ROME — Pope Francis received a group of some 30 “Palestinian and Ukrainian children” in the Vatican this weekend, the Vatican reported. The children came “predominantly from war zones,” mostly Palestine and Ukraine, and highlighted a new initiative of Pope Francis to engage children in the quest for peace, Vatican News said. Some of the children visiting the pope were missing limbs but were “happy for once to be in a place where they can marvel at a beautiful building rather than live in fear of bombs,” the Vatican related.

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu (R) minced no words in his evaluation of his counterpart in California on Thursday. At an event held by the Ronald Reagan Institute on Thursday, Sununu concluded that Governor Gavin Newsom (D) is “just a prick” and asserted that none of his peers can stand him. “And I think look almost all the governors get along. I mean, in my eight years, I can honestly tell you there’s really only been two — maybe a third — but two real governors that really nobody liked, nobody cared for at all,” continued Sununu before being asked...

The witchcraft trouble [in Bermuda in 1651-55] began in May 1651, when Goodwife Jeane Gardiner, the wife of Ralph Gardiner of Hamilton Tribe, was accused of bewitching a mulatto woman named Tomasin. Jeane Gardiner was heard to say “that she would crampe Tomasin” and reportedly “used many other threatenninge words tending to the hurt and injurie of the said mullatto woman.” Gardiner’s victim was then “very much tormented, and struck blind and dumb for the space of twoe houres or thereabouts.” Jeane Gardiner may have been known in her neighborhood as the wife of Ralph Gardiner, a laborer who had...

This Memorial Day Weekend, it seems like every news outlet from YouTube to the New York Times is talking about President Trump’s rally in the Bronx. No Republican has won there in over 100 years. It’s deep deep blue territory. Still, he’s not looking to be President of the red hat people. He was President of the United States before, and despite being undermined by his opponents to the maximum levels, he still worked to Make America Great Again for all Americans. By every statistic, he did more than President Biden. Oh, there’s no shortage of people who will debate...

Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that on abortion access, Minnesota is an “island of decency” surrounded by states enacting versions of “The Handmaid’s Tale.” Anchor Dana Bash said, “On the issue of abortion, Mrs. Clinton said Democrats neglected abortion rights from the ballot box to Congress, to the Supreme Court. Our side was complacent and kind of taking it for granted and thinking it would never go away. Do you agree with that?” Walz said, “I don’t think she’s totally wrong. Look, I ran in a conservative district, second Democrat since 1892 when...

Russia is managing to produce artillery shells at triple the speed of Ukraine’s allies for a quarter of the price, Sky News reported on May 26, referencing analysis from management consulting firm Bain & Company. Using publicly available data, the firm claims that Russian factories can produce or refurbish 4.5 million 152 mm shells this year for $1,000 per round. European countries and the U.S. are only expected to produce 1.3 million 155 mm shells combined, at an average cost of $4,000 per unit. Slow artillery production has hindered Ukraine’s progress on the battlefield. Soldiers claim that for every round...

It seems to be taken for granted in many portions of Scripture that over the course of seeking to live faithful lives God's people will meet opposition, sometimes fierce opposition. The letter of 1 Peter presupposes such things—and if we accept the traditional dating and authorship of the epistle than the man who wrote the book was himself killed for his faith not long after writing. Likewise, the book of Daniel simply takes the reality of opposition for granted, showing us examples in the text of how faithful followers of God are threatened with fire, lions, and other forms of...

As RedState reported, former President Donald Trump went to the Libertarian National Convention to extend a hand and reach out for their vote. There were some folks in the crowd who were not happy with him being there. He got a mixed reaction, including boos from folks who, it seemed, were angry that he was invited at all. But he also received some cheers during the speech and there were supporters in the audience. If you think about it, it was pretty brave to go into the house of another party and ask for their vote.

The Manhattan court docket says it’s the “People of the State of New York v. Donald J. Trump.” Legally, yes, but in a larger truth, no. As the case nears the finish line, it increasingly feels as if New York itself is on trial. Only a top-quality case, beyond reproach and political taint, should have been used to bring the first-ever indictment of a former president. Instead, the city and state put on a show trial long on theatrics–porn star testifies about sex! — and short on evidence that any crime was actually committed. And so the script has flipped,...

A recall effort aimed at “progressive” Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao has gathered enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot, organizers say — though they are still collecting signatures to ensure that they survive a challenge. The San Francisco Chronicle reported Saturday: The campaign, Oakland United to Recall Sheng Thao, known as OUST, has until July 22 to submit its signatures. Election officials then must make sure enough signatures are valid to trigger a recall, a process that could take up to two months. OUST has obtained nearly 35,000 signatures since it began its effort in February, Brenda Harbin-Forte, a...

Distressing footage captured at least 10 adults and children fighting during a Tennessee kindergarten graduation ceremony earlier this month, according to a report. The chaos unfolded at Buckley Carpenter Elementary in Somerville, Tenn., on May 15, 2024, when tensions between two women in the crowd boiled over into violence, police told Fox 13 Memphis. The adults, identified as Tyeisha Humphreys and Kierra Smith, were seen brawling down the gymnasium bleachers as witnesses tried to escape the madness. Beyond the bleacher brawl, at least two other people on the basketball court exchanged several punches. According to the outlet, Tyeisha Humphreys told...

In life, sometimes things just drop into your lap. This is one of those times. Today I am very happy to announce the full release of Major General Ethan Allen's work A Narrative of Colonel Ethan Allen's CaptivityWhat is cool about this is that it is a solo work, meaning it is IMHO higher quality and easier to follow. Moreover, most of my personal efforts to try to recruit others have admittedly been a failure. But this one, it was just some random person who I don't have any association with saw it and recorded it. From my view, its...
