Kirk appeared to be the only big political figure in his family. According to NBC News, his mother was a mental health counselor. Meanwhile, his father was an architect whose firm designed the Trump Tower in New York City. Though Kirk built a reputation for himself as a right-wing conservative activist, he was raised by his parents in a politically moderate household, per The Guardian. In high school, Kirk became an avid listener of conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, per NBC News. He became more politically engaged as time went on, and launched a protest with a classmate in...

A Line Was Crossed: Why the Reaction to Charlie Kirk’s Death Surprised So ManyWhen Charlie Kirk was murdered on September 10, 2025, reactions across the internet followed a now-familiar pattern. Supporters expressed shock and sadness, while detractors — especially many on the progressive left — took to social media with mockery, celebration, and even open joy. For years, this kind of reaction toward controversial figures has played out online without serious consequence. In some circles, it was even encouraged. But this time, something changed. This time, the internet didn’t shrug. The public didn't just move on. People lost jobs. Employers issued statements....

Folks, I am so tired of writing about how bad crime has gotten in concert with how illegal immigration is so out of control. Even worse, it is swept under the rug by major corporate media conglomerates. But inside I feel that if I don’t, and note the existence of certain individuals’ names, they will be forgotten in the wastebin of history, and I can’t let that stand. Several horrendous crimes have occurred that should have received national attention; however, they did not. There is no reason we all should not be aware of Larisha Sharell Thompson, DaCara Thompson, and...

President Trump’s latest broadside landed with the familiar thunder of one of his off-the-cuff declarations. In a rather interesting interview with NBC News, he called for billionaire George Soros to be “put in jail.” To his critics, it sounded like yet another wild Trump line, a flourish designed to inflame. It carried the same cadence as the time he promised “fire and fury” for Kim Jong Un, or when he declared NATO allies were “delinquent” freeloaders, or when he warned that the European Union was a “foe” in trade. Each line was ridiculed, painted as reckless exaggeration. And yet, time...

FBI Director Kash Patel says investigators have found DNA evidence linking alleged Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson to the scene of last week's shooting. Patel made the statement during a Monday morning appearance on "Fox & Friends," saying the suspect's DNA was found on a screwdriver as well as a towel that was wrapped around the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. "I can report today that the DNA hits from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody," Patel said. Authorities say...

My folks are getting ready to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary and I have the honor of giving a speech to honor them and the occasion. I am the youngest of 4 and the only one of their children to be in attendance. I need ideas on how to pull this together. I'm not a public speaker. I prefer written communication but after several years in a technical career I write like a lab report or shop manual. I thought of outlining all of the history and societal changes they have been through (their first home cost $10500 for a...

“Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said of him, ‘Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!’ Nathanael said to Him, ‘How do You know me?’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.’ Nathanael answered Him, ‘Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel’” (John 1:47–49). Of all the apostles, Nathanael had one of the more interesting first encounters with Jesus. After Philip told him he had found the Messiah—“Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph”—Nathanael was skeptical. His...

He laid siege to the fortified cities, thinking to conquer them for himself. 2 When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he intended to wage war against Jerusalem, 3 he consulted with his officials and military staff about blocking off the water from the springs outside the city, and they helped him. 4 They gathered a large group of people who blocked all the...

growing number of conservatives are voicing alarm over an aggressive campaign to track down and expose liberals who posted vile comments about slain activist Charlie Kirk. Their insensitive and cruel comments have raised an internal debate about whether the retaliation effort is morally justified or dangerously hypocritical. Among the loudest critics is conservative commentator Raquel Debono, who took to Instagram to question whether the right's efforts to get political opponents fired from their jobs are 'Christian' or even consistent with conservative values.

A student at Texas Tech University has been arrested after she was caught on camera mocking Charlie Kirk's assassination and gleefully dancing in the wake of his death. Students at the school were holding a vigil for the late conservative commentator on Friday when 18-year-old Camryn Giselle Booker was filmed jumping up and down and chanting 'F*** y'all homie dead, he got shot in the head.'

The flags of 11 sovereign indigenous tribal nations were permanently raised recently at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul, during a ceremony at the new Tribal Flag Plaza. Gov. Tim Walz said of the ceremony, "Minnesota is moving in a direction that everyone is welcome.” I’m not sure about that, but, based on recent tragedies in Minneapolis, it appears murderous nut-jobs are welcome. I have respect and admiration for Native Americans and their history, but I am more than a little leery about continuing to emphasize our differences instead of the things that make us American. And the 11...

@JasonJournoDC "Charlie Kirk was a guy who was always talking — and I talked to him here. The right-wingers — say what you want about them — but they talk to you." "The left really has much more of a 'I don't talk to you, I don't want to deal with you, you're deplorable, I can't break bread with you' attitude. All the right-wingers — they don't have that attitude." "Charlie Kirk and I certainly don't agree on much politically — but he sat here, he's a human being, he's not a monster!" "I liked him! I like them all!...

The Parasite That Never Dies: The Enduring Allure of CommunismWhen the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, many in the West breathed a sigh of relief. The Cold War was over, the Iron Curtain had fallen, and communism, it seemed, had been defeated. The red flags were folded, the statues of Lenin came down, and the free world declared victory. But the reports of communism’s death were greatly exaggerated.Communism, after all, is not a nation or a regime. It’s not a border or a flag. Communism is an idea — and ideas, especially seductive ones, do not die with the fall of...

When Shahnaz went into labour, her husband Abdul called a taxi to take them to the only medical facility accessible to them. "She was in a lot pain," he says. A 20-minute drive away, the clinic was in Shesh Pol village in Afghanistan's north-eastern Badakhshan province. It was where their two older children were born. Abdul sat next to Shahnaz comforting her as they drove over gravel tracks to reach help. "But when we reached the clinic, we saw that it was closed. I didn't know it had shut down," he said, his face crumpling with agony. The clinic in...

Driving a taxi in the Russian capital was never very lucrative for Said, a Tajik migrant living in the Moscow region, but it paid the bills. Now, he says, the price of gasoline has jumped by more than 30 percent in recent weeks -- from 45 rubles a liter to 60. All told, his daily take-home pay is just three-quarters of what he used to net, he says; he can barely cover living expenses. "You work, and you pay your rent, and you pay for your gas -- those are all your expenses," he told RFE/RL, asking only to be...
