(WHTM) — It was the most costly natural disaster in American history, and it hit Pennsylvania the hardest. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Hurricane Agnes. The story of Agnes begins on June 11, 1972, when ripples in the atmosphere appear in the western Caribbean sea. It ends on July 6, when the last vestiges of the storm are absorbed by another weather system out in the Atlantic, south of Iceland. When Agnes eventually sputtered out, it left behind an estimated death toll of 128, of whom 50 were from Pennsylvania. The storm also caused around 3.1 billion dollars...

The Biden administration is trying really hard to convince us that the U.S. economy is doing just fine, but the numbers just keep getting worse and worse. Consumer confidence is plummeting, large corporations are conducting mass layoffs all over the country, and major retailers are really struggling right now. Meanwhile, some of the smartest guys in the financial world are making moves that would only make sense if the economy was headed for big trouble. Earlier this month, I wrote about how Michael Burry has bet 1.6 billion dollars that the stock market is going to crash. He made a...

There is clear evidence that COVID-19 is on the rise in New York City, the U.S., and other places around the world, but the late-summer surge in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths is so far more like an uptick than a wave, and those numbers remain low. There’s also a new highly mutated variant called BA.2.86 on the scene and a newly updated COVID booster shot on the horizon. Below is what to know — and why not to panic — about the state of COVID as we head into the first fall and winter since the official end of the...

On Aug. 25, 2023, a video appeared of Muslim girls covered from head to toe in all black burqas, dancing to a song that praised Islam and cursed "infidels" — that is, all non-Muslims. The video — which would make ISIS proud and chill Western audiences — was taken on a woman's college campus in India, Talimuddin Niswan Women's Degree College in Mau. Swati Goel Sharma, the journalist who shared the video, wrote:A glimpse into the brainwashing and radicalisation that goes on in religious minority institutes [meaning Muslim schools in India]. Women covered from head to toe in burqa are...

How would like your daughter to be forced to be naked with this thing? That's pretty much what a gutless coward Wyoming judge determined. A judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by University of Wyoming sorority sisters contesting the admission of a transgender woman whom they accused of being a sexual predator.Six members of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority chapter had challenged Artemis Langford's admission by casting doubt on whether sorority rules allowed a transgender woman. The biological girls were creeped out by this thingSeveral members of the sorority also claimed Langford's presence in their home left them feeling 'vulnerable'...

The pope yells about them. Joe Biden's FBI spies on them. But in a rather astonishing development, efforts to suppress the traditional Latin Mass among the Catholics is booming, which kind of tells us what's really going on. Even the mainstream media is noticing. According to a page one story in the Miami Herald:Traditional Latin Mass, also called the extraordinary form of the Roman rite, or the Tridentine Mass, has been celebrated in the Archdiocese of Miami for the past 40 years, beginning under former Archbishop Edward McCarthy. In recent years, Miami’s community has steadily grown, relocating to five different...

A woman robbed a straphanger at knifepoint inside a lower Manhattan subway subway station during Wednesday morning rush-hour, police said. The victim was on the 2/3 train platform at the Fulton Street station around 9:30 a.m. when the mugger flashed a knife at her and grabbed the contents of her purse, according to the NYPD. The suspect then ran off and was in the wind Wednesday afternoon, cops said. No additional information was immediately available. The robbery came the day after a 34-year-old woman was shoved onto subway tracks by a stranger while waiting on the 1/2/3 train platform at...

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then...

If there’s one place you think you’d be safe from sharks, it’s Idaho. Well, think again. After all, a salmon shark was discovered on the shores of the Salmon River near Riggins, located about two hours north of Boise. Yes, a shark was found nestled deep in a canyon in the west-central part of a state known for potatoes and beautiful mountain ranges. What gives? Who knows? Especially interesting is the fact that Clearwater Region fisheries manager Joe Dupont released a statement saying only Bull Sharks can survive in freshwater rivers. Clearly, this salmon shark made a wrong turn. A...

Four months after the city of Madison declared the Meadowlands Apartments a public nuisance, local leaders and property managers of the Meadowlands Apartments held a public informational meeting to highlight changes that aim to make the complex on the far east side safer. "It's a fairly new apartment complex," Madison Police East District Captain Jamar Gary said. "It's been almost a year since it opened, and we've observed some issues at the apartment complex." The complex first opened in September 2022. Since then, Madison police officers have received more than 500 calls for service to the apartments. There have been...

China and the U.S. are collecting the same proportion of their populations’ DNA profiles — and the FBI wants to double its budget to get even more. The FBI aims to nearly double its current $56.7 million budget for dealing with its DNA catalog with an additional $53.1 million, according to its budget request for fiscal year 2024. “The requested resources will allow the FBI to process the rapidly increasing number of DNA...

NASCAR offers a paid “diversity internship” that excludes white people from applying on the basis of their race, a stipulation a constitutional lawyer tells The Daily Wire is “blatantly illegal.” The race car giant’s “diversity internship program” states that there are racial requirements that applicants must meet in order to be accepted. The first bullet point listed under the heading “Program Requirements” reads “Be a member of one or more of the following races/ethnic minority classifications: Black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Latino or Hispanic, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander.” David Bernstein, a professor at...

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In the wake of Hurricane Idalia making landfall in Florida, President Joe Biden offered suffering victims in the Sunshine State comfort by telling them about the time he was in the bathroom and the urinal splashed back on him a little bit. "I've been in the same situation, folks," Biden said as he made remarks to the media regarding ongoing disaster relief efforts in Hawaii and Florida. "These hurricanes and storms flooding everything remind me of my own challenges. There was this one time, at a state dinner with the Pope, and I had to go see...

DES MOINES, Iowa — An Iowa man who made death threats against Arizona officials over the 2020 election has been sentenced to more than two years in prison. Mark Rissi, of Hiawatha, left threatening voicemails for Clint Hickman, an election official with the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, and then-Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, according to court documents. Those documents quote Rissi ending a September 2021 voicemail for Hickman by saying, "You’re gonna die, you piece of [expletive]. We’re going to hang you. We’re going to hang you.” In a December 2021 message left for Brnovich, court documents quote Rissi...

The image below is a screenshot from the website of the Council of Ministers (www.governo.it/it/articolo/comunicato-stampa-del-consiglio-dei-ministri-n-42/23077). Meloni’s cabinet website. The Meloni government is going to allow 452,000 new legal immigrants into Italy over the next three years. And they would like 833,000, but legislation does not (yet) exist to authorize that. The website is sure to mention that Meloni herself signed the decree and wishes to “promote legal immigration” to Italy. The web page also mentions that a further 40,000 seasonal workers will be admitted each year. These ‘seasonal’ workers never leave and quickly become members of Italy’s 700,000 illegal immigrants...
