A 25-year-old woman and her husband received criticism for refusing to abort their son because he does not have arms. She said she loves her son just as he is — “perfect.”
According to The Mirror, Mariaan Strauss and her husband Hendrick, from South Africa, explained that they learned during an ultrasound at 13 weeks that their son did not have arms. The doctor advised the parents to abort him. And while the thought of raising a child with different abilities seemed daunting to the couple, they did not want to end his life.
Called “selfish” for that decision, the couple now says that 11-month-old Hendré is the “greatest gift we could have received.” He weighted just over six pounds at birth and Mariaan said that she and her husband cried “because it was such a beautiful moment.”
Still, she said, “the big, dark depression hit me.”
“Society is cruel and I thought, ‘Will our child ever be accepted? Is he going to be mocked and bullied?”
She added, “The words of my specialist kept running through my head, ‘You’re selfish if you don’t abort. You must think of the child. He will never be able to have a normal quality of life.'”

When infanticide is described an act of selflessness. What in the hell is wrong with us?
“What in the hell is wrong with us?”
Please don’t lump “us” in with that group of degenerates. They are the f’ing problem. People who kill babies deserve the same fate.
There are examples of armless individuals who have adapted in amazing ways. Life is life.
Identify that “doctor” and make sure he’s never allowed in any children’s hospital or VA hospital.
Praise God for the beautiful life of Hendré may he acomplish great things for the pleasure of his Perfect Creator!

The thalidomide babies. .
…
The doctor is an ass. Does he recommend death for amputees too?
No sense of empathy.
Ok, cut off the doctors arms. Ask him if he still wants to live.
Jeez. People have zero dam ability to empathize. Women, politicians, doctors, “experts”.
In some respects, that doctor is correct. This child will have a life of constant struggle. Moreso, if this couple has other children who do not bear that disability. Having the love and support of his family will help instill this child with a feeling of self worth. It’s good they allow him to explore and find his own ways to move about. Let him try things on his own.
The good part is this couple seem up to the task, and are committed for the long run.
As an earlier poster mentioned, this reminds me of the Thalidomide Children born in the early 60s. To this day, I have not forgotten those black and white photographs printed in various national magazines.
I’m an amputee
Many year ago I was at a prosthetic office getting fitted for an arm.
I was sitting in the waiting room
And in there with me was a little 4 year old girl sitting on floor playing...
She had no arms whatsoever ever. You could see ...she was born that way.
Literally nothing...just flat shoulders not even a scar or stump.
She was busy playing with her dolls dressing them using her feet and doing a doll teaparty like little girls do... she was happy as a clam.
This doctor can go f..k himself...
Given a choice, I think I’d rather have no arms than no heart.
Volunteered at Walter Reed during the Afghan war. They put me on the amputation war.
The “grads” would come visit, strutting down the hall showing off their prosthetics.
They would talk to the totally depressed newbies. Eventually they would look at their watches and say “We gotta go. We’re going wind surfing on the Chesapeake and next year you are coming with us!” Boy did they lift spirits.
Murdering people who are not perfect is wrong.
‘You’re selfish if you don’t abort. You must think of the child. He will never be able to have a normal quality of life.’”
Dr Quack has it backwards. A selfish person would think only of themselves and abort the child. Instead of a normal quality of life Dr Quack would deprive the child of ANY life.
I bet the doctor also recommended the parents get the jab, too.
God has a plan for this child and the parents are blessed to realize that.
