I've worked for a large bank for 6 years. I have excellent performance reviews. The female co-worker lives/works in California. I do not work with her on any projects nor is she related to my team. Nor are we in the same office. She reached out looking to leave CA to NC. There was a position open on my team & sent her the application. She applied and wasn't granted an interview. She called me mad and frustrated. She filed a complaint two days ago against me with HR. We last texted 3 months ago; HR has this text string....

An Australian Federal Police (AFP) Officer has been charged with trafficking methamphetamines, high level corruption, theft and money laundering. The magistrate who has released him on bail did so in part because he has “no criminal history.” The officer deserves the presumption of innocence but the range of criminal charges in a country where wrong doing police officers are rarely held to account seems to make a compelling case for protecting the public from what he might do when set free. Who agrees?

HORTON, MI - A flag waving in front of Hanover-Horton High School on Monday with the slogan “Let’s go Brandon” was not a political statement from the school, but a prank played by the senior class, Superintendent John Denney said. The attention-grabbing flag was one of several that members of the senior class raised on light polls outside the high school Monday morning, May 8, Denney said. Another six or seven flags with identical “Senior Class of 2023″ messages were raised, he said. The “Let’s go Brandon” flag was removed around 1 p.m. Monday, Denney said, when the district was...

Government contractors should prepare now for the U.S. to default on its debt, which would result in halted payments among other challenges. Government contractors will likely face a tough road ahead as Congress and the Biden administration navigate whether to raise the U.S. debt ceiling to avoid an economic crisis. If the $31.4 trillion debt ceiling isn't raised by June 1, the U.S. Department of Treasury won't have enough cash to pay all of its bills. It would then likely focus on maintaining its payments on the debt interest to preserve the U.S.'s creditworthiness, said David Wessel, director of the...

Russia’s winter push in Ukraine may have made little progress and at a “stunning” cost. More than 100,000 fighters from the Kremlin’s forces have been killed or wounded since December alone, the U.S. now estimates — outlining Moscow's massive losses as its military leaders scramble to recruit more men and prepare for an impending counteroffensive. The figure, if accurate, could spell trouble ahead for President Vladimir Putin. He faces a second year at war with the land he seized increasingly in Kyiv's sights and with his military's struggles forcing the Kremlin to balance battlefield necessities with domestic pressures. The casualty...

Texas Bishop Joseph Strickland did not deny that he was confronted by the papal nuncio at a bishops conference in November 2021.(RNS) — If Texas Bishop Joseph E. Strickland is known outside of his diocese for anything, it’s for controversy. The conservative firebrand, who oversees the Diocese of Tyler, Texas, has sparked backlash from critics for everything from voicing support for priests who refuse to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to offering a prayer at a “Jericho March” event in the weeks leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. More recently, Strickland challenged Pope Francis, announcing...

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVO) – A man in Kentucky was arrested after allegedly shooting his roommate in the buttocks over a frozen Hot Pocket, according to police. Clifton Williams, 64, was arrested and charged with second-degree felony assault after police say he and his roommate got into an argument over the frozen food item on Saturday night. As detailed in a citation from the Louisville Metro Police Department, the victim claimed Williams “got mad that he ate the last Hot Pocket,” at which point Williams began “throwing tiles” at his roommate. The roommate attempted to fight back but ultimately decided to...

On a Panamanian beach long after dark, a group of undergraduate students dug into the sand to excavate a sea turtle nest, their lamps casting a soft red glow as they studied eggs, inventoried the success of the hatch and checked for any surviving hatchlings stuck at the bottom of the nest. Nearby, armed members of the National Border Service stood watch for protection in an area known for drug trafficking. The students worked under the guidance of Callie Veelenturf, who founded a group that works to protect leatherback turtles and pushed for a new law in Panama that guarantees...

However, many school districts and parents argue that giving children the option to drink flavored milk is a way to get them the much-needed health benefits that they would miss if they don’t like regular milk. In a statement to the Wall Street Journal, Urban School Food Alliance executive director Katie Wilson criticized the proposal, arguing that the Agriculture Department is considering taking a product that is widely enjoyed by students and includes “nine essential nutrients” and telling them they will have to “drink plain” milk instead. “What are they trying to prove,” Wilson added.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) ended up giving Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) a history of her own party after the progressive responded to his criticism of the NAACP's recent travel advisory in Florida. “This is bizarre. And utterly dishonest,” Cruz commented on the NAACP’s claim that Florida is “hostile to Black Americans.” “In the 1950s & 1960s, the NAACP did extraordinary good helping lead the civil rights movement. Today, Dr. King would be ashamed of how profoundly they’ve lost their way," Cruz added. AOC followed up, encouraging Cruz to "tell people what happened to the parties after that," referring to the...

Top cardinal slammed for failing to protect minors in his own dioceseBOSTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - Three former Catholic students are suing Cdl. Seán O'Malley, president of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, for covering up alleged sex abuse by a former principal of the Arlington Catholic School. The lawsuit against the cardinal, who heads the Boston archdiocese where clerical sex abuse scandals first exploded in 2002, was filed on May 5 — a day after O'Malley admitted that the commission has been "the subject of intense criticism both internally and externally." "Cardinal O'Malley has failed woefully in protecting children...

It’s well known that left-wing Soviet leader Joseph Stalin was a psychopath, a dark status that led to his exterminating 20 million human beings. Yet the people who help vault such tyrants to power — sometimes pejoratively called “useful idiots” — are well-meaning but naive sorts, right? Perhaps not always. In fact, a new study informs, Stalin has much psychopathic (and narcissistic) company among leftists, including among today’s variety. Moreover, the researchers found that authoritarian-minded left-wingers often don’t care a whit about the altruism and “social justice” they trumpet, but instead “use political activism to endorse or exercise violence against...

Despite previously having no issues with 3.3 million listeners for a Twitter Spaces event with BBC, it only took a few hundred thousand listeners for the collaboration between Ron DeSantis and Elon Musk to end in abject failure. The goal was for DeSantis to use the edgy and cool Twitter Spaces tech to launch his campaign. The outcome was an embarrassing display of a billionaire funded national campaign trying too hard to launch a candidacy built on transparent fraud and political pretense. The memes coming from the disastrous event are hilarious, and very fitting.Fox News – Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’...
