MARION COUNTY, Fla. - A Florida man is now behind bars after he was allegedly spotted by deputies driving in circles in a church parking lot and subsequently fleeing and eluding arrest, claiming that a cult "told him to," according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office. John Souza was arrested Monday on charges of fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, according to an affidavit. On Monday, deputies witnessed a man, later identified as Souza, driving in circles in a wooded section of St. Joseph of the Forest Mission church in Silver Springs, according to an affidavit. A deputy tried...

Children as young as seven will get transgender treatment on the NHS, according to plans seen by The Telegraph. In details of the new service to replace the controversial Tavistock clinic, NHS England has set out how it will limit the use of puberty blockers and ban activists and teachers from referring children for treatment. For the first time, it has set a minimum age of seven for referral to the gender identity clinics. These children will be offered psychological support and therapy that will focus on issues that may have led to their feelings about their gender. However, experts...

Physical fitness is a cornerstone of military readiness. Historically, this quality has helped American servicemembers fight and win over numerically superior enemies. Nevertheless, Congress has rarely taken much interest in a service’s military physical fitness testing — until now. On Thursday night, the Senate approved its version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Section 557 of that bill would scrap the current Army Combat Fitness Test and replace it with the old Army Physical Fitness Test. Meanwhile, the House version of the NDAA proposes requiring a gender-neutral fitness test for combat arms positions. In both cases, the issue is...

QUESTION: Marty, Your experience in law is well known. What is your opinion of Trump’s new indictment? Paul ANSWER: Never in the entire history of the United States have we EVER witnessed such political corruption using the Department of Justice. They had tapes of Richard Nixon that would have convicted him but they did not prosecute him for fear that it was not in the best judgment for the nation. Nixon had won by the highest vote, and the fact that the people caught in the break-in were actually CIA people. Nixon had a meeting with the head of the...

There’s a good chance that you experience an unpleasant degree of performance pressure from time to time in your environs, whatever they might be. Lord knows even the executioner is not immune to it. But it’s doubtful very many are under the sort of professional pressure that Swedish general Charles Emil Lewenhaupt succumbed to on this date in 1743, when he was beheaded for command incompetence thanks to his country’s defeat in the 1741-1743 Russo-Swedish War. An aggressive political faction of “Young Turks” — er, Young Swedes — known as the Hats had kicked the country’s cautious former president to...

MARION COUNTY, Fla. - A Florida man was arrested for allegedly stealing a lawn mower from a woman's yard, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office. Gary Bebee was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree petit theft, his seventh theft offense in 15 years, deputies said. Deputies responded to a home in the 7700 block of NE 132nd Place after a woman called reporting the theft of her lawn mower from her yard, according to an affidavit. The woman said while she wasn't home at the time of the theft, she saw the whole thing unfold on her home's surveillance...

Donald J. Trump should select 37-year-old anti-woke entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy as his vice presidential pick to give him the best chance of winning the 2024 general election, Brexit leader Nigel Farage argued. While conventional wisdom would argue for Donald Trump to select a veteran politician as VP, such as South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, or perhaps a rising female star on the right like Tudor Dixon or Kari Lake, Nigel Farage has argued that the former president should pick an outsider like himself and choose Vivek Ramaswamy. “To win the presidency, Trump must pick the right VP candidate. I believe...

A library in Alabama has reversed its decision from earlier this week to cancel a book reading event. It will now indeed welcome actor Kirk Cameron and his publisher, Brave Books, on Saturday, August 5, for the nationwide "See You at the Library" event. The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library System in Huntsville, Alabama, had said in a release on Wednesday afternoon that it would no longer accommodate the book reading event due to concerns about logistics and security as popularity for the event grew this week. Almost immediately afterward, Cameron and Brave Books challenged that decision to cancel it.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) issued a formal apology to populist Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy after it named him as one of its “Young Global Leaders” (YGL) in 2021 without his consent. In April, Ramaswamy filed a lawsuit against Klaus Schwab’s organization and accused it of “creating a false perception of affiliation by listing” him as a “Young Global Leader.” On Tuesday, he took to the social media platform “X,” formerly Twitter, and posted a formal letter of apology he received from the WEF. “The Forum acknowledges that this continued inclusion on a YGL document may have incorrectly implied...

You just shot me,” Hight screams. “I shot who?” the deputy asked. Williams appeared to aim at a Pomeranian, but instead hit Hight who is standing right next to another deputy. You shot my aunt,” said another woman. “I didn't shoot her,” Williams responds. Yes, you did," Hight responds. "You shot me." Later in the video, Williams claims one of Hight’s dogs scratched her - instead of her being shot.

Bidenomics, baby! That’s the term the Biden administration is “quite proud” of, but that nobody is able to define. Or, perhaps they are able to explain it, but avoid providing particulars about what it means because doing so would pop any illusion that the president’s economic and “cost-saving” policies are working. For example, remember that gas stove crackdown that the Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm has long touted as being necessary to save energy and money for the American people? Well, the Department of Energy recently revised its expectations for exactly how much the average American would save under...

[Catholic Caucus] WYD: Bishop Attacks Priest Who Refused to Hand Out CommunionA priest of the neo-conservative FLUHM community placed Holy Communion on the tongue of young people who presumably wanted to grasp it with their hands at World Youth Day. One of them was Hendrik Roos, 27, a theology student and staff member at the "Bund der deutschen [anti-]katholischen Jugend" (Federation of German [anti-]Catholic Youth) in Münster. As a result, the petty-minded Roos grassed on the priest to the Münster diocesan newspaper Kirche-und-Leben.de. Münster Auxiliary Christoph Hegge then pompously called the correct administration of communion a "no-go." During the Covid...

Top US and European officials are concerned that Russian President Vladimir Putin is factoring the 2024 US presidential election into his Ukraine war planning in hopes that a loss by President Joe Biden next year will lead the US to curtail its support for Ukraine and improve Russia’s negotiating position, four US officials told CNN.The US does not yet have explicit intelligence about Putin’s mindset, or whether he is purposefully dragging out the war in hopes of a Donald Trump or Republican presidential victory. But next year’s election remains a key factor that top Western national security, intelligence and diplomatic...

Just as wildfire season gets underway, homeowners insurance is becoming more and more scarce. Some companies aren't writing any new policies, while others are dropping longtime customers. Among them is an East Bay man who was told he lost his insurance -- based on photos taken by a drone over his property. It came as a shock. At first, he was told he'd lost his insurance because "drone photos" taken over his property showed hazards in his yard. But the company would not show him the pictures. Later he was told there was no drone, just aerial photos. He felt...

In my sub-40 years of existence, I’ve witnessed multiple market bubbles and collapses that in hindsight were predictable, but the warning signs of inevitable failure were obviously ignored. People disregard the few naysayers because their desire to be a part of an in-vogue fad outweighs any common sense.
