The Justice Department told a federal court on Tuesday, October 27, that the search warrant used at Rep. Ilhan Omar‘s Washington home had been only partly carried out and that prosecutors expected to fully execute it “in short order.”
A public charging decision would come after that, according to the filing. The redacted 47-page document opposed requests from news outlets to unseal the warrant records.
Prosecutors asked the court to deny those requests without prejudice, allowing the outlets to refile once the search ended and a charging decision became public. No charges against Omar had been announced.
What the disclosure could trigger
The filing warned that naming the subjects of an investigation, and showing where investigators got their information, could lead to flight, destroyed evidence, or obstruction. Prosecutors added that a release could reveal confidential informants and the strategy agents chose.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro wrote that “unsealing everything now … imperils the investigation, and publicly exposes suspected criminal wrongdoing.”
Pirro added that redacted documents could be unsealed “so the public can see how the legal process played out.”
“The Search Warrant Records need not remain sealed indefinitely,” prosecutors wrote. “The United States trusts that, with the Court’s help, the warrant will be fully executed soon, and it anticipates that a public charging decision will follow.”
Who asked to see the records
Three separate applications landed before Chief Judge James Boasberg of the District of Columbia federal court.
It sought the warrant, the application behind it, the probable cause affidavits, and the sealing orders.
The group cited a 2008 ruling from the same court that treated public release of warrant materials as routine once a search was carried out and a return was available.

Will officials charge and arrest her before the election? Or after?
Or not at all?
My bet is on Option 3. This is all a dog and pony show.
I originally felt that this was political theater, I’m not so sure at this point
EXCLUSIVE: Trump’s DOJ Fights to Keep Ilhan Omar Raid Secrets Buried as Criminal Investigation Intensifies
The pessimist in me says that she’ll be in there until Sharia law is imposed in the state of Minnesota.
The optimist says we might have a chance to get her the hell out of there.
Goody! We’re going to have a ‘full execution’!
Oh. that’s not what it means.
😖
Still with the smug look. Maybe she can run for mare of mogadishou.
In my best Yosemite Sam voice: “THAT HORSE? MAYOR?”
OK, I'll take that bet for $ 100, loser pays to FR.
I say they formally, criminally charge the mooselimb bitch, but I will not bet on her being found guilty in a DC court.
Just post an acceptance of this bet within the next week, and we have a bet.
If not, stop saying "My bet".
I think first they have to have a pretend trial, then a pretend sentencing, THEN the full execution.
> Oh. that’s not what it means.
DAMMIT I wanted a Full Execution. :-)
If there is to be a bet, we have to agree on a date in the very near future by which charges will be formally made. Let me know when you think the latest date will be.
I say this since we now know the DOJ has had the goods on Omar since the Obama administration. It really won’t do either of us any good to wait another 10 years to see if they do or if they don’t.
