Los Angles Mayor Karen Bass recently did a little victory dance about the ‘first rebuild’ of a house in the Pacific Palisades after the wildfires. Hey, it has only been almost a year, right? There is one little problem with the house that Bass is celebrating, however. It was a developer project that was in the works before the fires even happened. That’s right, this house wasn’t even one of the average homes destroyed by fires and her incompetence. What a surprise. The New York Post reports: LA Mayor Karen Bass called out for ‘phony’ Palisades rebuild after devastating wildfire...

...Investors Flee as World Wakes Up to Hacking, Seizures, and the Myth of Crypto Safety. Over the past six months, Bitcoin has seen its price tumble from highs above $120,000 to around $85,000, while gold has surged to nearly $4,100 per ounce—up over 50% year to date. This divergence perfectly reflects escalating fears: waves of bitcoin seizures, hacks, and asset forfeitures have hammered confidence in its “safe haven” and “unconfiscatable” narrative. As governmental power over digital wallets grows, investors are flocking to gold, reaffirming its historical role as the ultimate sanctuary and leaving Bitcoin in the shadow of mounting vulnerability...

As families across the U.S. gather on Thanksgiving to celebrate one of the nation’s most cherished national holidays, some educators and schools are lamenting the day, pushing back on its "colonial" roots, and incorporating diversity, equality and inclusion DEI into the holiday. At the University of California, Davis, the California History-Social Science Project, which describes itself as "Resources & professional learning for K-12 history-social science," hosted a Zoom event called "Decolonizing Thanksgiving in the Classroom." "We will discuss reframing classroom practices and rituals about Thanksgiving," the event description explained. "Centering perspectives from Turtle Island (a name for North America used...

A Bangkok court has issued an arrest warrant for Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip, the co-owner of the Miss Universe Organization, after Mr. Jakrajutatip failed to appear in court on Tuesday in relation to a fraud case. Mr. Jakkaphong is accused of defrauding an investor in 2023 and was released on bail, but he was a no-show for court on Tuesday and did not notify officials, The Associated Press reported, citing a statement from the Bangkok South District Court. The court deemed him a flight risk and rescheduled the hearing for Dec. 26. Jakkaphong’s company, JKN Global Group, bought Miss Universe in 2022...

If the guests at your Thanksgiving table this year are a bit moonier than usual, don’t assume they ate too much turkey. And if they seem extra enthused about digging into pie after a filling meal, well — Adding to late November’s ever-growing list of festivities and shopping promotions, cannabis brands are now marketing “Green Wednesday:” the day before Thanksgiving, when childhood friends reunite and presumably light up. And consumers are heeding the call: Green Wednesday is the second-largest holiday for cannabis behind April 20, said Joyce Sinali, co-founder of the Cannabis Media Council, a trade group that seeks to...

The Bible tells us very clearly that there is coming in the future a “Deception” so great that even believers will be fooled by it. That’s not really up for debate. The only thing up for debate is (1) what is it, and (2) has it already started? I’m going to give you my opinion on both of those questions in this article and then I want to hear what YOU think! First I have to put this in context. Third years ago, if I would have tried to have a serious debate and discussion about whether “aliens” are real,...

As a matter of unlovely habit, apologists for illegal immigrants are wont to dismissively declare that, by entering the United States without permission and remaining here without the requisite legal dispensation, they have committed only a “civil infraction.” Insofar as this is true, it represents such a limited rejoinder to the objection as to be meaningless. Rare is the illegal immigrant who breaks into America and then does nothing else besides. Illegal immigrants work without permission. They dodge the country’s archipelago of employment law. They use government services that are designed to exclude them. They dishonestly submit forms that compel...

HONG KONG, Nov 26 (Reuters) – A massive fire ripped through multiple high-rise residential blocks in Hong Kong’s northern Tai Po district on Wednesday, killing at least 14 people and injuring scores as authorities struggled to bring the blaze under control. Firefighters battled the orange flames into the night as thick black smoke billowed from the 32-story towers, which were sheathed in bamboo scaffolding – whose use the government began phasing out in March for safety reasons – and green construction mesh. The cause of the blaze was not immediately known.

KENOSHA, Wis. -- Twenty people were arrested in Kenosha and Illinois as part of a human trafficking investigation. Federal teams from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI staged portions of the operation at the Kenosha Public Safety Building. The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office and the Kenosha Police Department were not asked to assist with the investigative or enforcement phases of this operation. Local participation was not required due to the sensitive nature and scope of the federal investigation. The sheriff's office denied claims of large law-enforcement presences at local establishments. ICE was not involved in the original...

