Nearly 2,500 Students PUNISHED in Deep-Red Lee County, Florida After Anti-ICE Walkouts — Suspensions Issued as District Reviews Additional Discipline

School officials in Lee County, Florida have taken sweeping disciplinary action against students who abandoned classrooms to participate in coordinated anti-ICE walkout protests earlier this month.

According to district officials, 2,480 students were identified for engaging in disruptive conduct during demonstrations that took place between February 4 and February 6, part of a broader protest movement that involved more than 3,600 students across 14 schools in the county.

And now, discipline is coming down.

School officials confirmed that dozens of Lee County Public School students have already been suspended for their involvement in the demonstrations, with the district warning that more punishments are likely as administrators continue reviewing surveillance footage and eyewitness reports from the protests, Gulf Coast News reported.

Administrators say the disciplinary measures were not handed down for political viewpoints, but rather for violations of the district’s Student Code of Conduct, including leaving class without permission, creating unsafe conditions, and refusing to comply with instructions from school staff.

District officials categorized the violations as follows, according to Gulf Coast News:

2,037 students skipped class or arrived late 393 students committed safety violations 50 students were cited for insubordination or disrespect

What is not to like about Lee County, Florida? It's got sunshine, palm trees, white sand beaches and schools that take education seriously.

WTF? Don’t teachers have any culpability here? I will bet plenty did...and one line in the article said the Teacher’s Union had something to do with it.

Teacher’s Unions are a pox on society.

As it should be, Except ours were orchestrated by the schools.

I said something about it then but I was shunned and banned by the locals.

I assume that if I did foia requests and sued the local kangaroo court would do whatever they were told.

From the article “It has been reported that the teachers’ union might have orchestrated the walkout.”

Then the union leadership should be charged, and the contract dissected by a competent attorney to see if the union can be decertified or the school can get out of the contract. IOW: see if they can end the union in that district.

Punish their teachers. They are the ones indoctrinating the youths. Unless they feel pain they will keep doing this crap.

“””””Nearly 2,500 Students PUNISHED in Deep-Red Lee County, Florida””””

As a Floridian I would not refer to Lee County as Deep Red.

Deep Red counties in Florida are the likes of Leon, Alachua, or Broward.
