It's something that's been debated by Bible scholars since the Earth was created some 6,023 years ago: what will the Mark of the Beast mentioned in the book of Revelation turn out to be? Well, it will no longer be debated, because we found a Calvary Chapel pastor and asked him, and he said it will definitely be one of these 17 things -- unless something happens in the Middle East that changes his mind next week: 1. Starbucks holiday cup - If you've gotten a peppermint mocha latte this November, it may already be too late for you. 2....

Passing the bar exam is no longer the only way to become a lawyer in Oregon. Students at the state’s three law school can now bypass the grueling two-day test by logging hundreds of hours at a law firm and then submitting samples of their work for review under a new system approved last week by the Oregon Supreme Court. The Supervised Practice Portfolio Examination makes Oregon the first state in the nation to allow students to become lawyers through a post-graduation apprenticeship, though backers believe it won’t be the last.

In 2022, the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) placed a large bet on an experimental drug developed to limit brain damage after strokes. The agency committed up to $30 million to administer a compound called 3K3A-APC in a study of 1400 people shortly after they experience an acute ischemic stroke, a perilous condition in which a clot blocks blood flow to part of the brain. The gamble seemed warranted. Lab studies, most by a longtime grantee, prominent University of Southern California (USC) neuroscientist Berislav Zlokovic, had generated promising data. A small safety study of the drug, sponsored by a...

They must have felt like gods, the Hamas terrorists who invaded southern Israel on October 7. Indeed, they enjoyed almost godlike powers, first blinding Israel's remote-control border cameras and then bulldozing through the security fence as though it were hardly there. All so they could lord their powers over Israeli civilians — raping, torturing, murdering... and not always in that order. The "lucky" Israelis survived long enough to be dragged back to Gaza to be used as human shields and worse. Hamas even had the ambitions of gods. A report earlier this week claimed that captured maps and reconnaissance indicated...

A just released House Judiciary Committee report reveals that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) collaborated with Stanford University's Election Integrity Partnership (EIP) and big tech companies to censor true information, jokes, and political opinions posted by Republicans and conservatives. These posts were labeled as "misinformation" while false information posted by Democrats and liberals was untouched by the censors. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said "the DHS admitted they could not legally interfere with free speech and enlisted Stanford's EIP to do the dirty work. This dirty work included mentioning that tech companies that did not cooperate with...

Washington, D.C., November 14, 2023 Quick update this Tuesday morning from Washington. As many of you know, Congress is once again up against a deadline to pass legislation funding the federal government’s discretionary spending. If you read no further, read this: I know I sound like a broken record, but it is NOT MY JOB to keep the federal government open and running at all costs, no matter what, regardless of how much debt we must take on. I vehemently disagree with that. We’re approaching $34 trillion in national debt, yet most of the media is oblivious to this crisis,...

Financial realities, however, suggest the valuation is the stuff of science fiction. Demand is quickly rising for software using artificial intelligence that can make sense out of voluminous and disparate data to flag suspicious financial transactions or defend against military attacks. Yet Palantir’s top line is only expected to grow 16% this year, according to forecasts gathered...
