California shoppers could soon be paying even more at the checkout line as a sweeping new state recycling measure threatens to send grocery prices soaring, with dairy manufacturers warning some businesses may be forced to shut down or flee the Golden State. For years, my classmates and I have been taught that rebellion means rejecting everything that came before us. Question authority. Tear down institutions. Challenge traditions. Distrust capitalism. Mock patriotism. Treat faith as outdated, the family as optional, and America as something to apologize for instead of celebrate. That script isn’t rebellious anymore. It is predictable, conformist, and boring. Walk onto almost any college campus, scroll through social media, or turn on Hollywood, and you’ll hear the same message repeated in different forms. America is systemically broken. Capitalism is exploitative. Christianity is oppressive. The nuclear family is obsolete. National pride is...

Sick trolls have responded to the death of GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham with gloating remarks and other twisted comments. But the late South Carolina pol, who died Saturday at age 71, also received support from an unlikely source: Monica Lewinsky, the onetime young White House lover of Democratic then-President Bill Clinton. “Lindsey Graham is dead. Have a great Sunday!” said “Game of Thrones” star and activist Liam Cunningham on X. Author Seth Harp posted, “I was going to go piss on Lindsey Graham’s grave, but when I got out of the army, I vowed that I would never wait in...

Argentina's foreign minister called Falklands Islanders an "artificially implanted" population in a lengthy essay demanding Britain enter talks to hand over the territory. Pablo Quirno said the 2013 referendum held on the archipelago, in which islanders chose to remain British, was illegitimate and called for negotiations over the Falklands' future. "Time does not transform an illegitimate occupation into sovereignty. Nor will it divide the territorial unity of the Argentine Republic," Mr Quirno argued in La Nacion, Argentina's leading conservative paper. He said that the 1982 war and the 2013 vote had failed to resolve the Falklands dispute, and added that...

A small boat crossed the English Channel on Friday carrying 128 people, the largest-ever recorded number to make the journey in a single vessel. The boat made the journey on Friday, when a total of 225 migrants crossed the Channel on three boats. More than 12,000 people have reached the UK in small boats so far this year, a fall of 44% on the same period last year. A Home Office spokesperson said: "Smuggling gangs are taking greater risks than ever, with the number of people they are cramming into unseaworthy boats rising year on year." The previous record for...

Joe Scarborough phoned in to Sunday's edition of The Weekend on MS NOW to share remembrances of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham. But Scarborough couldn't resist the opportunity to burnish his liberal street cred—while inserting a self-serving anecdote about Iran policy. Liberal Street Cred Maintenance: "I often would disagree very strongly with his policy positions, especially after he became such a close ally to President Trump... I've been less than gracious with him on the air time and time again as it related to his alliances with Donald Trump." Bragging on Warning Trump on Iran: "I remember calling President Trump,...

A Southern California company just received approval to test a space mirror that would reflect sunlight to dark parts of planet Earth. The Federal Communications Commission issued a license on Thursday to Reflect Orbital, an energy company based in Hawthorne. The license officially allows Reflect Orbital to launch its Earendil-1 satellite using frequencies in UHF, S-band and X-band for “telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C) and data downlink to support deployment and testing of a solar reflector.” Reflect Orbital will only be allowed to deploy one satellite at a time for now, the license states. “Earendil-1 will use a deployable, highly...

Explanation: What's happening to galaxy NGC 474? The multiple layers of emission appear strangely complex given the relatively featureless appearance of the elliptical galaxy in less deep images. The cause of the shells is a topic of research, but they are possibly tidal tails related to debris left over from absorbing numerous small galaxies in the past billion years. Alternatively, the shells may be like ripples in a pond, where the ongoing collision with the spiral galaxy just to the right of NGC 474 is causing density waves to ripple through the galactic giant. Regardless of the actual cause, the...

When the power cut out and his signal dropped, TJ knew something was wrong. Seconds later, the banging started on his front door. Terrified, he stood as still as possible with his wife and three-year-old daughter, hoping they wouldn’t be noticed. But the Chinese police officers broke down the door, shoved his wife and child into a separate room and began to question TJ. “They grabbed my clothes and grabbed my hands so I couldn’t move. I could hear my daughter crying so much in the room next door but I couldn’t go to her, I couldn’t hug my wife,”...

Ah, there’s the question. And the simplest, straightest answer is the most obvious. Since everything in life is the outcome of choices for individuals’ great nations, for average nations, and for falling nations, the answer is always yes, based on the choices her people make. But we must keep in mind that making no choice at all turns out to be a choice, considering the recent outcome in New York City and in the state of Maine. It’d be great if we could laugh when we see that the people in New York City, who were too lazy to get...

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a chilling warning that cancer cases are exploding around the world, with the disease expected to soon affect more than 90 percent of the global population. Since the changes to American voting procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic—and the disputed 2020 presidential election that culminated in the events on Jan. 6 in Washington—millions of Americans have questioned whether the country’s election system is sufficiently transparent and secure. Whatever one thinks of the events of 2020, restoring public confidence in elections is a pressing national issue. With this in mind, the U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the SAVE Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility). The legislation would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections. Applicants would generally be expected to present acceptable...
