When I graduated with a degree in journalism three years ago, I'd hoped to have a full-time, salaried job in my field by now. Instead, most of my days are a hectic blend of part-time and unpaid roles. I often find myself running to my retail job in the morning, catching the train in the afternoon to pick up the kids I nanny for, coming home for a quick dinner, and then wrapping up the day with a few hours at my unpaid, remote internship. It's not exactly how I envisioned spending my 20s in New York, but here we...

Apocalyptic climate-change predictions were box-office gold for Hollywood but they did untold damage to the public psyche, economy and the average manâs pocketbook. Now the United Nationsâ influential climate change committee has quietly discarded the dire temperature-rise scenarios used in two previous reports predicting horrific consequences of global warming if greenhouse emissions werenât curbed. For years, lefty outfits â based on dubious climate science â screamed about the coming climate catastrophe: The New York Times warned that âClimate Change Is Harming The Planet Faster Than We Can Adapt,â âClimate Change Is Speeding Toward Catastropheâ and âA Hotter Future Is Certain.â...

For years, author Mark Steyn mentioned no-go zones and unassimilated communities. In 2017 Raheem Kassam authored the book No Go Zones: How Sharia Law is Coming to a Neighborhood Near You. A comment about the book included the following: âAs I read this book, I had forgotten how many people have been murdered in the West in the name of Islam. The commonness with which these attacks are occurring is frightening and even more so, is how numb weâve become to it. How much blood will be shed before politicians acknowledge the root cause of the problem? Europe is being...

If I didn't have my garage radio tuned to NPR (my early warning system) I never would have known about the stealth plan to build yet another "professional sports complex" with a price tag of $2.3 billion in Hillsborough County. I don't even know which sports team this one's for. The article featured Tampa's Mayor exclaiming they still had a lot of work to do on it but she hoped the "Commission" wouldn't need to "raise taxes" (hint, hint) to get it done. Excuse me, Ms. Mayor but where the hell have you been? In 2024 the County Commission got...

On his first day out black bear hunting in the Snowy Range Mountains, River Mossberg got his pickup hopelessly stuck and had to hike out to find help. His luck changed the next day, however. He spotted a â5XLâ-sized bear and stalked to within 118 yards for a clean rifle shot. His dad and best friend also got large bears, making them some of the most successful hunters so far in Wyomingâs spring bear hunting season. The Allure Of Spot-And-Stalk Hunting There are two methods of hunting bears in Wyoming. Some hunters use bear bait, usually in barrels that are...

Iconic burger chain Carlâs Jr. is under increasing financial pressure from both Californiaâs cost of doing business, $20 minimum wage rules and public safety issues that employees allege are spilling into the workplace. Carlâs Jr. has 588 stores in California as of 2025, but that number declined by 25 from 2023, when it had 613 stores in the state, according to internal franchise documents. Last month, a major franchisee filed for bankruptcy, affecting 11% of operations across the state. The doomed franchisee, Friendly Franchisees Corporation, last month explicitly blamed the stateâs relatively new $20 minimum fast-food wage touted by the...

The biggest issue for the Irish community in the United States is a current âsense of vulnerabilityâ, Minister of State for Diaspora Neale Richmond has said. Speaking to RTĂ News during a visit to the US, he said that both those who live legally in the US and those who are undocumented are worried about their own immigration status and that of their neighbors. When asked about increased efforts to arrest and detain migrants, he said people are scared. âTheyâre not necessarily seeing ICE in their neighborhoods. Theyâre not necessarily feeling under immediate threat. But between media reports, between the...

In recent days, President Trumpâs face has started popping up around New Delhi. His portrait, splashed across the red, white and blue of American flag, from the back of dozens of rickshaws buzzing all over the Indian capital. âHappy Birthday America!â the words read. â250 years old.â The campaign was launched last month by Sergio Gor, the U.S. ambassador to India, who has established a flair for spectacle since he arrived at his post in January. The U.S. Embassy announced the rollout on social media last month, saying âFreedom is on the move ⊠literally!â Dozens, possibly hundreds, of...

At a rally in a car park outside his campaign headquarters in Florence, Kentucky, on Saturday, congressman Thomas Massie said that the Republican politicians who joined him had made a brave choice. "I'm sure they'll be punished for coming here today," he said. It didn't take long for Massie's warning to prove prophetic, as Donald Trump took to Truth Social to make his displeasure known. Congresswoman Lauren Boebert of Colorado, who had been barnstorming with Massie all weekend, and Rand Paul, the Kentucky senator who endorsed Massie and shares his unorthodox small-government libertarianism, were "parading around like fools for the...

The twelve apostles included "Bartholomew [Nathanael]" (Matt. 10:3). God knows your heart and will honor your search for truth. Despite Nathanael's prejudice, Jesus knew he was an honest, sincere, Jewish believer in whom there was no religious hypocrisy or deceit (John 1:47). He truly sought after God and looked forward to the Messiah's coming. Most of the Jewish people of Jesus' day believed that every circumcised descendent of Abraham was a true Jew and a beneficiary of the Abrahamic covenant. But in Romans 2:28â29 Paul explains that salvation is an issue of the heart, not of national origin: "He is...

Daily Readings from the USCCBâI pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me, because they are yours, and everything of mine is yours and everything of yours is mine, and I have been glorified in them.â John 17:9â10Though the Church has traditionally summarized sin under the seven capital sins, sin is also understood to arise from three primary sources: the flesh, the world, and the devil. The âfleshâ refers to the disordered desires and passions that stem from our fallen human nature. The âworldâ signifies the societal values, materialism, and...

INTRODUCTION On April 29, 2026, Sen. Bernie Sanders convened a 75-minute panel in the US Capitol on âthe existential threat of AI.â Two of the four panelists were Chinese government affiliates: Zeng Yi, Dean of the Beijing Institute of AI Safety and Governance, and Xue Lan, a Tsinghua University professor who chairs Chinaâs national AI governance expert committee and serves as a Counsellor of the State Council of the Peopleâs Republic of China. From a US Senate platform, Xue called the US-China AI race âan inaccurate narrativeâ and argued for âsafe zonesâ of cooperation on AI safety. The event was...
