Fixing the H-1B Visa Begins at Home—Not With More Migrants | Opinion
Newsweek ^ | January 2, 2025 | John Mac Ghlionn

As debates rage over the H-1B visa program—which allows employers to bring in foreign workers with certain skills—the nation finds itself divided on what "America First" truly means. Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy champion the expansion of this visa program, claiming it's essential to filling gaps in tech talent. Critics, however, see this as a betrayal of American workers—a corporate shortcut that prioritizes cheap, imported labor over investing in the country's own people.

..... The reality is painfully clear: America's education system is failing to produce the workforce it needs. This isn't a matter of intelligence—Indian and Chinese students aren't born smarter than Americans. Their edge lies in rigorous preparation, while U.S. schools flounder in ideological battles and declining standards. Tech companies, desperate for skilled labor, have turned to H-1B visas as a crutch. The program, while valuable in theory, is often exploited in practice. Instead of reserving these visas for truly exceptional, specialized talent, many companies use them to import cheaper labor, sidelining qualified Americans in the process.

The H1B is a corporate giveaway and a scam that hurts American workers and America as a whole. It is a part of the campaign by the establishment to impoverish, subdue and marginalize American citizens through colonization-level immigration.

You get what you pay for. You import cheap labor and Americans choose not to participant in the depressed market, going into law, banking and globalist policy fields of practice instead.

Who is the idiot that wrote this, or rather, had ChatGPT write it for him?

Americans were getting offshored and replaced by Indians 25 years ago, and even current PhDs with stellar publication records, and 4.0 GPA graduates of top computer science programs, are not even getting interviews.

Our county schools report cards were mostly C and below. Lots of Ds and a few Fs. Fs were mostly for attendance and graduation rates. Can't solve that or much else of it with money. The failure is PARENTS.

The failure of PARENTS is the Great Society. Years ago, when my Mom was a teacher, she asked her third graders what they wanted to be when they grew up. One answered he wanted to be on welfare and ride horses for a living. Momma told him that was not working or even a lifestyle choice. The child's parent became indignant. That was close to 30 years ago.

Things are only going to get worse as our society eliminates living wage jobs and even aspires to eliminate white collar or professional jobs. We already don't have enough meaningful work for a lot of our society even if they wanted it. The vision of having things done for us just isn't all that great.

“In 2023, a total of 273,987 students took the AP Calculus AB exam, and 58% of test-takers scored a 3, 4, or a 5. Over the past four years (2020-2023), this percentage has averaged around 56.4%. That’s an encouraging success rate, considering how challenging AP Calc AB can be.”

https://collegeprep.uworld.com/ap-calculus-ab/scores-and-calculator/

About 22% got a 5. That’s ~55,000 American students entering college already knowing calculus fairly well.

“Indiana high school student Felix Zhang became the 1st person in the world to get a perfect score on the AP calculus AB exam.”

This is the KEY sentence in this article...

“The reality is painfully clear: America’s education system is failing to produce the workforce it needs.”

This comes as a result of a communist takeover of the American education system.

The solution starts with kicking out Marxist professors teaching college students who have become Marxist school teachers and putting in their place professors who understand and support capitalism and the principles of the founding of the USA.

This has been a system DESIGNED to destroy America and it HAS TO CHANGE ! !

Nothing those Marxist RATs and RINOs do surprises me. They even made a run around an already bad program like H1b.

Wonder which 1500 page bill they buried this outrage in?

This is how it happens though.

Perhaps a minimum required H-1B pay formula:

$50K any qualifying degree+
$10K for masters, without Ph.D.+
$20K for Ph.D.+
1.6 times HUD one-bedroom fair market rent+
$10K degree and certification normally commands a premium+
$10K employee works with technology+
$10K uncommon technical skill useful for national defense possessed+
$10K if prior management or management degree+
$15K if project management+
$5K employer’s workforce has more than two H-1Bs+
$8K employer’s full-time workforce exceeds 10 and is more than 10% H-1Bs+
$5K employer is a publicly traded entity, or controlled by one+
10% H-1B program usage premium+
state income tax adjustment

These would get adjusted for inflation as with tax brackets

"I see you’re still attacking President Trump."

That is a bald lie, I am attacking visa abuse. If you're still wrapped around the axle why don't you post some pro H1B articles? How about you comment on how positive it is for Americans to be passed over for employment in their own country?

It's not my fault Americans are tired of colonization-level immigration.

The failure is PARENTS.

Who themselves were raised in public schools.

This is a multigenerational problem starting in the late 19th Century as driven by the richest people in the world.

In regards to this H1B issue I was recently asked in the mail feature by someone on FR “What would Jesus do?” I replied “He wouldn’t quit, that is what he would do.”

Many years ago I tested and highly qualified for a position in the Southern Califiornia Edison Company in hydro-electrics. But they couldn’t hire me because they were behind on their minority hiring quota so I was put on hold for what they told me was probably going to be a year, at least. Of course I went other directions.

So if there is an opening in a position that can be filled by an American worker, why not put them first until the need for employment is covered until the outside candidates become the source? They did it with our minorities why not with our ciizens? Goose/gander

why don't you post some pro H1B articles?

Here's hundreds of pro H1B articles.

I've told you that attacking H1B is attacking Trump who supports these visas.

Get over yourself.
