Muslim passengers being deported from Ireland to Pakistan were insensitively served pork sausages as part of a breakfast during their chartered flight. A Government-appointed human rights monitor branded the meal choice "inappropriate" aboard the journey from Dublin to Islamabad transporting 24 men to the Muslim-majority nation. The monitor's assessment noted "the quality of food was a low standard" and criticised the decision to include pork products for individuals travelling to an Islamic country – naturally defying the dietary practices of the religion. Before the flight – which cost Irish taxpayers €473,000 – the men were detained overnight across three separate...

(The Center Square)—The Los Angeles City Council’s delay on a $30-an-hour minimum wage has some groups shaking their heads and others clapping their hands. The vote came amid pressure from businesses threatening efforts to repeal the city’s gross receipts tax, which is a major source of revenue for Los Angeles. Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson has been quoted in various news reports as calling this a placeholder to keep talks...

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson When voters in Seattle handed the mayor’s office to self-proclaimed socialist Katie Wilson, local Democrat Rob Saka celebrated the “change.” He praised her energy and looked forward to a city that would “uplift working families” while fighting the resurgent Trump agenda. Less than five months later, Saka is singing a different tune. Speaking to the New York Times, the council member admitted he is “gravely concerned” about the accelerating business exodus. “This is real,” he conceded. Wilson’s infamous response to fleeing millionaires—”like, bye”—has aged about as well as her economic vision. The mayor laughed off warnings...
