On Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Source,” Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH) cited U.S. air operations in Serbia and Kosovo in the 1990s to argue that changing the regime in Iran would be difficult to pull off just through air operations without putting American soldiers on the ground and said that he doesn’t support putting troops on the ground and stated that doing so would require authorization by Congress.
Davidson said, “[Y]ou already see that vision for a democratic future for Iran. And Prime Minister Netanyahu somehow thinks that that can magically happen with some air power. We couldn’t even make regime change happen with air power in Serbia and Kosovo in the ’90s. It does take boots on the ground, historically, to do that, if it’s not done very aggressively by the people, that usually doesn’t work, because the people in power have all the weapons and all the power.”
Host Kaitlan Collins then asked, “Do you support U.S. boots on the ground in Iran?”
Davidson answered, “I don’t, personally, support regime change war that way. And even if there were to be such an action, it would require a vote by Congress, according to our Constitution.”

They destroyed the clerical committee who would decide the next mullah. The Iranian people have a clean slate to choose from.
The Iranian will hunt down the “guard” and put them out of business permanently.
That’ll be all the boots that are needed.
NOT so......the PERSIAN people can pick their OWN leaders!!
The Iranian people are screaming for our help. If we don’t help them finish the job they are doomed. There is no turning back. The whole middle East will benefit from this.
Nicolás Maduro thinks Regime Change CAN be done without boots on the ground.
After air superiority is claimed, air drop weapons and ammo to known friendly areas. Let the locals sort it out with minimal assistance from us.
The schadenfreude will be off the charts for many if regime change does happen without American boots on the ground.
I am one who believes it can happen without Americans going in on the ground as an occupying force.
I'll hang up and take my answer over the air.
There is no need of any large army deployment. After the great USAF and IDF get done, the Iranian danger will be history — whether the Iranian people get a sane peaceful government or not. Thereafter, with our various monitoring capacities and airspace command we can easily and efficiently make d—-ed sure they never ever again can threaten or attack anybody on earth.
Iran might turn into a bloody civil war, I don’t care, I do not want boots on the ground in Iran, unless it’s Iranian citizens fighting for their own country.
We can arm them, we can provide air cover for them, but we should not put Americans on the ground fighting for another country to “advance freedom”, haven’t we learned from Iraq and Afghanistan.
BTW no body is reporting the Pakistan Afgan war of the last 5 days.
Are Davidson’s boots going to be on the ground? STFU REMF.
he is probably going to arm opposition. but with police and irgc locations being dismantled, Iranians need to grab those weapons. and if thousands of Starlink sets can be smuggled in, why not weapons. Israelis did it in 1948.
What a dumbass
No need for us to change it.
They have been decimated, so leave it to them to pick up the pieces and put 2 and 2 together.
Just leave them with the unmistakable message that whoever takes power better not continue the old ways or hell will be rained on them as well.
I think sooner or later they’ll catch on.
And I couldn’t care less what system they come up with, as long as it’s not a pain on our butts.
And if they do that we could trade and have friendly relations, like we do now with the Saudis or Iraq for that matter.
Self-determination is a cardinal principle in modern international law, binding, as such, on the United Nations as an authoritative interpretation of the Charter’s norms.
It would not be a good thing for America to impose a new government on the Iranian people. They need to do that themselves.
