Developed economies across the globe are abandoning progressive policies

Since November, Democrats have been trying to understand how they could possibly have lost an election to the likes of Donald Trump. But it’s not just Trump and the United States. Several key elements of the progressive-liberal policy agenda are in retreat in developed economies as voters and elected officials turn to more reasonable, practical and financially sustainable policies.

Here are three key components of the progressive agenda that are now being spurned.

Open borders. Illegal immigration has roiled U.S. politics for years, but in the election it “surged to the top of the most important problem list,” according to Gallup, even as Democrats both defended the illegal immigrant surge and went to extremes to argue it wasn’t happening. But the U.S. wasn’t alone.

The green energy transition. Developed economies in Europe and the U.S. under Democratic administrations have made transitioning to clean energy more of a mandate than a goal. They have taken major steps, both politically and financially, to implement the net-zero economy — where greenhouse gases being emitted into the atmosphere equal the amount being removed. That’s changing.

Transgender youth. The trans issue in the November election wasn’t about adults who transition — they’re old enough to make their choices and live with them — but about children, along with biological males playing in women’s sports. Most Americans oppose both, and the issue played a role in some voters’ decisions.

This is the liberals achilles heel.

The liberals simply cannot comprehend how anyone could oppose all this LGBT business, illegal immigration, or all this global warming business.

Liberals think they are smarter than everyone else. And because of their self concept that they are so smart, they just can’t understand how could anyone oppose what they believe in.

And so with this election, it’s incomprehensible to them that Trump won the election.

Turns out putting everything on a giant credit card, and then trying to make interest payments on yesterday's policies isn't mathematically a smart move.

Weimar and Zimbabwe "progressed" as did the Valois kings centuries ago. Lessons learned by the innumerate? Not until the feces hit the spinning, numerical fan.

Americans are taught FDR was the hero of the Great Depression. For one historian, that’s erasure

Boggles the mind how that millions of people are so narrow minded, stupid and blind as to allow socio-economic policies that are doomed to fail. Americans closed down mental health facilities because such institutions deprived lunatics of their freedom of personal choice.

We didn't see the harm that would cause? Mind boggling.

Two years ago I observed the global political winds had changed.
Very glad to see I was correct.

‘ Liberals think they are smarter than everyone else. And because of their self concept that they are so smart, they just can’t understand how could anyone oppose what they believe in.’

You certainly got that right! How do they commonly describe themselves…’the smartest ppl/person in the room’. They are supremely arrogant and smug.

For decades Democrats have won elections by conjuring a cosmic truth and inflating and exploiting that truth to win elections.

For example, the truth that slavery, segregation and discrimination, elements of the same civic sin, have enabled Democrats to claim racism in election after election and harvest better than 90% of the African-American vote-until Trump.

Civil rights have been amplified to include very remote applications such as the right of citizens of the world to emigrate at will because national borders are now held to be repugnant to an inherent human and civil rights of movement.

More, civil rights concepts have been thoroughly distorted and amplified to include racial preference, homosexual preference, feminist preference, transgender rights etc.

Another concept which has been exploited and amplified is the assertion, so thoroughly propagandized that it is become conventional truth, that climate change will , if unregulated by Democrats, end civilization as we know it. Thus the oncept offers the left a target rich nvironment in which to legislate, regulate, and control. From the size of your showerhead to the size of your automobile engine, there is no human endeavor that cannot be regulated by Democrats. One human endeavor that climate enables Democrats to virtually regulate is elections.

But a political Colossus now the strides the stage who has swept away the underpinnings of these Democrat "truths."

I suspect there is one new overwhelming truth that is about to affect elections: economic realities driven by national sovereign debts. Donald Trump might find as he takes possession of the Oval Office that he has inherited an economy and a national debt that is about to dominate everything. Democrat exploitation of so-called "truths" will be swept away for a whole new world with a whole new truth to exploit. As a national leader he will not be alone as virtually every other head of state will find that his country is equally on a course of bankruptcy or sovereign debt default.

Here is a truth the Democrats will fully exploit. If a recession or depression comes on Trump's watch, it will be his fault. If the dollar loses its value because bondholders will not risk our credit, it will be equally Donald Trump's fault. Likewise, conservative governments who have inherited Democrat economic time bombs will be blamed.

What will be the political consequences?

If the economic crisis is severe enough the issue will not simply be the survival of conservatives on election day, will be the survival of a Republican, constitutional form of government, including our Bill of Rights. Like civil rights or climate change, economic hardship is an exploitable truth that has served Marxists effectively since the beginning of political time.

In NC Appalachia mtns, folks had no way of making money except tobacco. FDR put in a work program (can’t remember name) so that the local men could work and MAKE MONEY.

The locals here in NC love FDR because of that.

It was not until the ski areas opened up that things began to change. When i moved here in 1988, I was told by a “fureigner” that the state left the mtns alone until ski areas brought in money for the natives.

Of course they are. Nobody voluntarily submits to progressive policies. Leftist mandates are always forced on us as compulsory directives. It’s natural for normal people to reject the demands of bureaucratic busybodies.
