A figure who loomed large over French politics over the past five decades, Mr Le Pen was hailed Tuesday by his supporters as a fearless “patriot” and derided by his detractors as a fascist and an antisemite. The Brittany-born politician served as the president of the National Front from 1972 to 2011 and honorary president of the party from 2011 to 2015 when he was...

The Caveman Diet, also known as the Paleo Diet, is a weight-loss craze where calorie-counters pick foods they think early humans may have eaten. For most followers, this means a meat-heavy diet. But a new study suggests that if you truly want to eat like a caveman, you should be steering clear of red meat. Contrary to popular belief, researchers from Bar-Ilan University say that early humans were not solely focused on animal protein. Instead, cavemen were mostly vegetarians whose diets featured plant-based foods including acorns, cereals, legumes, and aquatic plants. 'This discovery underscores the importance of plant foods in...

Now that Pope Francis has named his wokester ally, Cardinal Robert McElroy, to be chief of the Washington, D.C. archdiocese, it's pretty obvious the appointment isn't about shepherding the 667,000 Catholics of that area. Chinese researchers say that recent advancements in the burgeoning field of inertial confinement fusion are bringing us one step closer to making accessible nuclear fusion a reality. The new findings, which incorporate innovative new modeling approaches, could open new avenues for the exploration of the mysteries surrounding high-energy-density physics, and could potentially offer a window toward understanding the physics of the early universe. Harnessing controlled nuclear fusion as a potential source of clean energy has seen several significant advancements in recent years, and the recent research by a Chinese team, funded by the Strategic Priority Research Program of Chinese Academy...

“Hands off our Democracy” has now become the rallying cry of the German ruling establishment and press. In a recent interview with the German magazine, Spiegel, Green chancellor candidate Robert Habeck was asked if he believed Musk to be a danger to Germany. He responded with the following. He [Musk] will do anything to push through his interests. The combination of immense wealth, control over information and networks, the use of artificial intelligence and the will to ignore rules is a frontal attack on our democracy. Just because he comes across as relaxed and builds electric cars, we should not be...

Canadian Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre began a campaign on Monday to hold a general election in the country as soon as possible in the face of radical leftist Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announcing his resignation. Poilievre is widely believed to be in the lead for the prime ministership as Trudeau’s Liberals, after a decade in power, have largely fallen from grace in the eyes of voters and Poilievre’s Conservatives are seeing major gains in the polls. Recent polls show that over half of Canadians want elections to remove Trudeau “as soon as possible,” and about 45 percent would vote...

As the Declaration of Independence (DOI) states, our individual rights are God-given and not derived from man or his gov’t. Among those rights are Life, Liberty, and Free Pursuits. In the context of America’s founding and heritage, “liberty” or “freedom” refers directly to freedom from gov’t coercion. Our rights, powers, and freedoms are between each of us and our God. So according to the DOI, America was founded on the principle that a very limited gov’t was a necessary evil to protect our God-given freedoms mainly from foreign threats and attacks. The people making up constitutional state sovereignty - decentralized...

January 20 will see the conclusion of the most extraordinary episode in the history of the American presidency. For the last four years, the supposed president, Joe Biden, has been the man who wasn’t there. Bloody and historic events — Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Hamas’ pogrom in Israel and the subsequent five-cornered Israel-Iran war — have shaken the world, yet Biden wasn’t there. Millions of non-Americans of every description, including terrorists, criminals, and members of the Cuban Communist Party, have swarmed over the Mexican border and flooded into our urban centers, costing billions of taxpayer dollars to support — and...

Daily Readings from the USCCBWhen Jesus saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things. Mark 6:34What is compassion? It’s an attribute by which someone sees the suffering of another and experiences true empathy for them. This empathy, in turn, leads the person to reach out and share in the person’s suffering, helping them to endure whatever they are going through. This is what Jesus experienced within His own Sacred Heart as He looked out upon this vast crowd. The Scripture...

Fathoms beneath present-day Lake Huron, early Americans once stood on dry land, hunting caribou as the animals migrated between southern Ontario and northeastern lower Michigan.A team led by University of Michigan researchers drew international attention when they announced those findings a decade ago, after discovering rock arrangements indicative of prehistoric hunting camps on a lake bottom ridge. But far less fanfare has followed the scientists in years since, as they've pieced together an increasingly clear picture of life 10,000 years ago in the now-submerged subarctic grassland...They've discovered fragments of tools that look nothing like other Great Lakes artifacts from a similar...

Since November, Democrats have been trying to understand how they could possibly have lost an election to the likes of Donald Trump. But it’s not just Trump and the United States. Several key elements of the progressive-liberal policy agenda are in retreat in developed economies as voters and elected officials turn to more reasonable, practical and financially sustainable policies. Here are three key components of the progressive agenda that are now being spurned. Open borders. Illegal immigration has roiled U.S. politics for years, but in the election it “surged to the top of the most important problem list,” according to...

As Winter Storm Blair wreaks havoc across the United States, blanketing highways with snow, disrupting power grids, and bringing life-threatening conditions to millions, the absence of leadership in promoting remote work is both perplexing and deeply frustrating. With the storm spanning over 1,500 miles from the Plains to the Mid-Atlantic, affecting more than 60 million people, this is a moment when proactive policies could save lives, reduce economic disruption and maintain a semblance of normalcy. The National Weather Service has issued stark warnings, with blizzard conditions, significant icing and dangerously low visibility reported in numerous states. In Ohio, where my...
