California agency forces Rocklin Unified to rescind 2023 policy outing students to parents

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — The California agency that oversees negotiations between employers and employees struck down a controversial Rocklin Unified School District transgender notification policy.

In September 2023, the school district approved a policy that required school staff to notify parents if their child requests to be identified as a different gender, use different pronouns or if they request to use a bathroom that does not match their gender assigned at birth.

Members of the Rocklin Teachers Professional Association (RTPA) responded by saying the change in policy is not only unlawful but that the union did not get enough advance notice about the changes, taking away their opportunity to discuss it during the collective bargaining process with the district.

The California Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) in June 2024 filed a cease-and-desist order for the school district to rescind the policy

What a world. It’s unbelievable that the need for any such policy existed; decency and responsibility to the profession should have teachers advising parents of any delusions their child might be displaying at school. That there is active opposition to it is sickening.

People are starting to see that the state is saying they control your kids, unless one of them uses a gun, then its your fault and you’re going to jail.
