Around 4.6 million records associated with Illinoisans in over a dozen counties – including voting records, registrations and death certificates – were temporarily available on the open internet, according to a security researcher who identified the vulnerability in July. The documents were available through an unsecured cloud storage platform. They included Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses and voter registration history. Election security experts said the breach is unlikely to affect the upcoming election but could make affected individuals susceptible to identity theft. ...

All-In" podcast hosts Sacks and Friedberg discuss "lawfare" against Elon Musk's companies over his political speech and warn that if there are no consequences to this kind of behavior by federal agencies and bureaucracies, it will escalate: DAVID SACKS: There's going to be lawfare all over the place... I'm definitely not at the top of the list. Elon is at the top of the list. So, he has no choice but to go all-in, they're already doing lawfare against him. But I think the point is just that if they're not defeated, they're going to keep doing it -- because...

The Kremlin has refused to publish details of "high-level conversations" between top officials, a spokesperson said after Donald Trump said he had threatened Russian President Vladimir Putin with a strike on his capital if Moscow invaded Ukraine. Trump, the Republican candidate for elections now just two weeks away, told The Wall Street Journal in an interview published on Friday that he had warned Putin—with whom he said he had a "great relationship"—not to go to war in Ukraine or he would "hit" Moscow. "I said, 'Vladimir, 'if you go after Ukraine, I am going to hit you so hard, you're...

Moldovans have voted by a razor-thin majority in favour of joining the European Union, nearly final results showed on Monday after a pivotal referendum clouded by allegations of Russian interference. On Sunday, Moldova held key votes in a presidential election and a referendum on EU membership, marking a critical moment in the continuing struggle between Russia and the west for control over the small, landlocked nation in eastern Europe, home to 2.5 million people. After nearly 99.5% of votes were counted in the referendum that asked voters to choose whether to enshrine in the country’s constitution a path toward the...

Donald Trump, the US presidential candidate from the Republican party, said that he threatened Russian President Vladimir Putin with striking Moscow in the event of an attack on Ukraine. Trump stated this in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. "I said. ‘Vladimir, if you pursue Ukraine, I will hit you so hard you won't even believe it. I'm going to hit you right in the center of freaking Moscow. I said, 'We’re friends. I don’t want to do it, but I have no choice,’" Trump said in the interview. According to Trump, Putin responded by saying, "No way." “I...

This image, taken by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, shows an ancient quasar (circled in red) with fewer than expected neighboring galaxies (bright blobs), challenging physicists’ understanding of how the first quasars and supermassive black holes formed. Credit: Christina Eilers/EIGER team ===================================================================================== Astronomers used the James Webb Space Telescope to detect ancient lonely quasars with murky origins. They appear to have few cosmic neighbors, raising questions about how they first emerged more than 13 billion years ago. A quasar is an incredibly bright region at the center of a galaxy, powered by a supermassive black hole. As this black hole...

A preliminary report by the House Task Force on the attempted assassination attempt of Donald Trump provides new detail about the lack of coordination between the Secret Service and state and local law enforcement officers that contributed to Trump nearly being killed and the murder of rally-goer Corey Comperatore. The report, released early Monday, also asserts that a local law enforcement officer said he fired at shooter Thomas Crooks before the Secret Service counter sniper fired the shot that killed him, and that this first shot may have caused Crooks to stop shooting. But House Task Force investigators concluded that...

High-ranking alumni of some of the most powerful congressional offices in the country have lobbied on behalf of companies controlled or greatly influenced by the Chinese military, disclosures show. Former congressional staffers with ties to powerful members of Congress, like Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Republican House Whip Steve Scalise, have worked to influence policy on behalf of Pentagon-designated “Chinese military companies” like DJI, BGI and Huawei. Chinese military companies are those the Department of Defense (DOD) has determined are “directly or indirectly owned, controlled or beneficially owned by” the Chinese military, as well as those that contribute...

