HORTON, MI - A flag waving in front of Hanover-Horton High School on Monday with the slogan “Let’s go Brandon” was not a political statement from the school, but a prank played by the senior class, Superintendent John Denney said.
The attention-grabbing flag was one of several that members of the senior class raised on light polls outside the high school Monday morning, May 8, Denney said. Another six or seven flags with identical “Senior Class of 2023″ messages were raised, he said.
The “Let’s go Brandon” flag was removed around 1 p.m. Monday, Denney said, when the district was able to get access to a bucket truck.
Because the other light poles where additional flags were hung were surrounded by cars, Denney said the school was unable to gain access to remove them Monday.
Since the remaining flags are school-related, they’ll likely stay up for a couple of more days before being taken down, Denney said, with students’ last
“In the past, we’ve had some pranks that went too far and we ended up having kids do community service,” Denney said. “I know in other schools, there have been situations where kids have lost the ability (to attend) prom. You can’t take away their right to graduate, but you can take away their right of participating in commencement.
“Obviously, this doesn’t rise to that level. When you get to that point, you’re dealing with massive vandalism-type actions.”
While Denney chalked the flag raising up to senior hijinks, another Michigan school district faces a lawsuit for informing the mother of two boys that they couldn’t wear their “Let’s go Brandon” sweatshirts in school.

I think the post meant to say the flag would be raised if people took a quick survey of a few respondents (the light poll) and sent a person of Polish heritage (a Pole) to raise the flag on a wooden pole.
