CAMDEN, N.J. -- Residents in the Philadelphia area are about to see a rare site — a battleship floating down the Delaware River. The USS New Jersey is scheduled to move from its dock in Camden on Thursday, when it will head to the Philadelphia Navy Yard for extensive maintenance work. The vessel, guided by tugboats, will initially head to the Paulsboro Marine Terminal, where it will be balanced to prepare for dry docking, and will then go to the Navy Yard six days later. The maintenance work is expected to take about two months to complete, officials said. Three...

Cocoa prices are at a 47-year high.Your sweet tooth cravings are about to get more expensive. In 2024, the price of cocoa hit an all-time high, reaching a staggering $5,874 on the New York commodities market, according to BBC. This, however, wasn't some one-off event, but rather, the culmination of a more than two-year uphill swing in prices that's already rocking the confectionary industry and is trickling down to consumers like you. “Historic cocoa prices are expected to limit earnings growth this year,” Michele Buck, the president and CEO of the Hershey Company, shared during a Feb. 8 earnings call....

France, the oui-oui nation with a notorious reputation for poo-poo-ing American culture has a dirty, delicious little secret — one that sometimes catches tourists by surprise. The land of boeuf bourguignon harbors a burning love for two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce cheese, pickles and onions on a sesame seed bun, along with the rest of the McDonald’s menu — France is now home to more outlets of the Golden Arches than anywhere in Europe. SNIP Why on earth are the French, who eat better than almost anybody else in the Western world, so obsessed with American drive-thru cuisine? Does...

An angry Black Lives Matter mob chased and menaced conservatives attending a Turning Point USA event at the University of Memphis featuring Kyle Rittenhouse on Wednesday evening. The crowd was caught on video hitting and spitting on cars of attendees as they left. Reporter Julio Rosas posted videos from the event on X and wrote that “police had to prevent the hostile crowd from physically attacking” the attendees. “Protestors at the event with Kyle Rittenhouse at the University of Memphis seen hitting and spitting on cars as they leave. They also attempted to block cars from leaving,” Turning Point USA...

Angel the red-tailed hawk is leucistic, which is similar to being albino.Almost 2.5 million rad-tailed hawks call North America home, but one of those birds in Tennessee is changing how scientists think, thanks to her survival story. Angel, the red-tailed hawk, is leucistic, similar to being albino. While an albino animal loses all of its pigmentation, a leucistic animal only loses part; both conditions, scientists say, can lower survival rates. “Back in the early 2000s, scientists and conservation biologists would say that leucistic and albino animals cannot exist in the wild.” Window to Wildlife’s Connor O’Brien said. “It would be...

Imam Abdou Zindani: "One Jewish man in New York was talking to a Palestinian businessman. First, the [Palestinian] said: 'Don't worry, Jewish man. One day will come, and we will slaughter you like a sheep and the stone and the tree will work undercover with us. They will tell us: Hey Muslim, come. Somebody is hiding here, get up and kill him.' "Oh Allah, make us soldiers for You. Every way you want us to be – with the tank, with the eye, with the money, with the hand, make us soldiers for Islam. Make us die the way you...

Let me tell you about the time Ruth Bader Ginsburg saved Donald Trump $355 million plus interest. It was Feb. 20, 2019, and Justice Ginsburg delivered the opinion of the court in the case of Timbs v. Indiana. In that case, police in Indiana had seized Tyson Timbs’ Land Rover SUV, which he bought for $42,000 with money he received from a life insurance policy when his dad died. The state sought civil forfeiture of the vehicle because Timbs had pleaded guilty to drug dealing and conspiracy to commit theft. However, the fine for the crime was only $10,000 and...

Ukraine is running so low on ammunition that it will run out of air defence missiles to defend its cities by the end of the month, according to reports. Supplies of missiles defending cities such as Odesa – where 20 people were killed on Friday – are dwindling fast, according to Ukrainian sources quoted by The Washington Post. That means that instead of trying to shoot down four out of five Russian missiles as it does now, Ukraine will soon have to ration its air defence systems to shooting down just one in five. This will have a “significant effect...

A number of prominent Jewish donors are included on a letter from more than 100 Democratic funders calling on President Joe Biden to pull back his “unconditional” support for Israel’s war effort, and warning that it may harm his reelection prospects. “Because of the disillusionment of a critical portion of the Democratic coalition, the Gaza war is increasing the chances of a Trump victory,” said the letter, which was sent Monday and first reported by The New York Times. The letter comes amid growing pressure on Biden over Gaza from a swell of progressive voters, who have voted “uncommitted” in...

Four years ago, government officials told us, "Stay home!" We have "15 days to slow the spread." Days turned into months and then years, while officials chipped away at our freedoms. I have long been wary of politicians, but even I was surprised at how authoritarian many were eager to be. Some demanded police to go after people surfing. They took down the rims of basketball hoops. Children's playgrounds were taped up like crime scenes. They told people in rural Utah and Wyoming to stay in their homes. In the name of safety, politicians did many things that diminished our...

MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. Eliminating French military personnel that may appear in Ukraine would be a critical but not particularly difficult mission for the Russian Armed Forces, but for Paris such a humiliating defeat of its legions would be tantamount to being guillotined, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said. "Actually, for the success of our cause, it would be nice if the restless French dispatched a couple of regiments to ‘Banderaland.’ It would be very problematic to hide such a number of servicemen, so systematically eliminating them would not be the most difficult task, but surely the most...

Fenoprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), successfully alleviated pain and inflammation in a rodent model of endometriosis, according to researchers. They chose the drug after using a computer algorithm to evaluate nearly 1,300 existing compounds for their ability to reverse gene expression related to endometriosis disease. Analysis by researchers using publicly available data from people with endometriosis, returned 299 candidate compounds with seven considered top candidates. These drugs included commonly used treatments for the disease, such as aspirin, as well as those not yet studied for this purpose. The researchers chose fenoprofen for further evaluation because it returned the highest...

In the first clinical trial of a targeted pharmacologic therapeutic for mild traumatic brain injury in pediatric patients, scientists have found preliminary evidence that adolescents and young adults with concussion who take a specific formulation of branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) supplements after injury experience faster symptom reduction and return to physical activity. Animal model studies of mild to moderate traumatic brain injury, which has been led by Akiva S. Cohen, Ph.D., have shown that supplementation with a specific formulation of three BCAAs—leucine, isoleucine, and valine—improve neurocognitive function. The scientists conducted a pilot, double-blind, randomized controlled trial of participants between the...

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (LifeSiteNews) – The office of Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis sharply rebuked media outlet Axios and a Holocaust historian for using the latter’s purported academic credentials to malign a state law against LGBT indoctrination in public schools. In 2022, Florida enacted its Parental Rights in Education law over intense left-wing activist and corporate pressure. The law bans schools from teaching children in kindergarten through third grade about transgenderism and other sexuality-related issues, limits discussions of sexuality for older children to “age appropriate” content and requires parents to be informed of any changes that could affect their child’s physical,...
