Only days after one passenger shot and killed another aboard a West Side bus filled with other riders, Chicago Transit Authority union leader Keith Hill says he’s now open to seeing the Illinois National Guard provide security for the long-troubled system. “Since 2017, my call has been for extra security, a presence on the transit system,” Hill told The Center Square. “From a worker standpoint, the workers need to feel safe. When a person rides the system, they should feel safe getting from point A to point B.” Late Tuesday night, a 53-year-old man began waving a knife around while...

The number of National Instant Background Check System (NICS) checks and estimated gun sales show little change from 2023. In February 2024, the number of gun sales was 99.7% of what they were in February of 2023. Total estimated gun sales in February of 2024 are 1.29 million. In February 2023, they were 1.29 million. There was a sales difference of about 4,000 between the two months. This makes February 2024 the fifth-highest February for gun sales recorded in the NICS system and the sixth-highest February for total background checks done. The numbers for the various types of gun sales recorded...

The American edition, published in 1956, 468 pages, Translated by A.P. Maudsley The Diaz account is the best history book that I have read. It has all the advantage of a first person account and reads like a well written adventure novel. The Discovery and Conquest of Mexico by Bernal Diaz del Castillo is the only extant first person account of the campaign under the command of Hernando Cortez from 1519 to 1520. The campaign resulted in the discovery and conquest of the Aztec civilization in Mexico. Cortez himself wrote five long letters to Carlos V in Spain. Parts...

For those interested in why some countries become wealthy while others remain in extreme poverty, Haiti is one of the most important case studies. Despite being only a few hundred miles from the U.S. mainland, and even closer to Puerto Rico, with investment capital readily available and unlimited opportunities for trade, Haiti has essentially no economic development and is one of the poorest countries in the world. And instead of improving, conditions in Haiti only get worse. The past few weeks have seen yet a new extreme low point, with the Prime Minister locked out of the territory and the...

As the violence in Haiti rages on with the country in ots final stages of complete collapse, the real reason behind the destruction of the 3rd world nation was exposed by a Haitian whistleblower, who said the Clintons and their globalist cohorts had targeted them for years due to their $20 million dollar gold reserves. In an unearthed video posted on X, Haitian American Joseph Mathieu revealed the real the reason the globalist elites are targeting Haiti.

A House Oversight and Accountability subcommittee hearing Tuesday examined threats to the security and reliability of the U.S. electricity grid, which can lead to more blackouts. While reliability assessments regularly find that increased reliance on wind and solar, increased demand from electrification, an underbuilt electrical delivery network, and rapid retirements of on-demand generators are creating an increased risk of blackouts, Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., ranking member of the subcommittee, instead blamed other sources of the problem, namely, white supremacy. She also threw in "climate change" for good measure.

When anti-Israel activists swarmed the plant that prints The New York Times, The Post and other newspapers the other day, aiming to stop the papers’ distribution, cops passed on making arrests because this was supposedly “peaceful protest.” No: It was a forceful attack on a private enterprise (on private property, too), and on the freedom of the press. But city government refuses to protect the peace, and has even signed away its ability to restrain out-of-control “protest” mobs. Heck, City Hall agreed to pay $13 million to “protesters” — nearly $10K per rioter — arrested during the looting, arson, and...

Last year when I attempted to pick my daughter up from school, the volunteers in the carpool line tried to put a fourth grader in my car, not the four-year-old I was attempting to retrieve. Both of us were vehemently shaking our heads, both of us looked totally confused, but the man with the radio would not be deterred. There are only a handful of white kids at my daughter's school and only two of them are car riders. One of them gets picked up by her mom, and the other, by her dad. This white girl went with the...

Climate bully Michael Mann, with mixed results, has been suing those who criticize his “hockey stick” graph of climate history. This 1998 graph purported to show that global temperature was stable until about 1900 when human-induced warming struck. In February, Mann scored a $1 million libel judgement against Canadian columnist Mark Steyn in a court in the District of Columbia. Steyn has responded with an appeal. Punitive damages are typically calculated as a ratio to actual damages. With only $1 in actual damages, the ratio in this case is a staggering million to one. This amount is so excessive that...

Vaughan Gething has been elected as the head of Welsh Labour and will become the first black leader of a European country when he is confirmed as first minister next week. Gething, who has worked as the health and the economy minister in the Labour-led government, succeeds Mark Drakeford after beating the education minister, Jeremy Miles. He promised to improve the Welsh NHS, put green jobs at the forefront of the country’s economic future, build more homes and reliable transport systems, drive up education standards and guide Wales to a more prominent position on the world stage.

SALT LAKE CITY — Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville renewed his endorsement of Riverton Mayor Trent Staggs on Friday at an event with Utah Republican delegates ahead of the state GOP convention in April. Tuberville stood at the dais of Layton's Faith Baptist Church and encouraged the assembly of more than 150 state and county delegates to throw their support behind Stagg's bid to replace Sen. Mitt Romney. The former Auburn University football coach said he needed Staggs — "a Trump guy" — to join him, Sen. Mike Lee and a group of 15 to 18 other senators who will "follow...

An 11-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Chicago while trying to protect his 33-weeks pregnant mother from her 'abusive ex-boyfriend'. Suspect Crosetti Brand, 37, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing on Wednesday that took the life of Jayden Perkins and left his mother, Laterria Smith, in critical condition. Brand was Smith's ex-boyfriend and on parole after being sentenced to 16 years in prison for a home invasion. Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling said that Brand had been released on parole just one day before the attack. Cook County State's Attorney...

Vice News published a story last fall asserting that Libs of TikTok, the popular social media account run by Chaya Raichik, was responsible for a rise in school bomb threats. The reporter, Tess Owen, wrote that “bomb threats targeting schools or school districts following Libs of TikTok posts appears to be a particularly ominous escalation.” She then cited a “disturbing pattern” from 11 school districts. Newly obtained emails, released Thursday by Raichik, suggest that Owen wasn’t completely truthful in her reporting. In a post on X, Libs of TikTok claimed Vice News and Owen “knowingly withheld critical information about me...

BEJING -- China will start building this year its own version of StarLink, a satellite internet constellation using low Earth orbit, with plans of launching some 26,000 satellites to cover the entire world led by state-run companies. Now that the military use of satellite-based communications systems for warfare in such places as Ukraine and Gaza is increasing, China will set up its own satellite network to compete with the U.S. as a "space power."

On Friday, Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee ruled that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis will be allowed to continue to persecute former President Trump and his co-defendants for trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. The only condition Ms. Willis has to meet is to persuade her sex-partner Nate Wade to withdraw from the case. Judge McAfee explained that "the testimony I've heard over the past two weeks confirms that both Ms. Willis and Mr. Wade lied under oath in their attempt to conceal both the illicit affair and the fiscal impropriety of the payments...

In another dramatic change of allegiances, Lee Anderson, the Labour councillor turned Tory MP, will now bat for Reform in the Red (Blue) Wall. The controversial MP has had a tumultuous few months, first resigning as deputy Tory chairman over the Rwanda Bill and then being sacked from the party altogether over an Islamophobia row. One of the most prominent of the Right-wing “Red (Blue) Wallers” elected in 2019, his defection to the insurgent party founded by Nigel Farage poses a serious problem for Rishi Sunak. Downing Street advisers had seen him as a “secret weapon” in their bid to...
