What if a centuries-old Amazonian brew held the key to better mental health and well-being? Ayahuasca, a psychoactive tea traditionally used in spiritual ceremonies, is once again making headlines after the most extensive study of its kind reveals promising associations between its use and improved mental health outcomes. “Ayahuasca has been used for centuries by Indigenous communities for healing and spiritual purposes, but despite its growing global popularity, its effects on mental health in contemporary settings are not well understood,” study co-author and adjunct associate professor at Swinburne University in Australia, Daniel Perkins, told PsyPost. “With more people around the...

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), 84, intends to be in Washington, DC, on Friday for the Speakership vote. Pelosi’s return is significant because Axios reported in December that Pelosi either lost or relinquished her “iron fist” grip on House Democrats after several Democrats Pelosi reportedly preferred as ranking members on committees did not succeed. Pelosi underwent hip surgery in Germany and missed the House committee assignment votes, but she is scheduled to be back at her post where she will have the opportunity to try to influence the Democrat caucus ahead of the Speakership vote in the House. “I’m on my...

As debates rage over the H-1B visa program—which allows employers to bring in foreign workers with certain skills—the nation finds itself divided on what "America First" truly means. Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy champion the expansion of this visa program, claiming it's essential to filling gaps in tech talent. Critics, however, see this as a betrayal of American workers—a corporate shortcut that prioritizes cheap, imported labor over investing in the country's own people. ..... The reality is painfully clear: America's education system is failing to produce the workforce it needs. This isn't a matter of intelligence—Indian and Chinese students aren't...

VIDEOThe idea of Soupy Sales interrogating Jimmy Carter sounds quite surrealistic. However, it actually happened in 1973 on "What's My Line" when when almost nobody knew who Jimmy Carter was outside of Georgia.

Residents of Victoria’s most populous region have to pay upwards of $400 just to work on their own vehicles, after a local government area imposed strict rules around private land use earlier this year. The City of Casey in Melbourne’s south-east, which includes suburbs like Cranbourne and Berwick, requires residents to apply for a private land use permit if they’re planning to store more than two unregistered vehicles for up to 90 days, store long heavy vehicles, and even dismantle, repair or service vehicles. Authorities no longer believe there are any other suspects involved in the New Year's truck attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans that killed 14 people and injured 35 others, the FBI said Thursday. After investigators reviewed all of the surveillance videos more closely, it appears that the suspect -- 42-year-old Army veteran Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who also died in the attack -- placed explosive devices in the area himself and then changed clothes, multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News. The FBI is still investigating whether there were individuals Jabbar spoke to or messaged with prior to the early Wednesday...

Daily Readings from the USCCB“I baptize with water; but there is one among you whom you do not recognize, the one who is coming after me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie.” John 1:26–27Now that our Christmas Octave is completed, we immediately begin to look toward the future ministry of our Lord. In our Gospel today, Saint John the Baptist is the one who points us to that future ministry of Jesus. He acknowledges his mission to baptize with water is one that is temporary and only a preparation for the One Who is coming after him....
