Are Caitlin Clark's fellow WNBA players unfairly targeting the star rookie, or is the most-hyped young player in the league's history simply paying her dues? One of the most respected voices in women's college basketball and the sport as a whole, longtime UConn head coach Geno Auriemma, is squarely in the former camp. "Is she facing the rookie challenge, the rookie hardships that are inherent with being a rookie? Yes," Auriemma told reporters Tuesday, via ESPN. "She's also being targeted." The debate over how Clark's opponents are treating her cranked up after Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter body-checked Clark to...

Rampant inflation and President Joe Biden’s favoring of left-wing policies are contributing to a lack of progress on his landmark infrastructure law, analysts told the Daily Caller. Two and a half years after Congress ratified the $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in November of 2021, there has been very little concrete progress on new roads or bridges. The trillions of federal dollars the Biden administration has poured into the economy may actually be hindering the completion of the infrastructure that Biden promised to build, analysts told the Caller.

A year-long investigation found his remains and ensured his reinterment under a Star of DavidBy Andrew Lapin June 6, 2024 Growing up, Samantha Baskind’s father would sometimes mention his “Uncle Nate,” who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. He called Nate “a great Jewish American war hero,” often just around Memorial Day, Baskind recalled. “He would always use that exact same phrase.” There’s a family picture of Nate in his mid-twenties, just before shipping off to war, holding Baskind’s father as a toddler. Defense bosses found themselves in hot water with Navy Seals vets after marking the start of June with a Facebook post celebrating the beginning of Pride Month. The post on the official page of Naval Special Warfare Command was also posted to the US Navy Seals and SWCC page, according to Libs of TikTok. It spelled out the watchwords of 'dignity, service, respect, equality, pride', in rainbow-colored letters emblazoned with the command's badge of an eagle gripping a rifle and a trident. Attempts to restrict those who could comment failed to stem a wave of hostile reaction who accused the...

Three veterans slammed former President Trump as a “draft dodger” and argued he is unfit to be commander in chief in a new video from President Biden’s reelection campaign unveiled Thursday, marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Marine Corps veteran Curtis Register, Army veteran Ed McCabe and Navy veteran Matthew McLaughlin participated in the minutelong video, which was intended to “highlight the stark contrast between Donald Trump, who criticizes veterans and has refused to take accountability or attend military funerals, and President Biden, who stands with our troops abroad and takes care of them at home,” according to...

New Pew Research Center survey finds where Republicans, Democrats are most at odds close A Pew Research Center survey reveals that supporters of President Biden and former President Trump are sharply divided over topics described as "culture war" or "woke" issues, including gender identity, the toughness of the American criminal justice system and illegal immigration. The polling, which was conducted between April 8-14 and involved 8,709 U.S. adults, comes as both candidates are gearing up for what is anticipated to be a hotly contested election this November. The Pew findings show that 90% of Trump supporters believe gender is determined...

If surfing sea otters weren't enough at Streamer Lane, now you have bodysurfing deer at Seacliff State Beach. Valencia Elementary School students on a field trip got to see just that on Tuesday. A parent, Mrs. Martinez, then took the video of the deer swimming near the shore. KSBW 8 was told the deer "ran down the mountain, onto the beach, dove into the surf, swam out a ways, then swam parallel with the beach," said Lynnelle Wing, a third-grade teacher for Valencia Elementary School. It then caught a wave, wiped out, came back up and tried catching another wave...

The New York City Audubon organization has officially changed its name to NYC Bird Alliance to distance itself from the history of John James Audubon, the 19th century naturalist who was also a slave owner and vocal opponent of abolition. “After a multi-year process to assess the Audubon name and then to choose a new one, on June 5, 2024 the organization’s members voted to approve the new name, NYC Bird Alliance,” a page on the group’s website states, adding separately that “the use of ‘Audubon’ in our name affects our ability to retain and attract staff, board members, supporters,...

Brazil imposes tariffs on Chinese imports Brazil is now fighting back against cheap Chinese imports by imposing a 20% tax. This affects goods valued under $50 (€46) which are bought via international shopping websites. According to Brazilian media, Chinese online retail platform AliExpress was "surprised" by the decision, as the tax would primarily hit the poorest and discourage foreign investment in the country. In the textile industry, considerable anger has been directed at Chinese suppliers, because conglomerates such as Shein, which don't produce their goods under the same conditions and general framework as small Brazilian firms, are pushing thousands of...

A YOUNG woman has spoken how embracing the alternative has empowered her. Today, Kitty Von Crypt is a celebrated alternative model, burlesque artist, and circus performer. She even breathes fire! She puts it down to embracing the alternative aesthetic, enabling the then awkward Colwyn Bay teenager to transform into the striking performer she is now. Kitty, of Colwyn Bay, said: I didn't have a lot of self confidence growing up and modelling in the alternative style gave me something to be proud of and made me feel comfortable in my own skin. "When I started doing the more raunchy stuff...

Lunden Roberts — the mother of the 5-year-old granddaughter President Joe Biden has yet to meet — revealed that she considered suicide when pregnant with Hunter Biden’s baby while he was in the throes of serious drug addiction. The 33-year-old spoke exclusively with Piers Morgan for a new episode of his show “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” premiering on YouTube Thursday at 3 p.m. ET. President Biden’s son, now 54, initially refused to acknowledge the existence of Navy Joan, who was born in 2018 following his months-long affair with Roberts. While, Roberts said, Hunter and the child have been “building a relationship”...

In recent years, the entertainment industry, particularly Hollywood, has discussed at length the role of the intimacy coordinator. However, the title of the role itself isn’t quite as clear-cut as that of a director, an actor, or a camera operator, so the question remains: just what does an intimacy coordinator do on a film or TV show’s production? Firstly, the intimacy coordinator will work closely with film directors, writers, and producers during pre-production to understand which scenes might require supervision. By understanding a scene’s requirements, particularly sexual content or physical intimacy, the IC can prepare to help actors set personal...

As high prices at grocery stores, gas pumps and pharmacies have soured many voters on his first term, President Biden has developed a populist riposte: Blame big corporations for inflation, not me.But despite facing a tough re-election battle where economic issues will be central, Mr. Biden has not leaned into that message as frequently or naturally as some other Democrats, including senators running in competitive seats across the southwest and the industrial Midwest. The Biden campaign has not focused its television or online advertisements on messages berating companies for high prices, unlike Senators Bob Casey of Pennsylvania and Sherrod Brown...

Explanation: Magnificent spiral galaxy NGC 4565 is viewed edge-on from planet Earth. Also known as the Needle Galaxy for its narrow profile, bright NGC 4565 is a stop on many telescopic tours of the northern sky, in the faint but well-groomed constellation Coma Berenices. This sharp, colorful image reveals the galaxy's boxy, bulging central core cut by obscuring dust lanes that lace NGC 4565's thin galactic plane. NGC 4565 itself lies about 40 million light-years distant and spans some 100,000 light-years. Easily spotted with small telescopes, sky enthusiasts consider NGC 4565 to be a prominent celestial masterpiece Messier missed.
