A series of slides shown at an anti-terrorism briefing held at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg), an Army base in Louisiana, have gone viral after one slide portrayed pro-life groups as terrorist organizations. A photo of the slide in the briefing was captured by someone in attendance, and listed National Right to Life (which has advocated for legal protections for preborn children since 1968) and Operation Rescue (which “exposes abortion abuses” by obtaining and publishing public records like 911 calls from abortion businesses) as examples of terrorist groups. I'm telling you that Barrett has decided she's a politician, not a Justice...' Tech companies are once again colluding with Democrats to push disinformation and censor legitimate conservative opinions, this time with the imprimatur of legitimacy conferred by the U.S. Supreme Court that allows them to do so more shamelessly and aggressively than ever. Today’s censorship is being made possible by the letters A, C and B—as in Justice Amy Coney Barrett. While the court’s two other centrists, Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Chief Justice John Roberts, are equally culpable (along with its leftist bloc) in allowing the atrocity that is...

This essay was first published in Etgar Keret’s Substack newsletter Alphabet Soup, which you can subscribe to here. Jessica Cohen translated it from Hebrew. One evening, exactly 38 years ago, a few weeks before my 18th birthday and four months before my conscription to the Israeli army, I sat on the beach with my two best friends, Uzi and Oren, trying to come up with a good song for our funerals. All three of us had medical issues that meant we wouldn’t be sent to combat or have to risk our lives. But still, we felt that the happier phase of...

The 81-year-old facing mounting calls to drop out of the presidential race said: 'Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin.' The major flub in front of world leaders sparked gasps and those in the room had to shout the correct name. 'No, we're going to beat Putin,' Biden said. The nonpartisan group Cook Political Report (CPR) shifted the Michigan Senate race to a “toss up” on Thursday as issues with President Biden continue to affect Democrats in races elsewhere. “If there was one race that was looking like a stronger opportunity for Republicans even before the CNN debate and looks even more in play now, it is Michigan,” CPR’s Senate and Governors editor Jessica Taylor said in an analysis. CPR said [the current House Democrat], ... likely the Democratic nominee following the Aug. 5 primary, has held a lead. Still, that lead is narrower than races in other states...

The New York City Department of Health has scrapped a requirement that fetuses aborted at or after 24 weeks be considered “human remains” and sent to funeral homes for burial or cremation. The 24-week mark is generally considered the point of potential viability to survive early birth and until the rule change, it was mandatory to send such late-term aborted fetuses to funeral homes for burial or cremation. Medical facilities will now instead be allowed to dispose of the “conceptus” — the term used by the health department — on premises, as is the case for earlier term aborted fetuses,...

Smoking is to blame for 20% of US cancer cases and nearly 30% of cancer deaths, the American Cancer Society (ACS) warns in new research. In fact, the organization insists that 4 in 10 cancer cases and nearly half of cancer deaths in American adults 30 and older may have been prevented with a lifestyle change like stopping smoking or losing weight. Dr. Farhad Islami, who penned the Thursday report, said he was “alarmed” that more than 169,800 Americans died in 2019 from smoking.