Spiral galaxy IC 3225, captured in this dynamic image by the Hubble Space Telescope, is seen speeding through space within the dense Virgo galaxy cluster. Credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA, M. Sun =============================================================================== This week, the Hubble Space Telescope brings us the stunning image of IC 3225, a spiral galaxy soaring through the cosmos resembling a comet with a tail of gas. The spiral galaxy featured in this stunning Hubble Space Telescope image is IC 3225. It looks as though it’s been shot from a cannon, racing through space like a comet, with a stream of gas trailing from its disk....

Former President Donald Trump is now leading Vice President Kamala Harris for the first time in an election forecast, a poll released Sunday shows. The news was contained in a Decision Desk HQ/The Hill election forecast for this cycle. The model predicts Trump has a 52 percent chance of reclaiming the presidency while Harris has a 42 percent chance of entering the White House, as of Sunday. A report in the Hill sets out the change in prospects for the two protagonists:

Truthfully, that is NOT exactly what he said, but there is a point to my headline: Democrats think that social obligations should be fulfilled by the government. The social insurance state was not originally intended to substitute government for family and church assistance to people in need but as a backstop to ensure that people without others to assist them didn't fall through the cracks. All else failing, the government would ensure that nobody starved to death or was left to rot on the side of the road. Civilized societies do not view people as disposable; smart societies do not...

Hezbollah is entering a "new and advanced phase of confrontation" with Israel, the Lebanese news agency Nour News, affiliated with the terrorist group, announced Friday. The escalation became evident overnight, particularly after a drone strike targeting the home of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea on Saturday morning. Hezbollah, which reportedly has more than 1,000 drones left in its arsenal, including explosive-laden ones, has ramped up the use of these aircraft, launching coordinated strikes on multiple Israeli targets—mainly military and government sites. Over the past 24 hours, there has been a noticeable decrease in rocket and missile attacks, with fewer...

The trust and prestige that took prior generations of journalists decades to earn have been thrown away in just a few years by incompetents and partisans. CBS’s iconic 60 Minutes has had plenty of scandals and embarrassments in its long 57-year history, most notably the fake-but-accurate Dan Rather mess. Yet never has it found itself in greater disrepute than in 2024. Donald Trump, for good reason, recently declined to join 60 Minutes for its traditional election-year in-depth interviews of the two presidential candidates. Why? Last time he consented in 2020, anchor and interviewer Leslie Stahl attacked Trump’s accurate assertion that...

Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar, the most wanted outfit’s leader was killed on October 17 by the IDF. Sinwar, whom IDF calls the ‘face of evil’ was on the radar of the Israeli forces since the hostilities of October 07. But Yahya Sinwar, the butcher of Khan Yunus is not just known for the execution of the October 2023 attack. Days after ‘reuniting’ him with his former Chief Haniyeh, IDF released the terrorism history of Yahya Sinwar. Notably, IDF also released exclusive footage of Sinwar and his family moving to hideout moments before the hostilities of Oct 07. As per IDF...

I wouldn’t be much of a political pundit if I weren’t willing to share my prediction for what will happen in 15 days when one of the most important presidential elections in history is decided. So here goes: Donald Trump will win, and he will win convincingly. But that doesn’t mean the progressive left won’t have a meltdown. Just as in 2016, when Trump was first elected president, the media will be dismayed, the Democrats will be shocked, and there will be protests in the streets, possibly violent. Congressional Democrats such as Jamie Raskin will try to prevent Trump from...

Controversial social media personality Andrew Tate posted on X/Twitter on Saturday that he was praying to die a death like former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. “I can only pray for a death as heroic as Yahya Sinwar,” Tate wrote. “Brave, defiant in the face of evil and dedicated to his lifes [sic] purpose. He deserves eternal rest. He earnt [sic] it.” Sinwar, the mastermind behind Hamas’s October 7 attacks, which saw the massacring of over 1200 people, was eliminated by the IDF on Wednesday….

During the last week, Vice President Kamala Harris displayed antipathy toward devout Catholics on several occasions. Sadly, her bigoted attitude regarding Catholics is nothing new. In 2018, as a U.S. Senator representing California, Harris questioned Brian Buescher, a nominee for U.S. District Court in Nebraska. According to Harris, Buescher was not qualified to serve on the court because he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Harris blasted the group for holding “extremist positions,” such as opposing “a woman’s right to choose.”
