of explosives, two handgrenades and 12 detonators. The arrest, which followed an anonymous tip, came one day after six people were killed and more than 100 injured in a suicide bomb attack in the capital Ankara. The suicide bomber allegedly had ties with the banned Kurdish separatists movement PKK.

ISTANBUL, Turkey - The United States on Monday moved its consulate in the southern Turkish city of Adana to a more secure building across town amid, a U.S. official said, citing security concerns. In June, a Turkish assailant tossed two bombs into the garden of the consulate, causing minor damage but no injuries.
