The Justice Department told a federal court on Tuesday, October 27, that the search warrant used at Rep. Ilhan Omar‘s Washington home had been only partly carried out and that prosecutors expected to fully execute it “in short order.” A public charging decision would come after that, according to the filing. The redacted 47-page document opposed requests from news outlets to unseal the warrant records. Prosecutors asked the court to deny those requests without prejudice, allowing the outlets to refile once the search ended and a charging decision became public. No charges against Omar had been announced. What the disclosure...

The politician announced this during a speech at the extraordinary congress of his League party, where he was overwhelmingly confirmed as national secretary. "If you confirm me as secretary at this congress, then I consider this a mandate to defend the League's position at the upcoming Council of Ministers meeting, which is that we can no longer send money and weapons to Ukraine," Salvini said

With just five days to go before the midterms, President Trump and other Republicans are on a campaign blitz. President Trump was in Chillicothe, Ohio, last night for a rally. Outside, Trump supporters clashed with leftists, and things turned violent. Video circulating on social media shows the moment police realize a Trump supporter was stabbed, and that the weapon — described as possibly a pocket knife with an orange hilt) was still in the victim's back. (Editor's note: this video contains strong language, viewer discretion is advised)

"All Scripture is . . . profitable for . . . reproof" (2 Tim. 3:16). People who aren’t interested in holy living will avoid being exposed to sound doctrine. Paul instructed Timothy to "preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction" (2 Tim. 4:2). He knew a time was coming when many people would reject sound doctrine, and "wanting to have their ears tickled, [would] accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and . . . turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn...

David Jolly, a former Republican congressman who is now running as a Democrat against U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds to replace Ron DeSantis as Florida governor, is raising eyebrows in the Sunshine State with his suggestion that boys have a constitutional right to play on girls’ sports teams. His comments came during the “To the Contrary” podcast Charlie Sykes last year, and were unearthed Wednesday by Libs of TikTok. Florida Gov candidate David Jolly (D) suggests boys have a constitutional right to play on girl’s sports teams: “Their constitutional rights… It’s pretty disgusting what we’ve seen from Republicans on this..” “Be...

On El Hierro Island in Spain, they set out to build an electricity system powered only by wind, with backup from a pumped-storage hydroelectric plant. The relevant statistics for El Hierro are: average electricity demand: 5 MW; nameplate capacity of the wind turbines: 11.5 MW (i.e., 2.3x “overbuild” compared to average usage); storage capacity of the pumped storage system: 70 MWh (i.e., 14 hours of average usage). The operator of the facility has provided eight years of operating data for the system. I reported on the results in my last post on October 23. In summary, the wind/storage system provided...

A new European pilot fatigue report says more than three out of four pilots experienced a microsleep in the cockpit over the previous month. Read the survey device, though, and it also counts pilots who were fighting to keep their eyes open. That’s not good! But it’s not actually the same thing. What’s useful is that it helps us understand when flying becomes fatiguing, why a legal schedule can still be a bad schedule, and where American pilot rules still fall short. What The Survey Actually Asked The original is A fatigue survey of European Pilots – 2026, prepared by...

It still leads rivals MS NOW and CNN by wide margins, however. ======================================================================= In the “two things can be true” category: Fox News still holds sizable ratings leads in cable news over CNN and MS NOW. Both are comfortably ahead of MS NOW (925,000 primetime, 588,000 full day) and CNN (598,000, 402,000). In the key news demographic of adults 25-54, things...

Once socialism is embedded in our laws and institutions, the march to communism begins. Imagine you own an apartment building and need to sell it. The mortgage comes due, insurance premiums keep climbing, repairs cannot wait, and you have found a willing buyer. You have negotiated a price and are ready to close. Then New York City tells you to wait. Your financial obligations do not wait. Your buyer may not wait. But under New York City’s Community Opportunity to Purchase Act, known as COPA, the government can insert a lengthy process between you and the sale of your own...

Alaska’s Republican governor announced early Thursday he was ordering an investigation into whether members of Democrat Mary Peltola’s Senate campaign should face criminal charges following the revelation that they recruited a candidate with the same name as GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan in a bid to siphon votes away from the incumbent. After the plot was revealed in a Wednesday New York Times report, Gov. Mike Dunleavy described it as “an organized effort to manipulate Alaska’s elections by recruiting candidates—including one with the same name as an incumbent U.S. Senator—to deliberately confuse voters and misdirect their votes.” “I am therefore directing...

Unexpectedly, a kind of protein that is usually linked with diseases in the brain may play a vital role in semen, helping shepherd genetic material into sperm cells, scientists at Columbia's Zuckerman Institute report today in the research journal Molecular Cell. Dr. Fitzpatrick, an expert on amyloids in brain research, wondered if those fibrils could also help materials naturally in the body enter sperm: specifically, the genetic molecule RNA, which helps turn instructions encoded in DNA into protein molecules. Scientists knew that seminal fluid contains lots of small RNAs, thought to play a major role in what genes are active...

Lee Elder will never forget when a friend asked him to be one of her pallbearers. At 16 years old, he carried her casket. Elder and his friends were members of the Tucson Mountain Congregation in Arizona. After Elder’s friend was diagnosed with leukemia, chemotherapy and radiation made her anemic; as a Witness, she refused the standard treatment of a blood transfusion. Combined with her cancer, she only got sicker until she died in 1976 as a teenager. Elder, the executive director and founder of the Alliance for Jehovah’s Witness Research and Bioethics, stopped being an active Witness in the...

On a hot summer evening in Indianapolis, United States, immigrant families gathered inside Maranatha Haitian Seventh-day Adventist Church to prepare for a possibility many hoped they would never face: being suddenly separated from their children or other dependents because of immigration enforcement. On August 25 two dozen families attended a legal clinic hosted by the church and sponsored by the Coalition for Our Immigrant Neighbors, or COIN. Volunteers helped families prepare legal documents and emergency plans so that trusted individuals could care for minor children, other dependents, and financial matters if parents or caregivers were detained or deported. The clinic...
