President Trump upended political norms and sparked widespread confusion with a series of executive orders challenging the Constitution and congressional control over the federal budget.Democrats responded in outrage, blasting the administration for sowing “chaos” and harming average Americans, and California and other states sued. Standing before a mourning nation following a tragic commercial airline crash that killed nearly 70 people in Washington, D.C., President Trump offered his somber condolences and said everyone was “searching for answers.”He then insinuated, without evidence, that diversity hiring practices at the Federal Aviation Administration — and the politics of his Democratic predecessors — were to...

Many of the 2.3 million people working for the federal government have until Feb. 6 to decide whether to take a “deferred resignation” offer announced by the Trump administration, which its FAQ page says includes full pay and benefits until the end of September.Since retiring from a career in professional poker, I’ve written books about how we can make better decisions, and I coach executives and others on the skill. I am not in the business of telling people what to decide, but in helping people with how to decide. That is what I did this week when two government...

After months of uncertainty, the White House has finally announced tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China. The uncertainty since the election and especially the lack of clear communication in the past several days have caused apprehension in the stock market, which is likely part of the reason why these measures were announced on a Saturday, when the markets are closed — always a sign of confidence that an economic policy decision is the right one. The stated purpose is to reduce the flow of illegal drugs and immigrants to the U.S. Trump has had success using blunt-force threats in the...

USAID funneled $53 million to EcoHealth Alliance, which then used U.S. taxpayer funds to support gain-of-function research on coronaviruses at the Wuhan lab—research that likely led to the creation of COVID-19. The CIA’s deception regarding COVID-19 origins becomes much clearer when considering USAID's long history of serving as a CIA front organization. With an annual budget exceeding $50 billion and activities in over 100 countries, USAID has repeatedly been linked to intelligence activities. Former USAID Director John Gilligan once admitted the agency was “infiltrated from top to bottom with CIA people,” explaining that “the idea was to plant operatives in...

Two F.B.I. agents are at the door. Their faces are grim. You invite them in, and because you work for the Pennsylvania secretary of state, you realize why they’re there. The agents explain that they “just have a few questions” about the 2020 election.Puzzled, you agree to talk. The agents pull binders out of their bags and begin grilling you. They want to know, with precision, where you were and what you did, beginning the moment the polls closed on Nov. 3, 2020.The conversation is difficult. They press you on the details, but your memory of those weeks isn’t as good...

DALLAS, TX — Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban woke up this morning incredibly hungover and hoping he didn't do anything dumb last night, like maybe trade away his franchise player for a pair of shoes. "Man, I hope I didn't do anything really stupid last night," said Cuban, downing ibuprofen. "Hm, wonder why I have so many missed calls from Luka? And what's the deal with all these calls from L.A.?" Though his memory was foggy from a heavy night of drinking, Cuban began to remember several concerning snapshots, such as coaches saying "That is the dumbest idea in history"...

New research presented at the 2025 Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Annual Meeting reveals that anatomic lung resections, such as lobectomy and segmentectomy, are associated with improved long-term survival compared to wedge resection for patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The study analyzed outcomes for more than 32,000 stage 1A NSCLC patients using data from the STS General Thoracic Surgery Database (STS GTSD) with long-term follow-up linked to the National Death Index and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services database, which provides up to 10 years of survival data. The Trump administration has revoked Temporary Protected Status, or T.P.S., for more than 300,000 Venezuelans in the United States, leaving the population vulnerable to potential deportation in the coming months, according to government documents obtained by The New York Times. The move, President Trump’s first to remove such protections in his second term, signals that he plans to continue a crackdown on the program that began in his first administration, when he sought to terminate the status for migrants from Sudan, El Salvador and Haiti, among others. He was stymied by federal courts that took issue with the way he undid...

Dems can't escape "Kamala is for they/them, President Trump is for you".The “Kamala is for they/them, President Trump is for you” ad was identified as the key winning campaign ad. Not so much because most Americans are opposed to transgender issues (though they are now) but because it highlighted an out-of-touch party obsessed with an issue of interest to 0.0001% of the country while most Americans wanted the party to address the economic pain they were feeling. The New York Times has a poll highlighting much the same thing. Many Americans say they do not believe the Democratic Party is focused on...
