An Indigenous tribe descended from the Native American nation that originally controlled the land in Vermont the Ben & Jerry's headquarters is located on would be interested in taking it back, its chief has said, after the company publicly called for "stolen" lands to be returned.Don Stevens, chief of the Nulhegan Band of The Coosuk Abenaki Nation—one of four descended from the Abenaki that are recognized in Vermont—told Newsweek it was "always interested in reclaiming the stewardship of our lands," but that the company had yet to approach them.It comes after the ice cream company was questioned as to when...

Courtesy of Angel Studios I haven’t even seen Sound of Freedom yet, but I’m already convinced I need to based on the absolute hysteria emanating from the left.As I reported yesterday, The Guardian set off the parade of stupidity by tying the movie, which is based on a true story, to QAnon. Does the movie mention QAnon, Hillary Clinton, Pizzagate, or anything of the sort? Not even a little bit. Rather, it’s just a story about saving a girl from human traffickers in South America.Admittedly, I severely underestimated how triggering that would be for some people, and now a reviewer...

It’s no secret that pro-freedom policies unleash human potential and lead to the creation of wealth and prosperity. The migration of people inevitably follows freedom. The world saw that last century: East Germans risked getting machine-gunned to escape communism to the West. Cubans built make-shift rafts to sail through shark-infested waters to freedom. Even in a generally free country like the United States, the same pattern holds true with domestic migration to freer states. Bloomberg recently reported on the sheer magnitude of domestic migration of people and capital:A $100 Billion Wealth Migration Tilts US Economy’s Center of Gravity SouthSome 2.2...

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has called on China to work with Washington to fight the "existential threat" of climate change. Speaking on Saturday, she said the two countries - the largest greenhouse gas emitters - had a joint responsibility to lead the way on climate action. She called on China to support the US-led Green Climate Fund. Ms Yellen is on a four-day trip to Beijing in an attempt to boost relations between the two countries. Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, who was among those to meet with Ms Yellen, said he regretted "unexpected incidents", such as the row...

The CDC's explanation for leaving certain diagnosis codes off Minnesota death certificates that cite COVID-19 vaccines as a cause of death, allegedly hiding vaccine injuries in federal records, shows "intent to deceive," according to a person who helped analyze the death certificates for the Brownstone Institute, a think tank that challenges the scientific basis for COVID conventional wisdom and policy.John Beaudoin Sr., who is suing Massachusetts for submitting "fraudulent" death certificates to the feds falsely labeling COVID as a cause of death, says CDC spokesperson Kristen Nordlund's comments on the matter to Just the News will be incorporated in an...
  • New research finds deep-sleep brain waves predict blood sugar control

Researchers have known that a lack of quality sleep can increase a person's risk of diabetes. What has remained a mystery, however, is why. Now, a team of sleep scientists have uncovered a potential mechanism in humans that explains how and why deep-sleep brain waves at night are able to regulate the body's sensitivity to insulin, which in turn improves blood sugar control the next day. "These synchronized brain waves act like a finger that flicks the first domino to start an associated chain reaction from the brain, down to the heart, and then out to alter the body's regulation...

On this date in 1771, Henry Stroud and Robert Campbell were hanged at Bethnal Green Road — a pointed message to the Spitalfield working class. Their hanging was tit for tat in an exchange of deadly violence between the state and laboring Londoners. Two years before, an anti-union law making it a capital crime to cut silk out of looms had actually been put to use with the hanging of two as part of the suppression of a Spitalfields weavers riot. This execution provoked in the following months a horrifying mob vengeance against the independent weaver who had testified —...

  • Nearly half of tap water Americans drink is tainted with PFAS 'forever chemicals'

"Forever chemicals" are widespread in the environment, and new research finds they can be detected in about 45% of U.S. tap water samples. The chemicals are per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances, or PFAS, and their spread through drinking water—both tap and well—may be even higher because researchers from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) were unable to test for all of them, CNN reported. These synthetic substances have been linked to a variety of health issues, including cancer, liver damage, hormone suppression, decreased fertility, obesity, high cholesterol and thyroid disease. To gauge the impact on drinking water, a team used water...

High consumption of soybean oil has been linked to obesity and diabetes and potentially autism, Alzheimer's disease, anxiety, and depression. Add now to this growing list ulcerative colitis, a form of inflammatory bowel disease, or IBD, characterized by chronic inflammation of the large intestine. Researchers examined the gut of mice that were consistently fed a diet high in soybean oil for up to 24 weeks in the lab. They found beneficial bacteria decreased and harmful bacteria (specifically, adherent invasive Escherichia coli) increased—conditions that can lead to colitis. Soybean oil is the most commonly used edible oil in the United States....

A shocking 60million Americans still have not had Covid, according to results from an official antibody survey. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated that 77.5 percent of over-16s had antibodies from at least one prior infection by the end of 2022. That suggests around 58million Americans, or nearly one in four, still hadn't caught the virus by the end of last year — more than three years after the virus first arrived in America. Of all age groups, seniors who were at the highest risk of disease, were least likely to have been infected, with 56.5 percent...

I recently picked up a copy of Pierre Toussaint: A Citizen of Old New York by Arthur and Elizabeth Odell Sheehan at a homeschool conference on Long Island. Truth be told, I knew next to nothing about Toussaint before I began reading, though I can honestly say I had wanted to know more about him. I especially wanted to know what heroic virtues this man possessed that has him on the path to canonization as a saint of the Catholic Church. Well, to start with, Venerable Pierre Toussaint's life story is anything but typical. It is a study in contrasts...
