COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Dozen of activists, including Indigenous Sami, protested Friday outside the office of Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, vowing to block entry to remind Norway's government that they want a wind farm removed because they say it endangers the reindeer herders’ way of life. In February, the same human rights activists occupied the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy for four days, and later also blocked the entrances to 10 ministries. The Norwegian government then apologized for failing to act despite a Supreme Court ruling in favor of the Sami, and Gahr Støre also acknowledged “ongoing human...

A 25-year-old woman and her husband received criticism for refusing to abort their son because he does not have arms. She said she loves her son just as he is — “perfect.” According to The Mirror, Mariaan Strauss and her husband Hendrick, from South Africa, explained that they learned during an ultrasound at 13 weeks that their son did not have arms. The doctor advised the parents to abort him. And while the thought of raising a child with different abilities seemed daunting to the couple, they did not want to end his life. Called “selfish” for that decision, the...

People often ask me why I seem to highlight datapoints and background events that do not trend to the media-driven narrative priority of the moment. The answer is simple; everything is connected to the next thing that happens. If you do not outline the originating point, the accurate reference is missed when needed. This approach is why I have focused significant research on Elon Musk’s financial situation with Twitter {GO DEEP}.The issue of Twitter’s financial status speaks to the motives of Musk that later surface – like his relationship with Fox News billionaire Rupert Murdoch. Once you see the connections, suddenly...

ACI Prensa Staff, May 31, 2023 / 14:25 pm Father Alberto Reyes of the Archdiocese of Camagüey in Cuba said the 64 years that have elapsed since Fidel Castro seized power in 1959 “is more than enough time to realize that the project called the ‘Cuban Revolution’ didn’t work, because it didn’t bring progress, nor did it achieve its ideal of the ‘new man.’” In a May 26 post on Facebook, Reyes pointed out that during these decades what has happened in Cuba is a precariousness of life and an increase in “the desire to escape.” In addition, he pointed...

My Hearing had degraded over time. I used TVEars for a while. In 2018 I purchased an inexpensive Hearing Aid for $59.(Britzgo) I started with one end later got a second. I found that in noisy environments I had difficulty hearing - the only thing the hearing aid did was make all sounds louder. As time went on I found one hearing aid in either ear - depending on surrounding work best but not in noisy area or when multiple people were talking. As technology improved I get a smaller pair for $300. (Britzgo). Result smaller buttons - harder to...

The monotheistic nature of Islam is incompatible with the concept of polytheism in Shinto religion Japan's religious landscape is undergoing a transformative shift, which is all the more evident by looking at the growing number of mosques that have emerged in the country over the past two decades. The change can be attributed to a lesser degree to increasing intermarriage between Muslims and Japanese citizens (many Japanese converted to Islam through marriage), but mostly to the rising number of immigrants coming from Islamic states. The number of Muslims in Japan was estimated to be between 10,000 to 20,000 in the...

Casey DeSantis made a bold political fashion statement while on the presidential campaign trail with her husband, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Saturday. The 42-year-old DeSantis wore the blunt outfit that pays homage to one of her husband’s key campaign promises — to end “woke” ideology. Twitter owner Elon Musk invited Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for a discussion on his Twitter Spaces after Kennedy said his campaign was suspended by Meta-owned Instagram. “Interesting… when we use our TeamKennedy email address to set up @instagram accounts we get an automatic 180-day ban. Can anyone guess why that’s happening?” he wrote on Twitter. In response to his post, Musk wrote: “Would you like to do a Spaces discussion with...

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Now that June "Pride Month" has been institutionalized nationally and indelibly etched into our American culture, it is critical for Americans to understand the Sodom and Gamorrah story of Genesis 19. Another similar Bible story is just as critical to understand; Judges 19–21, the story of the Tribe of Benjamin descending into Sodomy. The of Tribe of Benjamin, unlike Sodom and Gamorrah, was not a gentile demon worshipping nation devoid of Biblical Truth. They had come out of Egypt with Israel by God's hand. They had faithful leaders like...

A potentially deadly germ has made its way to the U.S. Gulf Coast, health officials warned this week. So far, three cases of infection from the bacteria Burkholderia pseudomallei have been reported to the U.S. CDC. The bacteria causes melioidosis, which can be fatal if left untreated. "It is an environmental organism that lives naturally in the soil, and typically freshwater in certain areas around the world. Mostly in subtropical and tropical climates," said Julia Petras. Melioidosis is now considered endemic to the U.S. Gulf Coast and infections may be seen from Texas to Florida, Petras said. But because most...

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN)—nerve pain, tingling, or numbness in the hands or feet—is a common side effect of certain cancer treatments, including two drugs frequently used to treat cancer—the taxanes paclitaxel and docetaxel. Initial results from a large study that tracked CIPN in more than 1,100 patients treated for breast cancer with a taxane show a pattern of clinically meaningful, persistent sensory and motor symptoms, with patients experiencing more severe symptoms with paclitaxel than with docetaxel. Michael J. Fisch, MD, said "These results are highly relevant because taxanes such as paclitaxel and docetaxel are integral to our treatment of breast...

Severe head traumas in humans can lead to various stages of so-called disorders of consciousness (DoC). These are states in which consciousness is either partly or entirely absent, such as a coma; unresponsive wakefulness syndrome, also known as a vegetative state; and minimally conscious state. Researchers recently carried out a study investigating the responses of patients in a coma or vegetative state to smells, to understand whether they could be used to evaluate consciousness. As part of their study, the researchers evaluated the responses of 28 patients at different stages of DoC to olfactory stimuli. Out of these patients, 13...