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California filed a federal civil lawsuit against Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte, alleging that Pulte violated privacy protections while seeking criminal referrals against political figures. Most modern dog breeds have small amounts of wolf ancestry from long after dogs were domesticated, according to a new study. The wolf DNA isn't left over from when dogs and wolves diverged; instead, it most likely came from interbreeding in the past few thousand years. That wolfish influence may be linked to certain characteristics, such as size and personality traits, in different dog breeds, researchers reported Nov. 24 in the journal PNAS. "Dogs are our buddies, but apparently wolves have been a big part of shaping them into the companions we know and love today," study co-author Logan Kistler,...

In a significant shift in the Middle Eastern power dynamics, Iranian officials have admitted that their once-loyal proxy force, the Houthis in Yemen, is increasingly defying Tehran's orders. Reports indicate that the Houthis, who have long served as Iran's strategic arm in the ongoing conflicts against the United States and its allies, are now acting independently, much to the dismay of their former benefactors. A senior Iranian official disclosed that the Houthis have distanced themselves from Iran. “They have gone rogue for a while and are now really rebels,” the official stated, reflecting concerns within the Iranian regime as they...

Are you a Somali-American living in Minnesota and also participating and possibly already charged and convicted of millions of dollars in Medicaid fraud? Well, just call Judge Sarah West and she'll let you off the hook. As far as the case itself goes, jury foreperson Ben Walfoort is quoted as saying "It was not a difficult decision whatsoever ... Based off of the state's evidence that was presented, it was beyond a reasonable doubt." Despite the jury swiftly convicting Yusuf, Judge Sarah West last week decided that they got it wrong, overturning the verdict and issuing a judgment of acquittal.

You may be better off traveling throughout the 'ocean state' via boat. (Credit: Mark F Lotterhand on Shutterstock) ============================================================================ In A Nutshell * Rhode Island has the worst roads in America, with 37.2% of major roads in poor condition and nearly 14% of bridges deteriorating * Washington state leads the nation in pothole complaints at 61.67 per capita, about 60% higher than Michigan’s rate * High spending doesn’t guarantee results: Pennsylvania spends $820 per capita on maintenance but still has 17.3% of roads in poor condition * Poor roads cost drivers hundreds of dollars annually through tire wear, suspension damage,...

Our lives are made up of decades, years, minutes, and seconds. The numbers vary by individual, but we are all given a limited amount of time on earth to live. The average American lifespan is about 78 years, roughly 2.5 billion seconds. In each person’s life, there comes a time when they truly comprehend good and evil, as the conscience bears witness to the law being written on our human hearts. In God’s grace and mercy, He knows when that time is for each person. As the awareness of sin marches on, the seconds of our lives tick away. Every...

Last week, my colleague Ryan Thorpe and I broke a story about widespread fraud committed by Somalis in Minnesota. Members of the state’s Somali community allegedly participated in complex schemes related to autism services, food programs, and housing, which prosecutors estimate have stolen billions of taxpayer dollars. Even worse, some of the cash has ended up in the hands of Al-Shabaab, a terrorist organization in Somalia. The story quickly reached the White House. Within days, President Trump announced that he was revoking the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for all Somali migrants in Minnesota. Progressives have suggested that our reporting and...

In the latest episode of Parsing Immigration Policy, Jessica Vaughan, Director of Policy Studies, sits down with Mahvash Siddiqui, a U.S. Foreign Service officer, to discuss systemic fraud in the H-1B visa program. Speaking in her private capacity, Ms. Siddiqui shares firsthand experiences from her time as a consular officer in Chennai (Madras), India – one of the world’s largest H-1B visa-processing posts – where U.S. officials adjudicated thousands of nonimmigrant visas, including 220,000 H-1Bs and 140,000 H-4 visas for their family members in 2024 alone. The episode highlights alarming patterns of fraud affecting the H-1B program, including forged degrees,...

A DOJ employee was arrested and booked on terrorism and evidence tampering charges for doxxing a federal agent during a raid in Brownsville, Texas. Karen Olvera De Leon, an employee with the US Attorney’s Office in Brownsville, appeared on a live stream of a federal raid on June 9. A male joined the livestream and issued a death threat against one of the federal agents conducting a raid. Another viewer of the livestream, later identified as Karen Olvera De Leon, doxxed the federal agent and provided his identity to the man issuing the d
